Journal Entries Jan thru June 2004 December 31, 2003

Thanks to Aralee in Schertz, Texas for visiting Mary’s Place and signing my guest book… This is the last day of the year… I wish everyone a Happy New Year!!! I woke up with a terrible headache this morning but was finally able to get rid of it… I will never know how my computer knows when I am not feeling good; it seems to always know and gives me a hard time. I have been answering emails for several days and today I realized that no one is getting my email… I figured since I wasn’t getting answers to my email something must be wrong. So I sent an email to Dave and found out for sure what I was thinking was correct and Dave or I neither one know what to do to correct the problem. So if you have written me and I haven’t answered you that is the reason why… David and Kenny called… Dave and I will spend a quiet evening at home as always on New Year’s Eve watching TV… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 30, 2003

Thanks to Sandi in St. Charles, Missouri for visiting Mary’s Place and signing my guest book… Today we got quite a few errands done. Went by the upholstery shop and left the bedroom ottoman to be reupholstered which will costs an arm and a leg. LOL $153.00 but it needed to be done… Then we went by the appliance store to pick out our appliances. I couldn’t make up my mind so we came home with a book. I hate not being able to make decisions and Dave isn’t much help either. He would just flip a coin… Then we went for a late lunch and on to see how our house was coming. They had gotten quite a bit done since we were there last. They have started putting on the shingles and put the doorway into the kitchen and all the windows are in now… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 29, 2003

I heard from a friend last night that Vestal Goodman had passed away. She will be sadly missed. Vestal sang on the Gaither’s Gospel Music Shows. We have seen her in several of the Gaither Concerts... Dave had an early appointment with Dr. Morgan this morning and he is in good shape so he tells me… Cindy, the realtor called and wanted to know the color we wanted for our shingles. She said they were ordering the brick and shingles today… We are still getting calls on our house and even the mailman asked about it when he delivered our mail today. But we have yet to show it to anyone… I dusted, picked up, and did laundry… Dave shampooed the carpet… David stopped by for a visit… We are still getting Christmas cards and I got a box from Helen, a school friend in Georgia. It was full of fudge and peanut brittle. Thanks Helen for thinking of us. The candy is delicious… I called Kathy and Helen… Kenny called… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith in Oklahoma

December 28, 2003

Happy Birthday Lucy!!! Lucy is Dave’s sister in Huntington, West Virginia… I slept till noon as usual and Dave made pancakes and served me breakfast in bed… My legs have really been bothering me today and I have come close to falling several times because my knee has given out on me… Tonight we went to David and Lori’s to pick up some leftovers. David and Dave visited while Lori and I visited… We left there and went to see Christmas decorations in different neighborhoods then went by Braums and picked up milk… Martha called and she and Donnie will be here for a visit in a couple weeks. We are looking forward to their visit… I am going to watch the CBS movie because I am very fond of Renne Zellweger… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 27, 2003

Today I ignored what Doctor Bookman had told me. He said for me to avoid all raw fruits and vegetables. I couldn’t resist eating a yellow delicious apple and I have paid for it all day with diarrhea… I washed a load of clothes and the guest bathroom shower curtain… It has been a rainy day and still very warm for this time of year… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 26, 2003

Happy Birthday Pat!!! Pat is a friend in California… Happy Birthday Alan!!! Alan is a DASNI friend in New Zealand... I slept till noon today and I think I am finally rested up from Christmas… I took care of the house plants and picked up around the house… I fixed Liver and Onions for supper with Rice. Yummy!!! I talked to Kathy and she said that the men put the sheeting on our roof today and she said it was really looking like a house now… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 25, 2003

Happy Birthday Jesus!!!

Happy Birthday Carole!!! Carole is a DASNI friend in Missouri… It didn’t seem like Christmas today, it was 60 degrees… We didn’t go to Marc and Barbara’s house today for Christmas dinner because I needed a rest after the big family celebration last night. I haven’t even got dressed all day… David and our niece Kathy in Seagrove, North Carolina called… I called Mom and Martha was visiting her… I also called Carole… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 24, 2003

Happy Birthday Larry!!! Larry is a DASNI friend in Nashville, Tennessee... Thanks to Sue in Canada, Dewey in Lexington, North Carolina, and Sandy in Rusk, Texas for visiting Mary ‘s Place and signing my guest book… We spent a wonderful evening with our family… Everyone was there except for Jamie and family in Kentucky and Chris was with his girlfriend’s family and couldn’t make it… Kathy prepared a delicious dinner and we listened to Christmas Carols, played dirty Santa and had a gift exchange then the ones who wanted to, joined in the traditional Christmas cookie baking or cutting out Christmas cookies, decorating, and baking… Everyone had a great time… Dave and I came home with some very nice gifts… We feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family… Goodnight All… Keeping The Faith in Oklahoma

December 23, 2003

Happy Birthday Jenni !!!
Jenni is our granddaughter in Moore, Oklahoma… Dave was a big help to me in getting ready for the maids this morning… I haven’t felt real good today. I have felt cold all day and can’t get warm… It is nice to have a clean house again… Virginia called… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 22, 2003

I finally got to talk to my Mother last night and she sounded good. I guess sometimes she just doesn’t want to talk to anyone and doesn’t answer her phone or else she isn’t able to reach it. I know I have days when I don’t want to talk to anyone… I have been busy doing laundry all day. I finally got it all done and have picked up around the house getting ready for the maids visit tomorrow… I worked on the checkbook and fixed supper… David and Kenny called… We have been invited for a dinner at Lori’s Mother’s on Christmas Day. They were doing more work on our house today… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 21, 2003

We had a high of 66 degrees today. I fixed us a country breakfast and we ate out on the patio and I seen a squirrel, the first one in a long time… Dave dug up the Forsythia bush, Hibiscus bushes, and Lamb’s Ear and we took them over to Kenny’s and planted them till we get our house built. My flowers mean too much to me to leave them behind. My kids and friends gave most of the flowers to me… We stopped on the way to Piedmont and picked us up a pair of boots at Wal-Mart. I couldn’t get out of that store fast enough… It was so nice to drive up to our house and see all the work that had been done. If they keep it up like they have been we will be moving in no time… Looks like they are about ready to put on the shingles. They had corrected the windows in our bedroom but we found one more mistake. They forgot to put the doorway into the kitchen from the utility room. We will call our realtor tomorrow and let her know. It shouldn’t be a problem to fix… Kenny and Kathy weren’t home, they had gone to Kathy’s family in Lawton for their Christmas party. We got to watch their kittens play and they were so cute. They would see a leaf blowing and chase it… On the way home I saw the prettiest sunset ever. I felt like God painted it just for me to enjoy… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 20, 2003

Sometimes I really have to watch myself or I can really get depressed. It would help if I couldn’t remember the good old days at this time of the year but I still do and it hurts. When I think of the times I used to be out shopping for everyone making sure I had the perfect gifts. I loved doing it too. I sent everyone a Christmas card and would write a letter to everyone. I would bake many different cookies and candies and share with our friends and neighbors and they would share with us. That just doesn’t happen anymore. I don’t shop, do cards, or bake, and no one shares. I miss that so much. I don’t even get a fruitcake… I miss friends dropping by and I just miss friends… I call them but I seem to be the only one that does the calling. I am to the point of why bother. I would never have stopped loving a friend just because they have a disease. But I know everyone isn’t like me… I will get off my soapbox now and wipe my tears… I am blessed with so many online friends from near and far. I had a phone call from Chip in Florida this morning and we talked and laughed. I called a friend Ruth in Atlanta, Georgia. Ruth will be making a trip to India next month. I am happy for her… David and Lori stopped by for a few minutes to pick up a package. Even for a few minutes it is always nice to see them… I called Jaunita, a neighbor and Pat, a friend who lives nearby… Kenny sent us some pictures of our house and they got most of the windows put in today and a lot done on the roof… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 19, 2003

Happy Birthday Roger!!! Roger is our nephew in California… The days come and go by so fast it makes my head swim… It was another beautiful day and to be even nicer this weekend… We are still getting calls on our home but no one has been to see it yet. I am not worried yet… Josh called and said they have started putting the roof on our new home… I folded the clothes that were left in the dryer from yesterday, then I dusted and picked up around the house. I also fixed our supper… Dave spent the afternoon working in the yard… David called, he had an interview for a supervisor job. I tried to call my Mother again but she didn’t answer and as always I left her a message on her answering machine… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 18, 2003

I did laundry when I got up and then after lunch I did chat and then we took off to go brick hunting again. The saleslady at the brick place gave us an address that didn’t have the brick on it that was supposed to be. She was just confusing us all the more… Oh well, I think we have just about picked a brick. At least we have narrowed it down to two… Later Dave wanted to go to Lowe’s and see a demo of the ShopSmith so we did that and went by a Statuary Store that had a lot of neat bird baths, outdoor furniture, swings, and etc. A store that we would like to go visit again later when we have more time… Then we ended up at Kenny and Kathy’s. By the time we got to their house it was dark… Kenny and Dave got on their boots and with a flashlight in their hands they walked down to check out our house… They are putting up the ceiling and you can tell which rooms are which now… I called my sister and tried to call my Mother but didn’t get an answer… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 17, 2003

It was a beautiful sunny day with very little wind… We went to the Brick store to look at all the bricks and the lady gave us a list of addresses to go look. We are still undecided. All this decision-making is making me tired… We went by our house and nothing much has changed except we noticed that the windows had been delivered… We stopped at Subway for lunch and went by to get one of Josh’s hugs… On the way home we seen another beautiful Oklahoma sunset… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 16, 2003

Thanks to Sis in Rusk, Texas for visiting Mary’s Place and signing my guest book… It was after the afternoon chat before I got around to getting in the shower and getting dressed today… I am recuperating from yesterday and resting up for tomorrow as we go and start our hunt all over for brick… I took care of the houseplants and my Amaryllis is blooming and is very pretty. I never knew it would have so many blooms… I helped fix supper… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 15, 2003

It got up to 68 degrees today... Dave and I went to Stein Mart and then to Wallpaper’s To Go. We found some pretty wallpapers, now we need to make a decision on all the different samples we brought home with us. We stopped by the realtors to talk about the brick we had chosen and found out that brick is no longer available so we are back to starting all over again… We went to check on our house and found it very muddy there because of the snow that had melted. They got a lot more snow in Piedmont than we did here in the city… Kenny met us out there with two pairs of boots so we could walk through the mud and see inside the house… We found one mistake and will let the builder know about it tomorrow… Later we had a delicious meatloaf dinner with Kenny, Kathy, Josh, and Heather that Kathy had prepared and even had some freshly baked choc chip cookies. Then we all sat down and watched Finding Nimo. It was a very cute movie. I had heard a lot about it but had never seen it… It is ten o’clock and we are just getting home… I am going to go watch the news with Dave… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 14, 2003

Happy Birthday Trevor!!!

Trevor is our great grandson in Moore, Oklahoma who turns five today… Great news today that they have captured Saddam… I finished up the laundry and cooked a chicken. Dave helped me make tortilla soup… David came by on his way to work and brought us some beef… Most of our snow is gone already but we are to get more coming later in the week… Kenny called and he has taken more pictures of our house… I hosted DASNI chat as usual. Alice, Frank, Jeanne, and Tracy were there. Frank is one of our newer chatters; he is from the United Kingdom… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 13, 2003

I slept extra late this morning because of not sleeping well last night. My foot was hurting… I am just thankful that I can sleep late when I need too… I fixed us a late country breakfast/lunch and later I started on my laundry and got it all done except for one load. I just ran out of energy. I will finish it tomorrow… I want to go see our house on Monday so don’t want to be tied down here doing laundry… I called my Mother and she lost another roommate this afternoon. We met her roommate Garnet when we were home in June. This makes the fourth roommate she has lost since she has been in the Nursing Home. I feel so bad for her; I wish I were there to give her a hug… I watched the Gaither’s on TV… David called, he and Lori had T/Bones tonight for dinner and he said they were great… Jason White won the Heisman Trophy... Goodnight All… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 12, 2003

Wow!!! Thanks Teresa for the balloons, What a big surprise... Teresa is my web mistress... Thanks to Edie in Dayton, Indiana and Sue in Canada for visiting Mary’s Place and signing my guest book… Kenny, Kathy, Josh and Heather were here last night and brought me an OU Sooner Jacket and lots of hugs… Dave woke me up this morning with breakfast and my medication… I am resting today, getting over all the excitement of my birthday… David called and he had just picked up over 400 pounds of beef. He had a cow, KC butchered… He is giving me the liver since none of them like it. I love Liver and Onions… Kenny called, he said they had done more work on our house and he took pictures for us… I can’t believe we haven’t been out there in almost two weeks to see our house. Doesn’t look like we will be going for a while yet because we are under a winter storm watch. The weatherman is saying we are to get ice and snow this weekend… Our power has been going on and off and it has me worried that the power will go off and stay off. Dave says if it does we will go live in the motor home. But we would still have a large aquarium with fish and houseplants to worry about. I just pray the power doesn’t go off… Just had a phone call from Josh and it is snowing in Piedmont… A good night to curl up in front of the TV and watch the video of the fireplace that was sent to me by some special friends. This is the neatest video, the fire seems so real you can watch the logs burning and hear it’s crackling and popping. Dave and I both think we can almost feel the heat. LOL… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 11, 2003
Happy Birthday to me… Yep, I am lucky enough to celebrate another birthday today… I don’t know how I got this old so fast…I have had many phone calls, received cards and emails and gifts. I have had visitors too. David, Lori, and Madison came and brought me a birthday cake and a beautiful Poinsettia from my sister and a really neat bird feeder… Dave took me out to dinner and we drove around to see the beautiful Christmas lights… Kenny and Kathy, Josh, and Heather are on their way here now. I am feeling very blessed today… I just received a call from Jenni. She and Chris are expecting. So we will have another great grandbaby in about six months...Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 10, 2003

Kenny called last night and also emailed us some pictures of the framing that was done on our house… I slept late as usual. Later we went to the mall to pick up some dirty santa gifts for Christmas Eve. The sun came out and melted all the snow but it is still very cold to me. My hands are so cold I can hardly type… I am tired from shopping and I am sure Dave is tired from pushing me around all afternoon in my wheel chair… We came home and warmed up the chicken and noodles that Lori had given us… I am having some hot tea trying to warm up my body and watch Billy Graham on TV… David called… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 9, 2003

I wasn’t going to write this but decided to do so. Last night as we were leaving the church and walking to our car, I said in a very loud voice teasing Albert that his Chili sure wasn’t fart proof. I don’t have any idea who all heard me say that but I sure did embarrass myself. Later we all laughed about it… I hope I don’t make a habit of doing this and so does Dave… The cold weather arrived right on schedule and it is starting to snow… A real good day to stay home, the wind is so strong that it is whipping our flagpole… The birthday cards and Christmas cards are starting to come in and I am really enjoying them. Some of the Christmas cards come with long letters and others with pictures… Last night I received birthday gifts from Martha and Alfred. A canister of Awaken lemon and herbal teabags, a beautiful Christmas pin, and an Andy Williams Christmas CD… I am watching the snowfall and listening to my new Christmas CD and I am getting in the Christmas spirit… David and Virginia called and I called Martha and Heather… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 8, 2003

Kathy called this morning to let us know that there were nine men out there working on our house. Then Josh called when he got home from school to say that we had walls up. So the framing has begun. I love the excitement in Josh’s voice when he calls. He said, you and Pops need to come see… Dave took me for a manicure and later went to Yukon to our friends Martha and Alfred’s home for a Chili supper and pumpkin pie. Then we all went to a live production of “Two From Galilee” including a live camel and donkey. We all enjoyed it and the church was packed. We got home just before the bad weather started. It was in the sixty’s today but they are talking snow tomorrow… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

They are getting snow… Our grandson Josh is feeling much better… I have been really dragging and just noticed I am over due for my Vitamin B12 injection. I will ask Dave to give me one tonight… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 4, 2003

Happy Birthday Lynne!!! Lynne is a DASNI friend in Iowa Park, Texas… Happy Anniversary Ben and Bethel!!! Ben and Bethel are DASNI friends in Irving, Texas... Virginia, David, Lori, and Kenny called last night… I had terrible nightmares last night, I remember at least three different ones. One of them I was crying out and woke up Dave… I got groomed (haircut) this morning and Dave took me to get a red Amaryllis flower, this is my first one. I hope I have good luck with it… We are still getting calls about our house but no lookers yet… Dave packed up the curio cabinet in the living room today… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 3, 2003

David and Kenny called last night. David and Lori were out shopping for the DHS kids, something they do every year… Kenny said they haven’t done any more work on our home… I had an appointment this morning with my psychiatrist, Dr. Chioco. He suggested since I wasn’t able to exercise anymore that I try Tai Chi. He thought I was doing fine and made no other changes… We went looking at the BX for a video but didn’t find one. We will keep looking for one. We went to Dillard's and I got fitted for bras and when I came out of the dressing room Dave had to remind me that I needed to go back into the dressing room for my jacket… When we got home I fixed us some potato soup for lunch, paid bills, worked with the checkbook, and took care of the houseplants… A realtor came be later and we discussed what needed to be done when we got offers on the house, etc… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 2, 2003

Dave woke me up a little after 11:00 this morning. I have no idea how long I would have slept if he hadn’t woke me… I made a grocery list and wrote a check for my web mistress. The check is in the mail Teresa… Dave went to the pharmacy and got my medications and then to the commissary to get groceries. We were out of about everything… I helped him put away the groceries and let him rest while I fixed us a Spaghetti supper… My allergies are so bad. My nose is running constantly and it is so aggravating… I had phone calls from Carole and Virginia… It turned off cold and the wind makes it feel really cold. I seen outside my front window that I still have a Begonia blooming… Goodnight all… Keeping The Faith In Oklahoma

December 1, 2003
