Episode 2

This is one week after the last episode.

HALL IS IN HIS FLAT, THERE IS A KNOCK AT THE DOOR, HE OPENS IT, IT IS LEECH. SHE HAS FLOWERS.

HALL: Oh, I wondered when you would turn up.

LEECH: I just wanted to say sorry for being so over-reactive that day.

HALL: I think you made a splendid job in telling me you hate my guts, superb.....

LEECH: No, I was being silly!

HALL: Some people would just shove a note through under the door and break it gently, but you really hit it!

LEECH: I'm sorry.

HALL: It's no good, I think you should go away.

LEECH: Oh, thank you, I suppose you want the flowers to go and all!

HALL: Yes, I hate them.

LEECH LEAVES, LEAVING THE DOOR OPEN

HALL: I'll regret that, I'm giving £500 of my money to a woman who slapped me round the face last week, a woman who calls me a disgrace, a woman who I hardly know! Why? It's just a gift, that's why. No friendship or relationship attached, simply a donation from a caring doctor.

THE PHONE RINGS. HE TURNS AND PICKS IT UP.

HALL: Hello? Oh, hello darling.

LEECH BURSTS IN AND SNATCHES THE PHONE OFF HIM.

LEECH: (into phone) Your husband is a very rude, arrogant and silly man, he won't be friends with me just because I was angry because he didn't tell me you even exist, to be frank I had thought he loved me, Yes that means marriage, sex, et cetera, in fact we very nearly got to that point last week when we got drunk on a hot date. In fact I think he does love me but he's just pretending to hate me so you don't have suspicions.....

HALL: WHAT?

LEECH: If you want to discuss this please call me on 01238 72 42 84, you have been warned!

LEECH SLAMS PHONE DOWN.

HALL: What a lie! I do not love you! It's thoughts like that which prevent us from ever becoming friends.

LEECH: Well, your wife's not going to believe that is she? At this point she's probably sat at work with the receiver still in her hand in a state of shock at what a horrible husband she's got. She'll ask me many questions on the phone and I'll provide answers, I'm going to make sure I get my own back over how you've treated me.

HALL: (smiling) On the contrary, that won't happen.

LEECH: How are you so sure of that?

HALL: Because that was my daughter you spoke to. My wife will be sat at work doing nothing, it will be my daughter who is the one sitting still with the receiver in her hand, convinced that her 24 year old husband is knocking off some old tart.

LEECH: Oh no!

HALL: Have a nice weekend.
