INTRODUCTION TO SCIENTIFIC HYPNOSIS

Hypnosis is an altered state of consciousness where one becomes hyper-suggestible It is not different from what Dr. James Braid of Manchester named HYPNOSIS (1820) and what was at one time known as Mesmerism (1784). It is a state of concentration, which is commonly experienced by man while he is absorbed in reading or in Marathon running etc. This state is characterized by production of endorphin (symbol of relaxation) in blood and lowering of hydrocortisone level (symbol of calmness) produced by the adrenal or suprarenal gland.
Neutral hypnosis induced by therapists or doctors, a pleasant and profound relaxed state of body and mind without any suggestive manipulation is helpful in healing when practiced daily for about 30 minutes. The healing is in the form of mind modulation of automatic nervous activity controlling the working of heart, lungs, stomach and intestines etc. of our body.
All hypnosis is self-hypnosis. Once one learns, he can enter into and come out of the hypnotic trance as and when he wishes. By doing so one can benefit immensely, enrich his life by inculcating many healthy habits and traits. Self-hypnosis is one’s natural ability to use one’s own inner processes of focussed awareness and concentration for positive change. Self-Hypnosis is useful for all that wish elevation and successful life.
90% of our population can undergo Hypnosis and hence have the benefit of hypnotherapy (treatment carried out in the state of subconscious mind available in hypnosis). Hypnosis is harmless if used by a qualified medical man or clinical psychologist or dentist with good intention.

Fron Aiante a little information

Self hypnosis

For some schools of hypnotherapy and in some self hypnosis methods we have  important infomation:

bullet

Self hypnosis is an "altered state" of consciousness

bullet

You can produce an "altered state" of consciousness  when you process information in some way (i.e. using  in a special way  your  representational system).

bullet

Self Hypnosis is a state of focused attention.

bullet

In Self hypnosis you turn your attention away from external experience and directing it internally (as in meditation...).

bullet

For some schools is important to trust your unconscious mind.

bullet

For some schools  the conscious mind is not necessary for change.

Representational Systems

We process and deal with information (we think) in pictures, sounds and feelings.

In Neurolinguistic Programming, these sensory modalities are referred to as representational systems.

V - The Visual System - The external things we see and the internal images that we create. This includes remembered images , constructed images.
A - The Auditory System - The external things we hear, the internal sounds that we create. This includes remembered words or sounds , imagined words or sounds .
K - The Kinesthetic System - The things we feel.

Primary Representational System

bullet

Most of us have developed greater proficiency with one of the other of our representational systems though we each use all three of them: this is the primary representational system.
