His life was not going anywhere. He had tried so much to make a good life for himself, but he couldn’t. He was miserable. He had to get away from here. He had to start anew.

I’m sailing away
I set an open course for the virgin sea.

         Her life was not her life. She was not in control. People who don’t know her might have thought she was very lucky to have a life like hers. Those people didn’t know any better. She felt trapped in a life she did not choose to have. She had to get away.

And I’ve got to be free
Free to face the world that’s ahead of me.

         He looked at his future and did not like what he saw. He knew his life was worth more than what fate had in store for him. So he decided to take his fate in his own hands.

On board I’m the captain
So climb aboard.

         She looked at the people around her. The people were happy. They did not have the pressures that she had. Everyone demanded so much from her. She knew she deserved to be happy as those people.

We can search for tomorrow
On every shore

         He knew people would miss him. She knew people would miss her. But they had to go away. They had to get away from their lives and make lives for their own.

And I’ll try, oh Lord I’ll try...
To carry on.

         He felt his hair tickle his cheeks as the sea breeze blew against his body. He saw her standing by the shore. He remembered that this is where he began to change. The waves brought out so much memories.

I look to the sea
Reflections in the waves spark my memories.

         She felt the waves wash over her feet as she stood on the beach. She knew that this is where her life began to change. In a way, it was a blessing and a curse. She gained and lost so much at the same time. But she wouldn’t have it any other way.

Some happy--some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had.

         He had been doing things for other people his whole life. Now, the world hardly needed him. He knew he should have been happy now, but he wasn’t. He forgot how to be happy. He needed some time to remember how to.

We’ve been happy forever
So the story goes.

         She knew she was supposed to be happy. She had everything anyone would want—fame, money, power, and loved ones. Yet, there was something missing from her life. Maybe that something was her.

But somehow we missed out
On that pot of gold

         They had lived their lives for other people ever since they were children. Fate had given other people the controls to their lives. The only way to take back the controls to their lives was to fade away from the world.

But we’ll try as best as we can
To carry on.

         They saw each other on the beach. They looked in each other’s eyes and saw their emotions. They knew what the other was feeling. That was because they were the same. They knew they were always the same.

On board I’m the captain

         He walked just so that he was close enough to touch her. He could see himself in her. He could always see his emotions mirrored in her eyes. His pain, anger, remorse, joy...They were all there. She was just as lost as he was. He knew that she needed to escape just as much as he needed to.

         He extended his hand toward hers and she took it. They walked away from their world, hand in hand. They weren’t complete yet, but they had each other to help find themselves. They knew people would miss them, and they would miss those people. Yet, they could live without them for a while. They would come back one day, but now, now was their time to live their lives. Now was their time to sail away...

And I’ll try, oh Lord I’ll try...

Note: For some of you who don't know, this is a story about Heero Yuy and Relena Darlian from the anime, Gundam Wing. They first officially met on a beach, and in my opininion, that's where their lives began to change.
