The first race of the season
last lap to go
angels joined in the crowd
to watch the big show
They were out for a driver
to race in heaven with the rest
they all said "don't come back
unless you've got the best.
It was on the third corner
where a angel did see
the one that they wanted
mangled up in car three
He was watching for others
so his team could get in
a racers dream would come true
Mike Waltrip would win
The angels took Dale
to start a new race
the others were waiting
with impatience on their face
His new car was shiny
set up for lap one
his father and Adam
were two up for fun
Dale gazed down from heaven
and a angel replied
"its just what you wanted
your team never died"
A tear and a smile
shot up from his face
as he started up the car
to start a new race.
So up there in heaven
on Sunday at one.
the angels are with him
and the races just begun.
