Adding One To The Family
By, Cheryl Myers
At this time when the whole world is grieving, and reeling from the death of a man that was a husband, father, grandfather, friend, acquaintance, the best stock car driver this world has ever seen, and any number of other things to many other people, I have found the true meaning of family.
No, I never met Dale Earnhardt Senior, and I will regret this forever. I have learned a lot about him through many peoples memories of this great man.
There have been many articles written about how wonderful he was, and about his great accomplishments.
This does help to ease the pain. But the one thing that helps more than all is the support of people that I have never met in person. Never spoken to on the phone and do not know their true names nor do I have to know. These are the FANS. Be it from a forum or a chat room or just from the many emails and posts of condolences at the many websites giving tribute to Dale Earnhardt this is a family.
The people on the forums and the chat rooms have cried together, laughed at the many funny things that Dale has done and said, and helped each other to manage to make some sense of a senseless situation. We have celebrated together the life of Dale Earnhardt just by being together and sharing our stories. We are able to cope because we know that there are many out there that feel the exact same way that we do.
I am very thankful that the world had Dale Earnhardt even if it was for such a short time. We will go on and we will be stronger because we have known him, and loved him.
I think Dale Earnhardt would be very proud of his fans. His fans are very proud of him. God Bless and dont think of Dale as being gone. Hes right here, in our hearts and our memory and in our family.
