Who Am I?

Ok, even though thtat sounded corny. I am Amber Draper. Also known as Anya or Anyanka or Spike. Depends on whom you ask. 20 years old, live in Norman Oklahoma. I had a great chance to get pictures of the May third tornado immediatly after it and decided to create this web page to show you all just how devistated our state was.

Less than ten miles from our house in Norman, Oklahoma, on May third, a tornado went ripping through Newcastle and Moore, then on to Oklahoma City. Leaving the central part of our state in ruins and most of Moore and Newscastle looking like a war zone, the May third Tornado was finally classified an F6, the first of it's kind ever.

To fully understand what F6 means, you have to know what F stands for. The F means Fujita scale. This scale is measured in # by how much damage is caused as well as the factor of winds and speed.

  • F1-the lowest on the scale, this tornado doesn't last too long and does little damage.
  • F2-This is the second most common tornado. Again, the tornado may last for only a few seconds or minutes, but does enough damage to be harmful.
  • F3-The third highest, this tornado usually stays for a few minutes, ten or so, and does enough damage to cause quite abit of harm. These are the most common.
  • F4-These tornados tend to stay for a while longer and do quite a bit of damage. Very dangerous and harmful, F4's can grow quite large.
  • F5-Previously the most dangerous and most deady tornados, F5's can grow to be half a mile wide or more and do alot of damage, going so far as to wipe out parts of a town. These are rare, however.
  • F6-A newly catagorized tornado rating, F6 is a devistating level of tornado that can reach beyond a mile wide, destroying whole towns and cities, flattenting residencial areas and leaving a high rate of fatalities in it's path.

Since the F6 is so massive, it is hard to chase and hard to run from. I live about ten miles as I said from Moore, Ok, and when the May third tornado came barreling through our state, I stood on my porch an could see the edge of the rotation from my house. You could actually see the tunnel's top from that far away.
