                  Assignments and Homework

Assignments are usually given at the end of the lesson.  The purpose of the assignment or independent practice is to give the student a chance to practice what was just taught.  It also gives the teacher a chance to see if the student understood what was taught in the lesson.  All assignments for the day are written on the board for students to copy in their planner first thing each morning.
Homework will be any assignments not finished during the study time given in class.  Typically, the lesson is taught and time is given immediately after the lesson to work on the assignment.  Students usually have time to finish most assignments during the school day.
When an assignment is finished the student is to put it in his/her appropriate subject folder for safe keeping.  The assignment is due by the next class period unless other instructions are given.  Students are told to write the "due date" at the top of the paper if an extended time is given.
Any assignment not completed by the due date is considered late.  The assignment will be accepted the next day with 10 points taken off. ( Five points are taken off for no name) The assignment will not be accepted after the second late day, and a zero grade will be recorded.
