The Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth. It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors. Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush, green grass. When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place.

There is always food and water and warm Spring weather there, and our friends are comfortable and run and play together. All of the animals who have been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing: they miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind. They all run and play together. The day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; his eager body begins to quiver. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart. The you cross Rainbow Bridge together.

Some of them here by the Bridge, though, are different. These pets were beaten, starved, tortured, and unloved. They watch wistfully as their friends leave one by one, to cross the bridge with their special person. For them there is no one, no special one. Their time on earth did not give them one.

But one day, as they run and play, they notice someone standing by the road to the bridge. This person wistfully watches the reunions of friends, for during life, this person had no pet. This person was beaten, starved, tortured, and unloved.

Standing there alone, one of the unloved pets approaches, curious as to why this one is alone. And as the unloved pet and the unloved person get nearer to each other, a miracle occurs, for these are the ones who were meant to be together, the special person and the beloved pet who never had the chance to meet while on Earth. Finally, now, at the edge of the Rainbow Bridge, their souls meet, the pain and the sorrow disappears, and two friends are together.

They cross Rainbow Bridge together, never again to be separated.

When we lose a beloved pet, it's nothing less than heart wrenching. Some of us have to make the choice to lend a loving..helping hand to help them cross over. It's not an easy decision to make, but it comes down to your pets quality of life. Would you want to continue your time on earth if you were old, frail & infirm..not able to help yourself to the bathroom etc..now think of your beloved pet. They gave you years of selfless devotion & unconditional love. Do you really want them to suffer & live a life where they're in pain? When their time comes, make the right decision..for the PET. Yes you're heart will heart. You will cry..but then you'll start to remember the good times and one day you'll cross that bridge and meet up with your "furbaby" once again.

If you would like your pets name added here please just email me with your pets name, a picture if you have one & any information or words you would like to share.

In Memory....

Hardy My rescued border collie mix that carried ALOT of baggage with her from a life of being abused. She finally learned to trust and know that a hand from a human..can be filled with love.

Rigel...a deaf male merlequin great dane. We were in the process of adopting this gorgeous boy..the weekend we were to go pick him up & bring him to his forever home he was put to sleep due to a genetic defect that didn't allow him to be able to eat properly & keep it down. He was only 7 weeks old.

Buster..another rescue we loved dearly. He was a german shep/ doberman mix. Another poor baby that suffered from the hands of "man" & carried his battle scars..on his heart & body. He will never be forgotten. His complete love & devotion he showed towards me..even with all the things he'd been through..he was a true champion.
