The Second Book of Lost Swords

CHAPTER TWO
The mirror was made of real glass, smooth and relatively unblemished, so clear that it almost certainly had a silver backing. Even the wood carving of the frame was fastened so carefully to the wall was not entirely inept. All in all, it was a finer thing than you would expect to find out here in the hinterlands, in the only inn in a small town that was very little more than a fishing village. Certainly it was the best mirror that the lady who now occupied the little room had seen in a long time. And during the tedious days of waiting for the boat that was to carry her on down the Tungri, she had been taking full advantage of the oppertunity offered by the glass for a new self-appraisal.
This exert from the Second Book of Lost Swords shows the lady once know as the Silver Queen, Yambu, in her journey. She has become a major player in the game of Swords, but, up to this point in the story line, other players have still managed to remain constant, including Mark, Ben, Zoltan, and a few characters not spoken of too much before, such as the wizard Honan-Fu, whom the heroes are looking for to help Adrian, son of Mark of Tasavalta. The story is an excellent example of the works of Fred Saberhagen, and very easy to understand even if you're just starting here, but I reccomend that you read the prior books first.
