I have a little box, known only to me I keep it in a secret place that only I can see. It doesn't hold money, valuables or gold, But what's hidden in this box holds treasures untold But only for me. You cannot follow me to see where it lies For the path is not seen with the naked eye
I have no fear the box will be found so I can let you in on a little secret It's buried beneath the old oak tree near my tranquil pond. This box holds nothing of importance to anyone but me You see it holds my memories. And that's something that can never be taken from me.
Friends and lovers may come and go and when our paths part ways To my tranquil pond I go To store those treasured memories. Along with memories you can find Pieces of me left behind. It also holds my thoughts and dreams My most private personal things.
I visit my tranquil pond often When memories of my great grandmother's face.. her loving embrace start to fade To give myself a gentle reminder of when my husband and i first met our first date our first kiss our wedding day To remember all those things precious to me That have come and gone
My best friend whose life was taken far to soon My nephew who's now resting in God's loving embrace. The joys of pregnancy, the sorrow of my beloveds taken before getting the chance to know their mommy and daddy upon this earth but I know now are wearing baby angel wings also resting in the safe haven of God's love.
Some of the memories I will shed tears over But many I will laugh and recall days gone by. As i safely tuck the box back in it's place And slowly walk away from my tranquil place I look forward to a brand new dawn and the new memories that are waiting to be made. But my little box will always be there hidden beside my tranquil pond.
