Cakaka
A flightless species of bird about 8-10 kg in weight, which has
been domesticated all over Gorgamelle. Most peasants keep a few
Cakaka for their eggs and the meat of their offspring. They have long
muscular legs and if in condition can get up quite a sprint. They
rarely do, however, since they are content, if fed regularly, just to
lie about. Their wings are too atrophied to support their weight.
Cakaka are named for their Ca-ca-ca-ca call and can have plumage of
various colours - white and black, a glossy red-brown, and less
commonly, a gorgeous dark red. Cakaka are famed for their stupidity.
A common insult runs "Stupider than a Cakaka, but not as stupid as
rock".
