Alomar Mercanaraes is a merchant of rare skill. Previously the owner of a large business that employed caravans all over Northern Dymeria, he has been recently ruined by the war with the Saharnian empire, escaping the siege of Karmorvus with only what he could carry. Nothing daunted, he has taken his old sword out of retirement - he built his business from nothing once, and now he's going to do it again...
Alomar is a short stocky man in his forties, of indeterminate race. He is swarthy, with dark eyes, a neatly trimmed beard and mustache, and he keeps his black hair cut fairly short. His hands, while fleshy, are no fat, and Alomar, while no swordmaster, is trained in the Northern school of shortsword-fighting and if words fail, is quite capable of defending himself. He tends to dress in the flowing robes typical of Atrios's southern border and is usually armed with a shortsword and small shield, as well as some inconspicuous missile weapon such as a sling or darts.
While his word is his bond, Alomar has no compunction about twisting the meaning to get what he wants - this trait has made him many enemies, and his dealings during the war even attracted the attention of the ruling family of Atrios, so Alomar is careful to keep a low profile these days.
