Chapter 5 - Family
It was a month later and evryone had settle into the new living arrangements. Charmony had called her agent and manager and told them she was going to retired from modeling, after all she has been modeling for 10 years, and told them she was going into acting.
Her agent and manager weren't too thrilled about this career decision but they did understand her reasoning. She wanted to take care of her family. Acting was the only way she could stay home enough to raise the twins.
*Brian's, AJ's, and Charmony's Apartment*
Brian on the other hand was running around everywhere. He had something up his sleeve and he knew Charmony was going to get suspicious if he didn't start slowing down. He loves her so much and just one day of finding the truth made him realize maybe they weren't meant to be together.
AJ screwed up everything. We had the perfect life until he decided to try and seduce her. Then I made things worse by sleeping with Leigh Ann. Why did we do this to each other? Why did we let two people get in the way of our love? I love my children and I love my fiance. I just need time to be alone without her and them, Brian thought to himself.
*The Nursery*
"Will you go out with me Charm," Brian asked.
"Of Course I will Lucky. What took you so long?"
"You mean it? You really will go out with me?"
"I have waited three years for you to ask me out Lucky. What made you think I wouldn't date you?"
"I didn't think you would want to go out with me because we are best friends."
"Lucky I wouldn't dream of dating anyone besides you. You're my best friend and the love of my life."
"You mean that Charm. I'm the love of your life?"
"Yes Lucky, I really mean it. I couldn't picture myself with anyone but you. Everyone knew my feelings about you even my parents. I have loved you like a brother all my life but for the last three years I have been in love with you."
Charmony snapped out of the daydream she was having. She was dreaming the day Brian had the courage to ask her out. They were both 15 years old. She remembered how shy and careful he was that day and exactly what he was wearing. It was so hard to believe that it was almost ten years they became a couple.
"Oh Brian, can't you see you're the only one I love. I don't care if you slept with Leigh Ann. I don't care if you believe what AJ said. I know I didn't have sex with him and I know I didn't love him. You're the only one for me. The twins should be proof enough. I'll give up everything except our family to prove how much I love you," she said to herself out loud. "It's killing me that you feel you can't trust me. I need you, I can't live without and they can't live without you either," she said again.
Brian was in his and Charm's bedroom listen to the baby monitors. She must not know that the monitor is on. Brian thought. "I love you too Charmony," he whispered to himself. A single tear rolled down his right cheek. He loved her so much and wanted to trust her again but how could he when the person she had a foreplaying affair with was AJ, one of his best friends.
Brian walked out of their room and towards the nursery. When he reached the door he found it was closed. He leaned on it with his back toward it and raked his fingers through his hair and sank down to the floor covering his face with his hands. He didn't know what to do anymore. Charmony and AJ constantly apologized to him saying to him that they honestly didn't know who each other were when they had the affair.
AJ wasn't home, so it was just him, Charmony and the twins. The twins were sleeping so the apartment was pretty quiet. A pin drop could be heard through the whole apartment.
Brian just sat outside the nursery door silent for the rest of the day. Charmony hadn't come out at all. Then he heard crying, not baby crying, soft weeping crying. He knew it was Charmony. It broke his heart to hear her cry.
He stood up, turned the knob, pushed the door, and opened it. He walked in to see Charmony sitting in the old mahogany rocking chair he bought for her by the window. He quietly walked over to her and knelt down infront of her, laying his head face down in her lap.
Like an automatic reponse, Charmony put her hand on his head and gently stroke his hair. She loved the feeling of running her hands through his hair. She didn't like being at odds with him, not even for a day. They really hadn't spoken in a month and the silent treatment had been killing her.
"I'm sorry," Brian spoke after a long silence.
Brian's voice startled her. She was lost in her thoughts and then he spoke. She couldn't find any of the words she wanted to say.
"I know that probably isn't enough and I know it's going to take a while to gain both our trusts again, but I love you Charm and I always have."
"I... I... I know you do Brian. It just hurts that you won't talk to me. What happened between me and AJ was three years ago. He didn't make me happy then and he's not going to make me happy know because I have never loved him. I love you," she whispered not wanting to wake up the twins.
Brian was staring right into her eyes and studying her face. He could see she was telling the truth. This made him smile. "I don't know what has gotten into me this past month Charm. I know everything's been hectic. You and the twins are my pride an joy. All I know is I'm not going to sit around and watch you walk out of my life."
"I would never let that happen either Brian, ever."
