Chapter 11 Wedding Gone Bad
"What the hell has gotten into you Charm?" Brian asked outraged. "This was suppose to be our wedding day."
Charmony was crying now. It had been three days since she returned from Kentucky and Brian's and her wedding day. "I just...I can't...I'm sorry Lucky."
"This isn't like you at all. You've changed. Ever since you first came down here you've been distant and I'm not talking about the twins' deaths either."
"I know you probably tink it's just wedding jitters Luck but I just can't marry you today."
"This has to do with Bone? Doesn't it? You love him?" Brian state rather than asking.
A tear shined in each of her eyes, "I'm sorry Lucky. It's just that after the twins past away you became distant and well AJ was there to comfort me. I love you and I love him. I'm torn and confused. I can't marry you until I get my emotions squared away first."
"This has to do with Leigh Ann doesn't it," Brian asked, "You're punishing me for cheating on you," he said with tears in his eyes. His heart was breaking little by little with each passing moment.
"Lucky that isn't it. We've been together forever and I am in love with you. I just need a little time to decide what to do. Damn I even bore your children, but I am also in love with AJ. I can't walk down that aisle and say I do, when I know that you are not the only man I am in love with," Charmony cried.
*Out in the hall*
"What's going on," Nick asked AJ, who had his ear to the door of the bride's room. Nick was standing over AJ's shoulder
"Charm is having second thoughts about marrying Rok," AJ asnwered Nick.
"What's her reasoning?" Nick's curiosity got the best of him.
"She's not ready," AJ have lied. He didn't know what to do with the information he just barely heard through the wall.
*Back in the dressing room*
"You're ruin the happiest days of our lives just because you're confused," Brian said. He was appalled with Charmony at the moment, "I thought I was the one you would risk everything to be with, even give up your own life. You said you would follow me to the ends of the world, if it meant that we stayed together. Now...I don't even know you anymore," he detested.
Charmony broke down and sobbed great wracking sobs. Brian was right. She had promised him the things he had just said and now she felt guilty for breaking those promises. She felt guilty for spilling her confusion out on their wedding day. She felt disgusting. She didn't blame Brian if he hated her at the moment. She would hate herself if she were him. "I'm sorry," she breathed.
"I don't want to hear your apologies. Infact I don't even wabt to look at you right now. You lied to me Charm. You broke your promises. I doubt I'll be able to ever forgive you." Brian fumed, "Do you know how humilating this is? It's my wedding day and my bride is jilting me at the alter. This is low even for you Charm. How could you stoop this low?"
"I didn't mean it Brian," Charmony voiced in pain and tears. She never really called him Brian. This was one of the few times she has actually done this in her life, "Do you actually believe that I intentionally fell in love with AJ," she screamed, "Do you actually think I would do this to you on purpose? I can't help the way I feel about you two. These things happen!! Yes, It's shit ass timing. Yes it is humilating!! I wanted this day to come so badly for the last nine years!! It's finally here but guess what, we were hit with my past last year!! It came back in bit me in the ass. I'm sorry you feel that I betrayed you. I DID NOT MEAN IT!!!"
*Out in the hall*
Nick's eyes grew when he realized that Brain and Charmony were talking about AJ.
Practically the whole church could hear the two yelling by now. Even Kevin showed up behind AJ and Nick.
AJ and Nick looked up towards Kevin like two kids being caught peeking in to the girls' locker room with guilty grins.
Kevin stood over them towering them like an elementary school principal with his arms crossed tightly over his chest and the angriest face the two young adults had ever seen on him. "What the hell are you two doing? Can't you just let them have this conversation privately?"
"Sorry Kev," the two adults answered with sheepish grins and stepped away from the door.
As if on cue, the dressing room door swung open with and infuriated Brian stepping throw and a devastated Charmony following him.
"Charm and I aren't getting married today," Brian told his cousin glaring at AJ. "You're lucky we're in a church you son of a bitch, because if we weren't you and I would be having it out in a brawl," Brian threatened AJ and walked off.
A tear-stained Charmony followed mutely behind Brian to the church pews and sat down mutely as well beside Brian.
"What did I do," AJ asked cluelessly.
Nick shook his head and walked off. Kevin followed behind Nick and took his place at the alter.
After a brief announcement made by Kevin about his cousin and Charmony not getting married, the ceremony proceeded and Kevin and Kristin were married.
