Road To Perdition. MOVIE version. Starring Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, and Jude Law. Rated R I'm sure.

I don't usually review movies cause they piss me off so damn much, but this one really made me appreciate the lost art of film making. You see something like this, and then you wonder who the hell lets movies like The Fast And The Furious, or Pluto Nash get made.

Perdition's basic plot is sorta like Lone Wolf and Cub only more believeable. We get our basic tragedy of a young man and his Hitman father on the run from the mob after his wife and other child are murdered by said mob. I'm being really vague and probably saying too much there cause I don't wanna give away some really awesome storytelling, and drama.

The acting in this movie really made it over the top. Everytime I was wowed by a character someone would out do it. Tom Hanks played the perfect grim emotionless soldier, and then came along Paul Newman's flawed, caring, but still ruthless mafia boss. Then we got Stanley Tucci's rendition of a larger city mob boss. Then after that we got the sick character Jude Law played of a photographer/ hitman. And they all outdid each other in order of appearance, but then something really cool happened. Each actor came back and rebuked that and surpassed the other. It felt like a competition, and that's a real lost art in Hollywood these days. I haven't seen Paul Newman do such a good job in a movie in YEARS. Same with Hanks. There was no character that WASN'T believable, right down to the supporting cast.

This movie was so powerful, and just really perfect. The ONLY problem I have was with one scene. And you'll know which one it is when you see it. Its a scene where Paul Newman and Tom Hank's characters meet for the last time. They muted out all of the sound effects and just went with score. If I was the director it would have made it SO much more powerful if he had made it a totally silent scene. That's about it. A perfectly riveting drama, and we owe it all to a COMIC BOOK children. I loved hearing the shock on the elderly couple behind me when they showed in the credits that it was a graphic novel. "Harold what's a graphic novel??" "Ah, I'm not to sure Meryl....must be some kind of..." Zak: "Its a COMIC BOOK!" Meryl: "Oh why I never!" Harold: "Why that's the third monacle this week! I simply MUST stop being so horrified!" Ok well, that's not EXACTLY how it went, but you get the idea. Old people are stupid. That's the real lesson. That and Change or Die. Comics are becoming the dark horse of the American entertainment industry. Recognize.

10 shocked old people out of 10. Yeah, it was that good. You know I only read/ watch good stuff right?? That's why my ratings are always above five. Jerky.
