CHAPTER ONE
It was February 12, 6:17 P.M. Ash was lying on the couch with Pikachu and Bulbasaur, watching a Pokemon match on TV. It was a match between a Kangaskhan and Magmar. Bulbasaur and Pikachu were greedily stuffing their faces with popcorn. Then Bulbasaur accidentally knocked the popcorn bowl over and it spilled all over the place. Ash's mom came into the room. "Ash! Can you get your Pokemon to stop making a mess of my house?" she scowled. "Sorry, Mom." he said. Mr. Mimie ran in the moment he heard the word "mess" and started to vacuum up all the popcorn. Just then the phone rang. Ash's mother went to answer it and Ash, Bulbasaur, and Pikachu continued watching the Pokemon battle. Kangaskhan had lost and the trainer now sent out a Vaporeon that beat the Magmar in the blink of an eye. "Ash, that was Prof. Oak! He said he wants you to come over! He sounded worried!" his mother shouted from across the house. "Oh yeah, he said to bring all of your Pokemon too!" she added. Ash got off the couch, turned off the television, and put his shoes on. Then, with Bulbasaur and Pikachu, he ran upstairs to his room. In his room he looked for his Pokemon and found Charizard sleeping on the ground. "Charizard, Prof. Oak says he wants you and the other Pokemon to go to his laboratory with me." Ash explained. Charizard yawned, then nodded his head. Ash couldn't believe that Charizard actually listened for once. Then Ash ran to his bathroom and found Squirtle and Kingler soaking in the tub. "Prof. Oak wants us to go to his laboratory." Ash told them. "Squirt." Squirtle said, nodding his head. Kingler smiled. Ash and his Pokemon walked downstairs. He returned all of his Pokemon, (except for Pikachu of course) and started to walk out the door. "I'm leaving, Mom!" he said. "Aren't you going to take Muk?" his mother asked holding a Pokeball and her nose. "He did say all of your Pokemon." "Oh, all right." Ash didn't really want to bring Muk with him. It smelled. "Okay, bye!" he yelled. "Come straight home after you're done with what he wants you to do!" "Okay!" Ash walked to Prof. Oak's laboratory and knocked. He was greeted by Prof. Oak who took him inside. He found out that he wasn't the only one that Prof. Oak had called. There were four other trainers there. One was a Jr. Trainer and he looked like he was around nine years old. His skin was tan and he wore a red jersey with a white shirt under and blue windbreaker pants. He had a Dratini next to him. The one next to him looked around fourteen years old. He had white skin and black pants with a gray sweater. He had a hat on backwards, (which Ash thought was really cool) and there was a Pikachu next to him. His Pikachu ran up to Ash's Pikachu and they started to talk. The next one looked around fifteen years old and he had tan skin also. He was wearing black shorts and a plain white shirt with a gray vest. He had a Hitmonchan next to him. The last one looked about thirteen years old. She also had tan skin and was wearing blue overalls with a picture of Mew on the pockets and a white shirt that said: My name is Mew. It was plain to see that she was a Mew freak. She also had a necklace with something on it that Ash couldn't make out. He could only make out the word, "Never." Then Prof.Oak started to introduce them. "Ash, this is Peter." "Hi." the Jr. Trainer greeted. "That's Jose," "Just call me Junior." the kid with the hat on backwards said. "Luis," "What's up?" The boy with the shorts said. "And Melissa." "Call me Mew." the girl smiled. Ash was not surprised she wanted to be called Mew. "This is Ash." Prof. Oak said. "Hi Ash!" they all said simultaneously. "What reeks?" Luis asked, holding his nose. "I think its my Muk." Ash answered. Prof. Oak started to explain why he had called them there. "I have called you all here today because of something very terrible. A wild Pokemon has escaped. It is killing many people. Legend has it that this Pokemon will kill and eat all humans if it is not stopped." "What does it look like?" Junior inquired. "It looks like it is a dinosaur." Prof. Oak answered. "What kind?" Melissa questioned. Prof. Oak picked up a piece of paper with a picture of the ferocious Pokemon on it and showed it to them. "A Utahraptor!" Jose gasped. "What's a Utahraptor?" Ash asked. "Jose, you seem to be the expert on dinosaurs, what is a Utahraptor?" Prof. Oak asked. "I saw the movie Jurassic Park 100 times!" Junior said proudly. "Stupid!" Melissa punched Junior in the shoulder. "Ow! What did you do that for?" Junior screamed. "They don't know about Jurassic Park!" she whispered. "Jurassic Park?" Ash said, confused. "Oh yes, Ash, I forgot to tell you. Jose and Melissa used to live on another planet where Pokemon don't exist." "Oh." Ash said, still confused. "Jose, why don't you start to give a description of the Utahraptor." Prof. Oak said, wanting to move on. "A Utahraptor is like a giant Charmander, without the flame on its tail, of course. It has a long muzzle and many rows of sharp teeth. It is unique because it has sharp claws which can get up to twelve inches long! These give it the ability to open doors. It walks on its hind legs and can run at high speeds. It is about twenty feet in length and weighs about half a ton. It is VERY smart. And, unlike the Charmander, it is very, very, deadly." Junior told them. "What does all this have to do with us?" Luis asked. "You five are the best Pokemon trainers I could get a hold of. I want you to stop this Pokemon." Prof. Oak said with a frown on his face. "Count me in!" Melissa said right away. "I'll go." Luis volunteered. "You need me to help fight that creature." Junior said. "I want to go!" Peter smiled. "You must decide too, Ash." Prof. Oak said. "Please Ash." Melissa begged. "Yeah, I'll go too." he agreed. "One more thing." Prof. Oak started. "This Pokemon's name is Predator and it is every single type of Pokemon except for Psychic. Now you must hurry and go look for it. Melissa's Pokemon can help you." "What can she possibly have that will help us?" Ash asked. Melissa looked at Ash. "This." Melissa reached into her pocket and pulled out a whistle. She blew into it and did a slow, steady melody. Then, out of nowhere, a Mew appeared. "Mew." it said. Ash, Luis, and Peter's mouths dropped down so far they touched the ground. "Y-y-you have a Mew?!" Ash stammered. "Yes! I used a Masterball that I got for my birthday. She's so sweet, isn't she? I don't keep her in that Masterball anymore, though. She's still in training. I let her go where she pleases. She comes back when I blow my whistle and play my song. She can lead us to Predator." The Mew settled on Melissa's shoulder. "Ash," Prof. Oak started, "You should first phone your friends and ask them if they will go with you." Ash agreed, and called Brock, Misty, and Tracy. He explained to them what had happened. They agreed to meet at Cerulean City and begin there. Peter and Luis returned their Pokemon. Prof. Oak then sent them on their way. Ash remembered his mother told him to come straight home after he was done with what Prof. Oak wanted him to do. Now he wondered if he would ever come home again. "I don't want to walk!" Peter complained. "Okay then, we'll fly." Junior, Luis, and Melissa sent out their Flying Pokemon. Junior had a Fearow, Luis also had a Fearow, and Melissa had a Pidgeot. Melissa's Pidgeot had a blue collar on. Junior let Peter and his Pikachu ride on his Fearow with him. Ash looked at Melissa's Pidgeot and remembered his Pidgeot. "Ash, aren't you going to send out your Flying Pokemon?" Luis asked. "I don't have any." he confessed. "Here," Melissa said, patting the Pidgeot, "You can ride with me." Ash accepted her offer and, holding Pikachu, climbed on the Pidgeot. Melissa let her Mew travel to Cerulean by herself. Then they started to fly towards Cerulean City, on their quest to defeat Predator.
CHAPTER TWO
"Are we there yet?" Peter whined. "We're almost there." Junior reassured him. "I see Cerulean City ahead!" Melissa shouted from her Pidgeot. Melissa, Junior, and Luis told their Pokemon to land at Cerulean City. The Fearows started to glide down gracefully while Melissa's Pidgeot started to dive straight down. Melissa held on as if she had done this many times. Ash held on with all of his might as the Pidgeot dive-bombed towards Cerulean City. Pikachu was hiding in Ash's backpack. The Pidgeot was coming closer and closer to the ground. Ash held his breath. Melissa didn't even break a sweat. "AAAAAHHH!" Ash screamed. The Pidgeot stopped about three feet from the ground and landed softly. Melissa turned around and saw a very pale Ash. "What's the matter, Ash?" Melissa laughed. "Did my Pidgeot scare you? From what I heard, you are a fearless Pokemon trainer. Now that I see you here, I'm wondering why I ever thought of you as a role model." Ash was starting to get angry. "Poor little Ashton." Pikachu heard Melissa talking about his friend and jumped out of Ash's backpack. "Now I see why you don't have any Flying Pokemon." Ash lost his temper. "I challenge you to a Pokemon battle!" he shouted. "Pika!" Pikachu said angrily. "You're kidding, right?" Melissa laughed. "Melissa, if you want to make fun of me, we might as well make it a battle." he said crossly. "Okay then, if it's a fight you want, it's a fight you'll get." Melissa said in a more serious tone. Junior, Luis, and Peter landed, returned their Fearows, and hurried to see what all the commotion was about. "We just got here, Melissa, and you're already battling? When will you learn not to fight?" Junior sighed. "Junior, do you want me to battle you instead?" Melissa stared. "No! You already beat me once. I just thought you could let him off this time." Junior said, trying to break them up. "He challenged me. Now he will suffer the consequences. Return, Pidgeot!" "Don't be so sure." Ash said angrily. "Pokeball, go!" Ash threw a Pokeball and out popped Kingler. Kingler started to foam up bubbles. "Pokeball, go!" Melissa threw her Pokeball. Out popped a Ninetales with a pink collar around its neck. "Ninetales." it said. "Cool. They're going to battle." Luis said, excited. "Kingler, Bubble!" Kingler sucked in air and blew out bubbles at Melissa's Ninetales. Ninetales dodged and used Quick Attack on Kingler. Then it used Confuse Ray. Kingler became Confused. It turned around and ran into a pole, falling over. "Looks like you need to train your Pokemon better." Melissa laughed. "Arrgh! Return, Kingler! Bulbasaur! I choose you!" "Return, Ninetales! Pokeball, go!" Ash sent out Bulbasaur and Melissa threw her Pokeball. It was the beautiful Arcanine. Arcanine had a blue collar on. "Aarrrr!" the Arcanine howled. Ash noticed that Melissa's Pokemon all had collars on, except for her Mew. "What's with the blue and pink collars?" he asked. "It helps me remember which Pokemon are which. My parents were some of the best Pokemon breeders, and they had two of almost every Pokemon. The collars help me see if the Pokemon is a girl or a boy. I think Mew looks cuter without the collar though." she explained. Ash wanted to get the battle started. "Bulbasaur, Solar Beam!" Bulbasaur jumped high into the air, collecting sunlight. It shot a beam of light at Arcanine, who let itself get hit. Arcanine didn't even wince. "What?" Ash yelled. Melissa smirked. Arcanine had fire in its eyes. It let out a burst of fire that burned Bulbasaur to a crisp. "Two down." Melissa smiled. Ash refused to give up. He needed a powerful Pokemon. "Return, Bulbasaur! Go, Charizard!" Ash threw his next Pokeball and Charizard came out. "Return, Arcanine! Go, Flammy!" Melissa threw her next Pokeball and surprisingly, another Charizard came out. Charizard had a pink collar on. Ash's Charizard growled when he saw Melissa's Charizard. "Charizard, Flamethrower!" Ash commanded. Charizard must have really wanted to fight, because he obeyed Ash. He let out a very powerful flame aimed at Flammy. Flammy flew high into the sky, barely dodging Ash's Charizard's attack. Ash's Charizard flew up after Flammy. Flammy Slashed Ash's Charizard. Ash's Charizard rammed Flammy in the stomach and they fell towards the ground. Flammy climbed up Ash's Charizard and kicked off of it before they collided with the ground. Ash's Charizard hit the hard cement and let out a roar of pain. Flammy then Fire Spinned Ash's Charizard. Ash noticed that Melissa didn't command her Pokemon. They chose the attacks, and did they ever choose them well. "Hey, Ash!" a familiar voice called. Ash looked and saw Misty with Tracy running towards them. "This match will be postponed." Melissa said. Melissa returned Flammy, and Ash returned his Charizard, who would have lost if Misty hadn't got there. "Where's Brock and Togepi?" Ash asked Misty. "Brock said he would be here as soon as he could. My sisters are taking care of Togepi for me." Misty answered. Melissa then thought up a plan to make Ash jealous. "Misty, what kind of Pokemon do you like to collect?" Melissa asked. "Water. Why?" "I like to collect Fire myself, well anyway, I have something for you." Melissa stuck her hand in her pocket and pulled out her Pokedex and a Pokeball. She pushed a white button and switched Pokeballs with the computer. Then she gave the Pokeball to Misty. Misty threw the Pokeball. A beam flashed to reveal a Vaporeon with a blue collar. "Por!" it said. "A Vaporeon!" Misty gasped. "Thank you." she told Melissa. "I had two with Prof. Oak so I thought since you like Water Pokemon you would want it." Then Melissa turned to Tracy. "What kind of Pokemon do you like, Tracy?" Melissa asked. "I don't have a favorite, but I do like to watch Pokemon." Tracy said. "Here." Melissa switched another Pokeball and gave it to Tracy. Tracy threw his Pokeball and a Chansey popped out. Chansey had what looked more like a pink necklace than a collar. "Thank you." he said happily. Ash was becoming jealous and that's exactly what Melissa wanted. He knew it. "Hey, guys! Here comes Brock!" Luis shouted. "And I know how to make him really jealous." Melissa thought. "Hey, Brock!" Melissa shouted. "What kind of Pokemon do you like?" "Who are you?" he asked. "Call me Mew. What kind of Pokemon do you like?" she repeated. "Rock." he replied. Melissa did the same thing she did with Misty and Tracy and gave Brock a Pokeball. He threw it. Out popped the extinct Pokemon Aerodactyl with a blue collar on. "Where did you get this?" he asked. "Never mind that! It's yours." "Thanks." Ash was exploding with envy. Misty, Tracy, and Brock returned their new Pokemon and thanked Melissa one more time. "Well, we better get started. Hey Mew, why don't you call your Pokemon already?" Ash asked. "Sure." Melissa pulled out her whistle and played the slow melody again. Ash didn't see Melissa's Mew anywhere. "It looks like your Pokemon's a no-show." Ash laughed. Melissa just smiled. Ash then realized he didn't have his hat on. Melissa's Mew then appeared, put the hat on Melissa, and stood on Melissa's shoulder. Ash only knew one thing. He didn't like Melissa at all.
CHAPTER THREE
"That's it!" Ash said. "I quit. You go defeat Predator by yourself!" Melissa felt sorry for Ash, so she started to reach into her pocket. She grabbed a Pokeball and said, "Hey Ash. Here, you can have this." Melissa pushed a button on the Pokedex so that she would have six again after giving away that Pokemon. Just then, they heard people screaming behind them. They turned around to see people running in many directions, but no sign of Predator. They heard a strange, angry, shrill. "He's after you, Ash." Ash heard Melissa say. He looked at her. He saw her eyes widen. "Run." she whispered. "Run!" she said, with more urgency. Everyone turned around and saw a black figure coming towards them. They all ran, except Melissa's Mew stayed by her side. She made sure that Peter ran ahead of everyone. Then she told Mew to watch over Peter. Then she turned and ran too. She ran very fast. Everyone was running for dear life. Ash turned his head for a minute to see the strange creature running after him. He speeded up, but he was trailing behind. Junior was running the fastest he ever ran in his life. Everyone was running when Melissa heard Ash scream. She stopped and looked back to see that Ash had been bitten in the shoulder and was on the ground with Predator on top of him. Ash had his hands up, trying to keep Predator from biting him again. Melissa didn't like to fight physically. Melissa turned back the other direction to see that everyone was far away and they were still running, even the Pikachus and her Mew. Melissa had to think fast. She couldn't risk the chance of getting her Pokemon killed. Ash was fighting off Predator with all of his might. His arm burned with pain from getting bitten. He knew the end would soon be near. He closed his eyes, ready for the death strike, then felt around. He opened his eyes to see that Predator wasn't on him. He looked around to see Predator on the ground with Melissa right by it. Melissa had tackled Predator with her elbow. Predator recovered and jumped on Melissa. "Run, Ash! He isn't after you anymore!" Melissa yelled. Ash didn't listen. He ran up to Predator from behind and pulled its tail. Ash remembered that Predator weighed about half a ton and he couldn't pull it off of her. Predator felt his tail being pulled and whipped Ash in the stomach with it. Predator then turned to Ash. Melissa tackled Predator again. "I don't like physical fighting! This time run when I tell you to!" she ordered. Melissa made sure Ash ran this time and she ran in the other direction. "Maybe he won't be able to choose which one to go after if we split up." Melissa thought. She was wrong. Ash turned to see Predator going after Melissa. Melissa stopped. Predator stopped too. She did a spin kick and hit Predator in the jaw. Then she did a side kick right in Predator's stomach. "Hey, she's pretty good." Ash thought aloud. Melissa did a double kick on Predator's neck and he fell to the ground. But he wasn't going to give up. He was ready for the next kick. Melissa tried to side kick again. Ash watched in horror as Predator bit into her calf. She screamed with pain. Predator let her go and she fell to the ground, clutching her calf. Ash realized she couldn't run. He ran back towards Predator. Predator noticed Ash at the last minute and whipped him with his tail again. Ash fell back. He got the wind knocked out of him. He struggled to get up. Melissa tried to ignore the pain in her leg and get up. She jumped on Predator's neck and held on tight. "Ash, I don't like to fight physically! Now please RUN!" Melissa ordered once more. Ash was ignoring her. Predator swung its head down and Melissa was thrown off. Ash was going to tackle Predator but Predator turned and Ash was whipped once again with his tail. Melissa used her good leg and tripped Predator. Predator got up. "Does he ever give up?" Ash thought. The truth was, Predator had only begun to fight. Predator glowed yellow, then let out a burst of electricity at Ash. Ash flew many yards and hit the ground hard. He grimaced with pain. Melissa was becoming weak from losing blood. Ash used all of his strength to get back up and started to run back to Predator. Predator had just about enough of this. He picked up Melissa and ran towards the screaming people. Ash could hear Melissa screaming. He gave chase. Predator ran down a dark alley. Ash followed and nearly slipped on a bottle. Predator ran and knocked over a garbage can with his tail. Ash jumped over it. There was a pit ahead. He saw Predator stop, glow, then jump. Right in the middle of the pit, he blew fire. The fire was too high and Ash couldn't jump. "Melissa!" he shouted. He heard Melissa's scream fade away. He started to walk back. A tear ran down his eye. He walked for what seemed to be an eternity when he reached the place where they fought Predator. He saw blood stains on the ground. He walked further. He looked up and saw that everyone was running back towards him. Misty ran up to Ash's side. "She-she's gone." he said sadly. Then Ash saw something on the ground. It was Melissa's necklace. It read "Never Give Up." Ash saw all of Melissa's Pokeballs and whistle next to the necklace. Ash picked up the Pokeball Melissa was trying to give him and threw it. Out came an Articuno. Ash looked back up to see Melissa's Mew floating before him. She had sad eyes. "What happened?" Junior said, as he ran up to Ash. "Where's Melissa?" "Predator." Ash said sadly. Junior's eyes widened. "She saved my life. We have to avenge her death." Ash said, wiping away his tears. "Predator must die. Mew, can you lead us to Predator?" "Mew." the Mew said, nodding her head. Ash picked up the whistle. "Then let's go."
CHAPTER FOUR
They were all very sad because of the events that happened in the last hour. Ash found out that you never really care about someone until they are gone. Melissa's Mew told Pikachu that the fastest way to Predator was to fly. Ash deposited Kingler, Muk, Charizard, and Bulbasaur to be looked after by Prof. Oak. He now had a Mew and Articuno. He checked the rest of Melissa's Pokeballs and found her Arcanine, her Ninetails, a Rapidash, Flammy, and an Entei? Ash took out his Pokedex. "Entei, one of the three legendary dogs. Its type is Fire." bleeped the Pokedex. "Wow. Melissa sure liked to collect Fire Pokemon." Ash thought. Ash decided to take Entei and Rapidash. Tracy decided he wanted to look after Arcanine, Junior took Ninetails, and Brock took Flammy. Pikachu told Ash what Mew had said. Ash had a hard time trying to figure out what Pikachu was saying. "Hey, Ash! Take a look at this!" Brock called. Ash ran to Brock's side. He looked at what Brock was pointing at. On the ground was a device that looked like a hearing aid. It was labled "Melissa." Ash picked it up and studied it. Mew flew up to him and grabbed it. "What did you do that for?" he asked. Mew put the strange device in Ash's ear. "That's what I did that for." the Mew said. "A Pokemon translator?" Ash said. "Hey Brock, put this in your ear." Brock took the strange device and slipped it in his ear. "Melissa used it to get to know her Pokemon better. She knew what they wanted with it. Without it, she couldn't train some of her Pokemon." Mew explained to Brock. "Maybe we should take this to Prof. Oak." Brock suggested. "Okay." They each sent out their Flying Pokemon. Only this time, Ash had Articuno and Brock was there with Aerodactyl. Peter rode with Junior and Pikachu again, Luis rode alone, Tracy rode with Brock, Misty rode with Ash and his Pikachu, and Mew flew. They landed at Pallet Town and returned their Pokemon, except the Pikachus and Mew. They ran to Prof. Oak's lab and Ash knocked on the door. No one answered. He knocked again, and again and again and again. Finally, he commanded Mew to break the door down. She obeyed and used Mega Punch on the door. The door knocked down easily, surprisingly. What they saw when they walked in was horrible. Everything was completely trashed. "Looks like Predator paid this place a visit." Luis said. There were papers from a file cabinet all over the floor. The windows were broken, and the walls had claw marks all over them. A Vaporeon and a Cubone were on the ground. Misty ran to the back room where all of the Pokemon were kept and saw that they were all loose. Brock was looking at the claw marks on the wall. They were deep. But what caught Ash's eye was Prof. Oak lying on the ground, surrounded by blood, almost dead. Ash gasped. "Prof. Oak!" He ran over to the Professor's side. "Brock, get some bandages!" he ordered. The others went to help Brock while Ash and Misty stayed at Prof. Oak's side. They bandaged Prof. Oak and waited. They couldn't leave him there by himself. Mew teleported to the nearby hospital to see if they could get help. The hospital was trashed too. Everyone fell asleep except Mew, Pikachu, and Ash. Finally, Ash fell into an uneasy slumber. He kept having this nightmare. He was standing on the ledge and there were flames in front of him. Melissa's screams rang in his mind over and over again. The next morning they were all very hungry. Brock gave Mew some money and she teleported and came back with food. After they finished eating they heard Prof. Oak groan. Mew read his mind and showed everyone what had happened. Prof. Oak was pouring himself some coffee when Predator broke in through the window. Prof. Oak looked at Predator, then looked outside at something. Predator made a strange, angry noise, then attacked Prof. Oak. Brock, who still had the Pokemon translator in his pocket, translated, "Send someone to destroy me, will you?" They all watched in horror as Predator destroyed the lab and released all of the Pokemon. "Mew, can you zoom in on what Prof. Oak was looking at outside?" Ash asked. Mew showed Prof. Oak looking outside, then zoomed in on the window. Melissa was on the ground, unconscious. They could see her breathing, but she was unconscious. Ash could see her leg was still bleeding and she still had his hat on. "She's still alive!" Ash gasped. "There's still time! We can save her and defeat Predator! Tracy, you stay here with Prof. Oak until he gets better and the rest of us will go save Melissa." "Okay." he said, nodding his head. "Here's Melissa's whistle in case you need help, and here's the Pokemon translator we found." Ash handed Tracy the Pokemon translator and the whistle. "But doesn't Melissa play a certain song to call on her Mew?" Tracy asked. "Well, make up a new song." Tracy made up a new song with the whistle. "Whenever you hear that song, Mew, you come right away. Okay?" Ash told Mew. "Mew." she said, nodding her head. "Let's go save Melissa!" Ash yelled.
CHAPTER FIVE
Ash was determined to defeat Predator. Ash got to thinking that maybe Melissa wasn't so bad after all. Especially since she saved his life. He also didn't want anything to happen to Misty. He didn't think to leave her with Prof. Oak until they had flown for about an hour. They were flying in the air with Mew leading. Mew led them over the ocean and to a distant island. Ash was surprised that Predator lived so far out to sea. Predator had to be an excellent swimmer to be able to swim that far out. Come to think of it, he had to be a good runner to be able to run that distance. They kept flying over the island. Suddenly, a fireball came into the air aimed at Mew. Mew saw it in time and teleported and Ash's Articuno was hit in the wing. Ash's Articuno tumbled towards the forest below. Pikachu and Misty held tight to Ash's coat and they hit the ground with a hard impact. Ash knew that Articuno could not fly in this condition. "Return, Articuno!" He zapped Articuno back into the Pokeball. "What are we going to do now?" Misty asked. Meanwhile, in the air, everyone else glided over the forest. Mew dived into the trees. She found Ash and Misty. Everyone was starting to get worried. "We should keep going. I'm sure Ash found some way to get out." Brock said. They all kept heading in the direction Mew was leading them. When they got to the end of the forest, something burst out of the trees. Sure enough, it was Ash, Misty, and Pikachu riding on Rapidash, with Mew leading. "He's okay!" Peter said happily. "Come on guys, we've got a Pokemon to defeat!" Luis shouted. They all started flying in the direction of the white dot with red flows on it. Then they saw Mew stop in front of a cave. Mew flew back up to the two Fearows and the Aerodactyl. "Mew, Mew, Mew." it said. "I think she wants us to land here." Junior said. After everyone landed, they walked into the cave. They came to a five way corridor. Mew looked at everyone, then motioned for them to go down the path in the middle. They went through a series of corridors before hearing a growl. Ash looked through a hole in the wall and saw Predator sniffing around. No sign of Melissa. Ash rushed down to face Predator. Predator looked at him, then let out an angry shriek. Predator rushed at Ash. Just then, Mew flew in front of Ash and used Barrier to protect him. "Melissa's Mew knows Barrier?" Ash whispered. Predator slammed into the Barrier and fell to the ground. Ash then decided he was going to battle Predator. "Go Mew!" he shouted. Mew flew in front of Predator. Predator snapped at her. She moved away, then she started to change shape. She grew a long muzzle. Her paws grew into claws that got twelve inches long. Her tail grew longer and thicker. Before long, Mew was the perfect copy of Predator. Predator looked at Mew, then growled and ran at her with his head perfectly aligned with his backbone. He tackled her in the stomach. They rolled on the ground, clawing, biting, and snarling. After a while, no one could figure out which Pokemon was which. The fight reminded Junior of Melissa's cats Oreo and Nano fighting with each other when they used to be on Earth. Well, the Earth that he used to live on. They both stood up. One Pokemon started to glow blue while the other glowed white. The one that was glowing blue shot out a jet of water. The other grew wings and quickly flew into the air, just dodging the water. The one still on the ground didn't hesitate and grew wings and flew in the air. They both started glowing red. Then they both let out bursts of fire at each other. No one could see where they were because of the fire. Then all they saw was a Pokemon come out of the fire and go straight down into the ground. The fire cleared to reveal the other one flapping its wings. It landed. "Who fell?" Ash thought aloud. Then, the one that had slammed into the ground shrunk to reveal Mew. Predator let out a victorious shriek. Ash's mouth dropped open. He had lost. Ash's Pikachu walked over to Mew. Mew started to talk to Pikachu. Pikachu ran over to Ash and told him that the whistle had been blown. Ash grabbed a Pokeball and threw it to reveal Articuno, fully recovered. "Articuno, go to Prof. Oak's lab and see what Tracy wants. And hurry!" Ash commanded. Articuno flapped its wings at high speed, using Agility, and flew out of the cave. Predator very slowly started to suck its wings back inside its body. Everyone split up and ran in all directions. Predator chose the smallest and weakest to go after. Peter. Predator ran after Peter who hid in a hole. Predator clawed and snapped but he couldn't reach Peter. Ash grabbed a rock and threw it at Predator. Predator turned to Ash. Just then, Articuno flew back in and hit Predator as it landed. Predator's head hit the wall of the cave with a thud. "Great timing." Ash said. Articuno had a pouch on it that Brock immediately grabbed. He looked inside. It was a Hyper Potion and some of those Pokemon translators that Melissa had been using. Junior grabbed the Hyper Potion from Brock and sprayed it on Mew. Mew got up and started to transform again. Predator slowly opened his eyes to see Mew transforming into him again. When Mew was completely transformed, she ran and tackled Predator. Brock gave everyone a Pokemon translator and Luis helped Peter get out of the hole. "Go see if you can find Melissa! I’ll hold him off as long as I can!" Mew shouted. They slowly creeped past Predator and walked down a corridor. They came to another series of corridors again. "We’ll split up. Ash, Misty and Pikachu, you go that way, Brock and Luis, you go that way, and Peter, Pikachu, and I will go this way." Junior said. Everyone agreed and started the search. It was starting to get dark. Ash walked with Pikachu on his head and Misty at his side. They walked and walked. Then, they came to a dead end. "So, it’s not this way." Ash told Misty. "What's that on the ground, Ash?" Misty asked, pointing at something. Ash bent down and picked up six Pokeballs. "Who knows?" Ash shrugged. They started to walk back when they heard Brock and Luis shout, "We found her!" Ash started to run and when he reached the end of the corridor, he nearly knocked Junior over. They all ran down the corridor that Brock and Luis took and found them peering behind a rock. "She’s behind this rock." Brock said. Misty went and looked behind the rock. "Ash, Melissa’s not the only one they found." Misty said with half a giggle. They all grabbed the rock and pulled it out of the way. Melissa was sitting against a wall. "I wasn’t expecting you guys to come this early." Melissa smiled. "When were you expecting us?" Ash asked. "Never." she replied. "Oh yeah. Here Ash." She grabbed Ash’s hat off of her head and tossed it at him. He put it on. Ash looked across and sitting against the other wall was a boy with a purple shirt on and a yellow and green ying-yang necklace. It was Gary!
CHAPTER SIX
"Gary?! What are you doing in here?" Ash asked. "Gramps called me and asked me if I could help him with a problem. I said I was too busy but when I heard he was going to send YOU instead then I decided to challenge this Pokemon. But when I met him he..." "He totally smashed his Pokemon into oblivion." Melissa interuppted. Gary glared at her angrily. "Hey! You didn't defeat him!" Melissa glared back at him. "I didn't use any of my Pokemon." "Because they were probably all weaklings!" "They're better trained than yours!" "Chill, chill." Brock said calmly. "Brock's right. We have to get back there and defeat that Pokemon once and for all." Misty said. Melissa tried to get up and winced. She turned her leg over and looked at it. It was badly damaged. Ash threw a Pokeball and Rapidash came out. "You have a Rapidash!" Melissa exclaimed. Ash nodded. "Not only that, we all took care of some." He was about to hand her a Pokeball but she refused it. "Keep them. You can have the rest, too." Ash's eyes widened. "You'd give your Pokemon away just like that?" he asked. "Oh, they're not mine. My parents bred them and I trained them. My Pokemon stay home while I train the young ones and give them to responsible trainers. The Articuno and Entei are clones." Melissa explained. Ash's mouth dropped open. "You mean to tell me that these aren't your Pokemon?" Ash asked. Melissa smiled. "Yep. I'll get mine right now." She took out a strange device from her pocket. It opened up into a cellular phone and she dialed some numbers. "Yes, Mom? This is Melissa. Never mind where I am right now! I need some of my Pokemon. Okay, send me Eevee, Kaze, Aura, Jasmine, and Beauty. Yes, I do want those now. Send them! Bye!" She put the phone away and five Pokeballs appeared in front of her. "Cool." Misty said. "Let's go, guys!" Melissa threw one of the Pokeballs and a huge dragon came out. Ash could tell it was a Charizard, sort of. At the sight of them the Charizard jumped in front of Melissa. "Easy, Beauty, easy." Melissa said, in a soothing voice. "They're friends. Now up!" Melissa said. The Charizard lowered her head and scooped up Melissa onto her back. Ash could almost hear the thing chirp in delight. The Charizard turned and flew down the corridor. Ash looked at Junior who shrugged. "Let's just follow her." Junior said. They ran down the hall after her. Gary didn't follow. When Beauty saw Predator attacking Mew, she roared angrily. Predator took a step back at the sight of her. He sprayed a blast of water at Beauty, but Melissa only laughed. "Predator, too bad you can't sniff out Water-Proof Scale Cream when it's on the Pokemon you're facing." Beauty hissed and let out a burst of flame at Predator, just as Mew ran to her side. Predator fell back. "Come on Beauty, use the old long distance Seismic Toss." Melissa said. Beauty nodded and went to grab Predator. She crashed through the roof of the cave, no problem. Then she flew over to a volcano on the island and did her attack. She flew many miles in the air with Melissa on her back and Predator in her claws. Then, she grabbed Predator by the claw and swng him down towards the volcano as hard as she could. He looked like a comet heading towards Earth. When he landed in the lava, he didn't come out. Melissa knew that he would never come out again. Beauty flew back to the cave and everyone flew back to Pallet Town. Everyone was glad that the Prof. was okay. Melissa got to a hospital for her leg and everyone listened while her mom and dad berated her for going into such a dangerous place. "They sound like someone's mom I know." Misty said, elbowing Ash. Ash laughed nervously when he remembered that his mom didn't expect him to be gone that long. Two weeks later, when everyone was done getting healed and being yelled at by their parents, Melissa called everyone over and said that it was an emergency. They all ran to her house. "Something's happened to Mew!" she cried when they arrived. She ran around her house calling. Ash looked around the stables of the house and went inside one of them. There he saw a huge Ninetales laying with something. The Ninetales had a two scars, one across its eye and one on its right hind leg. He took a closer look and no sooner did he than the Ninetales was on top of him, growling. Melissa came running and saw him on the ground. "Blaze, you can get off. He's a friend." The Ninetales sniffed Ash and then went back to its spot. Melissa looked around the stable. Everyone came running when they heard her scream. When they all got there she was staring at her Mew. It was crying weakly and its stomach was enlarged. "I don't remember any male Mews running about, so why is she giving birth?!" Melissa yelled. Ash looked down at the Mew. She was about to deliver new life. Suddenly a head appeared and then the rest of the small body. Melissa was breathing heavily. Her Mew just had a daughter. Melissa picked her up. "Why are you getting all weird, Melissa?" Junior asked. Melissa took a deep breath. "Because taking care of a Mew is the hardest thing in the world. They are the most curious Pokemon and play with their powers a lot. I barely survived taking care of her when I first got her." Melissa said, pointing to her Mew. "Oh, my gosh. My head already hurts." Melisa groaned. "So what are you going to name her?" Ash asked. "Hmmm. I think I'll name her Kimi." Melissa said. Everyone but Junior, Ash, and Misty left. Melissa cradled the little kitten in her arms. Then she gave it back to Mew. The little think started to nurse and fell asleep quickly. "It's sooo cute!" Misty said. Ash rolled his eyes. "Hey, look. She has pink on her tail and the tips of her ears!" Melissa smiled. "That's how I can tell her apart from Mew when she gets older. I need to put this on her." Melissa said, getting something from her pocket. She reached over and put what looked like a small band on the Mew's tail. "That shows her name, identification number, trainer, and address. You guys should get going while I try to explain this to myself. My parents won't mind but I will." Melissa said to them. They all nodded and left, leaving Melissa with her Mew. "Oh, my gosh. It's been a long month and I hope that I don't die from the stress this year." Melissa said. Mew looked at her. "Mew, mew mew mew mew." (Well, there is a bright side to all of this.) Melissa looked back at her. "Oh yeah? And what's that?" Melissa asked. "Mew mew mew mew mew mew!" (You now have two of your favorite Pokemon!) Melissa groaned and grabbed her head. "This is going to be a looooooong year." she moaned. "Wait a second! We forgot about Gary!"
