LONDON TO CANTERBURY TO PARIS - Sunday, June 4, 2000

by Judy Sadler

We bid farewell to the Lilly Hotel, Earl's Court, and London, and boarded a tour bus that brought us to Canterbury - a town that has never taken that giant step into the future.

You may enjoy visiting either this site or
this one.

We arrived shortly before Sunday morning services were to begin, and caught a glimpse of the choir boys making their way into the Cathedral.

We had a ferry to catch and sadly were unable to attend the services or even to see inside. But we were given almost two hours to tour this picturesque and beautiful little town.

One of our Own Tried to Earn some Money as a Living Statue

In times past in the Town of Canterbury, suspected witches were tried by strapping them to the dunking chair and dunking them in the Storr River. If they drowned, then they were proven to not be witches (unfortunately they were dead); and if they did not drown, they were executed as witches (the original lose/lose situation). Incidentally, Suzy said no witches were ever found.

After too short a stay, we walked out of Canterbury to

the bus park along the banks of the Storr,

which flowed serenely out of Canterbury as it had for centuries.
