Things to Write About: (My little Thoughts)

It's like in highschool...
In highschool I had an English teacher, Mr. Palen, who would write three quotes on the board each week. We were to write a one page essay on one of them. I haven't really done this since that year, but I have always enjoyed it. So why not write for myself? Or others I suppose. Here is my opinion on the world.

love
dating
friends
opinions
college
teaching
learning
materialism
music
depression
the news
colors
astrology signs
social settings
pessimism
writing
other people
knowledge
extending outside ourselves

These are all the things I want to write about. As I finish my thought for the moment, I'll put up a link. If there's no link, there's no thought... yet.

My first project.
Went discount shopping and got really bored, so I browsed the book area. I love books, but haven't had the luxury to read them lately. Picked up the Roget's College Thesaurus. I've always wanted a thesaurus; my first thesaurus experience was in fourth grade when our CHALLENGE (short for smart kids who get bored easily) group made our own. Ever since I have been fascinated. Thesaurus, otherwise known as Shift-F7, is my best friend.
So hmmm... I decided to put my hard earned money to work and get using my wonderful Thesaurus. Rex... that's what I'll call her. Yes, I wanted to use Rex, good old Rex. Well, the only word that my mind could filter out, the one probably more used than any other in so many connotations, was love. Let's see... love. Well, wouldn't you know, love has almost an entire page devoted to its special self. Mind you there is no real definition of love, but that makes sense. That's why there are so many other words for it.

Love."1, love, fondness, liking; inclination, DESIRE; regard, admiration, affection, tenderness, heart, attachment, yearning; gallantry; passion, flame, devotion, infatuation, adoration; spark, ardor, idolatry. See ENDEARMENT, FEELING, PLEASURE, MARRIAGE...
Verbs-1, love, like, fancy, care for, favor, become enamored, fall or be in love with; go with, go together, keep company; revere, take to, make much of, hold dear, prize, hug, cling to, cherish, pet; adore, idolize, love to distraction, dote on, desire; throw oneself at, lose or give one's heart." The list goes on.

Thinking about love and its myriad of meanings... I thought to look up next the word "lust". On to LUST!
Lust:"DESIRE, carnality, sex, sensuality, lasciviousness; satyriasis, nymphomania, voracity, avarice, greed, drive, itch. Slang, the hots, yen --v.i. covet, crave, hunger, DESIRE, yearn, etc. See IMPURITY."

Well that was interesting. But the impurity thing, that really caught my eye. So I decided I should "See IMPURITY" and find out if there was something I was missing.

Impurity (Wow! Almost more alternatives than love!) I'll just narrow it down to the more interesting/ odd ones. "1, impurity, UNCLEANNESS; immodesty, grossness, indelicacy, indecency; pornography, obscenity, ribaldry, smut, bawdry, filth, double entendre.
2, laxity, looseness of morals, turpitude, depravity, pollution, profligacy, shame, vice. See BADNESS."
Some other interesting words from this collection: carnality, fornication, perversion, abuse, whorehouse, concubine, tart, wench, floozy, etc...

The shame and utter humiliation, and yes disdain of the very thought of all those words. I had no idea that lust could lead to such things. And that love in some odd sense is related as well.

Next idea:
Procurement of knowledge and other people's opinions.
