If you think that turtles are very slow, think again! The Bebe's are pretty fast! I have a story with a happy ending about Bebe 1. Bebe 1 was my smallest turtle. It started right after I cleaned Bebe 1's cage. I put the cage next to the shady windowsill with Bebe 1 inside. Then I walked away for a while. After about an hour, I went back to the cage and realized what I had done wrong. I had accidentally left the top of the cage off! I had forgotten to put if back on! Even worse, when I looked into the cage....Bebe 1 was gone. I looked all over and around the cage, but Bebe 1 was really gone. He had climbed out when I couldn't see him! That night I put turtle food everywhere in the house and left lights on. The next day I could see that Bebe 1 had not eaten any of the food at all. Then finally, in the afternoon, something brown about as big as a quarter appeared next to my shoe. It was Bebe 1 all covered with dust! I picked him up and washed and washed and cleaned and rinsed him until he was all clean. From then on, I always remembered to close the cage tightly!
