[Nate] Jay Wicks my former companion in the ministry and I have heard a Non-professing historian who was given a lecture in North bend, Oregon on the church history during the dark ages. She spoke about Peter Waldo (Apostle) and his companions missions, their doctrines, teachings, etc... We find more about him and his fellow-workers through the Pilgrim Church book on chapter V.
There are many others historical documents books are given on our websites beside the Pilgrim Church, the Cross and Crown (1881) written by Non-professing historians.. The readers can read The ancient Vallenses [sic] and Albigeneses [sic] by George s. Faber, "Facts and documents illustrative of the history and doctrine and rites of the Ancient Albigenses and Waldenses" written by S.R. Maitland. These books will prove these NO name sect Christians believe and practice in Apostolic succession for 1800 yrs of years..."
[Clay]Please be aware that referring to a pseudo-Christian sect from the 12 Century goes absolutely nowhere toward proving apostolic succession, since apostolic succession must be proven immediately after the apostles, not over 1000 years later. Furthermore, when one considers the fact that the Waldenses retained Catholic practices like communion, infant baptism, confession, it becomes fairly obvious that the Waldenses were not the first 2x2s - they weren't even the first Baptists - they were merely a schismatic group within the Catholic Church. And again, even if the Waldenses were the first 2x2's, they're 12 centuries too late to prove apostolic succession anyway. For those interested, I would refer you to the following:
McGoldrick's Baptist Successionism: A Crucial Question in Baptist History (The American Theological Library Association and The Scarecrow Press, 1994)
Giorgio Tourn's The Waldensians : The First 800 Years tr. C.P. Merlino (Torino, Italy: Claudiana Editrice, 1980)
Incidently, McGoldrick is a Baptist historian who has shown that Baptists have no claim to desendancy from the Waldenses..... **
