The Gods are Restless

In the afternoon, just a few hours before it began, it was a very warm, summer day. Beautiful flowers bloomed like mad. Sun shone down upon all. It seemed like a perfect day. But gradually, the sky had grown thick with grey spiraling clouds, running a chill up and down the spines of many. By dinner time, rain had begun to tap the windows, like a thousands fingers wanting to get inside. A small girl watched the storm arise. Her memories drifted back to how her mother had told her, when she was very young, that storms were two birds, one of thunder, one of water, battling in anger of one another. Of course, she later learned that rain and thunder were created by nature, not powerful fantasy birds. But, by the end of the night, she would have learned to keep believing in some things... The rain grew heavier at a surprising rate. The little girl just watched, the sky slowly growing darker. A flash of light blinded the sky, followed by a low rumble of thunder. The storm was growing. Raindrops grew, each one bigger than the last. Flowers within the garden outside swayed back and forth, being whacked by these bullets of water. Lightning flashed and thunder crackled. A tremendous flash covered the sky, closely followed with a crack so loud, it could have made the heavens tremble. The rain continued to get heavier, carrying various debris along the side of the road. More lightning, more thunder, and more rain came. The girl's heartbeat began to quicken as the strom grew in an angry rage. Not one could have guessed this sky had ever had sunny days. More strings of light shot down from the darkness. The girl could not explain it, but she was feeling nausious from heat, when it was a very cold night. Yet another flash cut across the sky, followed by a low rumble. A blinding flash streaked very close, and a deafining explosion was to be heard from a very long way. Clouds of smoke arose from the street in front of her, which blew away quickly in the high winds. It was if a bomb had gone off in the street. A huge ditch was carved into the ground. Lightning had struck. Something caught two her eye. Two swooping figures descended from the heavens. Were they giant bats? She looked closely. They were birds! They came close, so close she could see them distinctly, regardless of the dark. One was a silverish blue, with a curving neck. The other was a vivid yellow, with a body and wings shaped like spikes. She gazed with awe. They were the two that battled in storms! She began thinking of the stories she could tell after this expierience. It was then that the yellow one saw her. It turned to look at her. She tried to duck out of it's view, but with no luck. It let out a loud cry that was lost in the rain. Thousands of tendrels of electricity ran throughout its body. They shot into the sky. The last thing she remembered was a blinding light filling the room, and a fierce pain running through her body, as if being punished, though she did not do anything...
THE END...
