Ghost Pokémon

CHAPTER ONE
Hello, I'm Melissa. I've had many wierd things happen in my life. I've gotten lost at sea and been saved by a Dragonite. Been on a plane, had the engines die on me, fell several feet, jumped out of the plane, and got saved
by a Houou. Nobody believes my stories. But out of all my adventures I would say that this would be my most amazing, and scariest of them all. I had met with a ghost Pokemon. No, it wasn't a Gastly, Haunter, or Gengar. It was a Pokemon trying to get a message through. Well anyway you can either listen, or not. I don't care. It all happened one day, or night rather, when I was going to spend the night in an old cabin in the woods. My car had died, and
well, I had no choice but to spend the night in an abandoned cabin. When I first entered the cabin all I saw was black. I lit my torch. The room was gloomy and full of cobwebs. "I've seen worse." I mumbled to myself. I got
out my radio and tried to call for help. It was useless. "Guess I'm spendin' the night here." I curled up on the floor and went to sleep. I woke up at 3:00 in the morning. I could hear, the faintest sound of leaves rustling
outside. "Probably just the wind." I said. The rustling sound grew louder and louder. Finally, I found the courage to get up and look out the window. "Hello!" I shouted. "Is anyone out there?" The rustling of the leaves just grew louder and louder. Trying to hold my fear, I went from the window to the door and slowly opened it. I was startled by the sound of my shoes stepping on a twig. The rustling sound was right by me. Suddenly, I heard a sound. It sounded like a dog, its mournful howl echoing through the night. The wind started to blow hard. I got a chill up my spind. For the first time in my life, I was really afraid.
"He-hello?" I said in a squeaky voice. The howl grew louder but it started to sound like it was angry. Like someone, or something, wanted me out of those woods. The wind died down, the rustling stopped, the howling stopped, and the night air recovered its peace. Slowly I crept back in the
cabin, closed the door behind me, and went to sleep.
CHAPTER TWO
The sweet morning air was crisp, and welcoming as I awoke and went outside. "What a night." I sighed. "Can't remember a thing." But then I did remember. I remembered the howling, the rustling, and the chill of the wind. I shivered and started to try to fix my car. But when I opened the hood the engine was fixed! It was as if I had never crashed in the first place. "I bet there are tons of Pokemon in this forest." I grinned. "Go Charmander!" I
shouted. "Char! Char!" "Come on Charmander," I started. "Let's go find us some worthy Pokemon. Oh, and, keep your tail off the ground this time." "Mander?" Charmander sqealed. I went for a long walk with my Charmander,
who was desperately trying to keep her tail off the ground. I remembered when Charmander accidently set fire to my house while walking with her tail on the ground. Suddenly, Charmander stopped. "What is it?" I asked. Charmander
signaled for me to be quiet. Then I heard it. A rustling sound. It was coming from behind a rock. "Okay," I said. "Here goes." I walked around the rock, looked, and to my relief, it was only a Growlithe! "Grooooowwwlithe!" It howled. It looked at me, then at Charmander. "I won't
hurt you." I said in a soothing voice. It just sat there looking puzzled for a moment. Then got up, trotted towards me, and started to rub against my leg. "Charmander return!" I shouted. I searched my pocket for a piece of meat. I handed it to the Growlithe. But for some reason the Growlithe just wouldn't eat. "Not hungry, huh?" I picked up the Growlithe and started to walk to the cabin. I got in my car and started to drive out of the woods. "Were you
the one making all that noise last night?" I asked. The Growlithe just stared. "Fine then. We're out of here."
CHAPTER THREE
I finally made it out of the woods and onto the highway. Just then, a Meowth ran across the road. I screeched the car to a stop. A car hit me from behind and I jerked forward. "Groooowwwwlithe!" The Growlithe howled.
Then, while I was trying to tell the driver behind me what had happened, the Growlithe jumped out of the car and started to chase the Meowth. Cars screeched everywhere as the Growlithe ran across the road chasing the Meowth. "Hey! Hey come back!" I shouted to the Growlithe. The driver I was
talking to started to laugh. "Hey!" I said angrily. "Oh well," I sighed. I got back in my car, and to my surprise, it started. "Yes!" I said as I continued on my way home. I couldn't stop wondering about that Growlithe though. Was it
a stray? Did it belong to someone? I put it aside and continued to focus on the road. When I finally got home, I was very happy. I set up the fire-proof box for my Charmander. "Now you stay in there alright?" I said as my
Charmander came out of the Pokeball. The Charmander ran straight into the box. I grinned. Then the telephone rang. I bent over to pick it up. "Hello?" I said. "Hi Melissa?" "Oh, hi Kimberly." "Listen, can you babysit Peter at our
house?" she asked. I sighed, then asked, "When?" "Tonight, I know it's on short notice but today is our anniversary and we want to be in the city." I thought about that cabin in the woods. Theirs was even scarier than the abandoned
one. "Okay." I answered. "Thanks! Love you lots!" "Yeah, love you lots too." I said as I hung up the phone. I looked over at my Charmander, who was already asleep on the fine glass. "Charmander!" I yelled, immediately waking her up. "We're going back in the woods." "Charmander?!" she screamed. "I'm sorry but you're coming with me." Charmander searched for Growlithe as an excuse for her not to go. "Growlithe's gone." I said solemnly. "Charmander?" she asked. "A Meowth went across the road. I stopped so I wouldn't hit it. Growlithe jumped out of the car and started to chase it." I answered. Charmander started to laugh. "Hey! Not you too!" I growled. "Well anyway, we
are going back into the woods and that's final!" Charmander gasped, then held onto my leg. I forced her apart, picked her up, and got into the car. We were on our way.
CHAPTER FOUR
Well, I was on my way back to the woods. "Talk about a bad day!" I thought. Charmander was sitting next to me, her eyes whirling with fear. "Oh! Don't be so scared!" I scowled. We made it to the woods. "There's a lot more Pokemon here than I remember." I said as an Ekans slithered
on the side of the road and a Mankey watched from a tree. "Wow, look at that! A Pidgeot! Am I dreaming or is that an Articuno?!" I never thought there would be so many Pokemon around there. Charmander stared at a group of Charmanders on the side of the road. One stared back. It was her dad.
That was the group of Charmanders that she used to live with. "You really miss them, huh?" Charmander nodded her head. "I miss my parents too." I remembered how my parents had died when lightning struck their house. They didn't
have time to get out. A tear ran down my cheek. Charmander wiped it off. I shook out of it. Sadness turned to anger. "Why did Kimberly get the house? She didn't even know my mom!" The car came to a halt. I got out and helped
Charmander get out. As I approached the house, I was filled with mixed feelings. I felt something crawl up my back. "Aaaaah!" I screamed. Kimberly and her husband stepped out, Kimberly holding the baby. She glanced at me, then started to laugh. Her husband walked up to me and grabbed something
from my back. "Oh." I sighed, looking embarrassed. It was just a Caterpie. "The emergency phone numbers are on the kitchen counter, and here are the baby's things." she said handing me a bag and the baby. "We'll be back tomorrow morning." Kimberly waved good-bye and with that they got in
their car and left. "That was a blast, hope I can remember it." I said. I put it in its crib and it immediately fell asleep. I sat down and read a book for the rest of the evening then fell asleep. I woke up hearing a scratching at the door. It grew louder and louder and soon turned into
pounding. Then I heard a low growl. "Hello?" I asked.
CHAPTER FIVE
I slowly walked over to the door. The growling had stopped. "I can't believe this is happening to me again." I thought to myself. "Wait!" I started. "Charmander!" After realizing what I had done I became silent. I was afraid the baby would wake up. I listened. Nothing. I let out a sigh of relief as Charmander came rushing into the room. "Char?" "Come get by my side." I told her. She obeyed. I slowly opened the door and to my amazement, it was a Growlithe! "I wonder if this is the Growlithe I lost." I asked Charmander. I took out a piece of meat and gave it to the Growlithe. The Growlithe didn't even notice it. The Growlithe trotted up to me and rubbed my leg. I patted its head. "Charrr." Charmander growled, becoming jealous. I laughed. "It's okay Charmander. You'll still be my favorite Pokemon." The Growlithe stopped rubbing my leg and raced upstairs. "Hey, what?!" I followed the Growlithe upstairs. When I was almost to the baby's room, the Growlithe came racing back downstairs with the baby's blanket. "Hey!" I scowled. I heard the baby start to cry. "Now, look what you've done." I went the rest of the way up the stairs and
picked up the baby, rocking it gently. It stopped crying. I put it back in its crib, grabbed the blanket from Growlithe (who made quite a fight of giving it up) and set it down on the baby. No sooner had I left the room, the baby started crying again. I looked and saw the Growlithe with the baby's blanket in its mouth. "Not again!" It was then I noticed the collar on the Growlithe. "I didn't see that before." I said. I looked closer. Printed on the collar was Tiger. "Well Tiger," I started, "you leave the baby's blanket where it is, do you hear me?" Tiger started whining
and his head was pointed to the stairs. Something in the Growlithe's eyes made me think he was trying to tell me something. But what? This was crazy! Just then, I heard thunder, then saw lightning. "Great! Now we've got a storm!" Tiger was still looking at the stairs whining. "What are you trying to say Tiger? Do you think Peter wants to-" Just then I saw a flash of lightning that lit the entire house. "Okay, if you want to go downstairs, that's what we'll do." Tiger ran ahead with Peter's blanket inside his mouth as I carried Peter down the stairs. As soon as we reached the living room Tiger started barking at the door. "What is it Tiger? Do you want out now?" Tiger just barked louder, with a real urgency. Then he began to howl and jump
around, his claws making a strange tapping sound on the hardwood floor. Still holding Peter, I opened the door for Tiger. Just as I did, a brilliant flash lit the area, followed by a crack of thunder. And then, I smelled a peculiar smell, like toast burning, only, only...suddenly I knew what had happened. Lightning had struck the house! I had to get out before the house burned down on us. I didn't stop for raincoats or umbrellas, I just bounded outside, behind Tiger. With Peter clutched to my chest, I ran down the driveway for what seemed to be an eternity. Behind me I smelled smoke, and when I turned around to look, I saw the entire house in flames.
CHAPTER SIX
I just stood there watching the house. It wasn't long before the fire department drove up to the house and started to get busy. Officer Jenny ran up to me. "Are you okay?" she asked. "I-I-I think so." I stammered. "Are you sure? That must have been qute a shock." "I'm okay, really." "Alright. Hey you there! Hurry up and get that other hose out!" I watched as Officer Jenny started giving orders. I saw a car drive up. I didn't notice that it was Kimberly's. "Melissa! Are you alright! I've been so worried about you!"
Kimberly yelled. "Can you get out of the car?!" I shouted. "What? Oh, yeah, sure, I'll come out." When she came out of the car we started to have a
conversation. "How did you get out of the house?" Kimberly asked me. "A very strange Growlithe. Did that Growlithe belong to you? A Pokemon like that is worth some money, you know." Kimberly stared at me. "Melissa, we used to have a Growlithe." "What happened to it?" "We gave it to your mother and father as a gift. What we found out happened was, when the house burned down, the Growlithe was trapped in the cellar.
Even though it is a Fire Pokemon, it can't take that much fire." "And what was the Growlithe's name?" "Tiger." "Tiger's alive! He helped me get out of
the house!" "Melissa, Tiger is dead. We buried him on the side of the house." I ran to where she pointed and there, by the side of the house, was a grave. But that was not the part that scared me. On top of the grave, was Peter's blanket. I heard a low growl. "T-Tiger?"
So that's my story. Sure, it may seem like not much of a message to you. Of course then, it would if you had been in my place. That Growlithe saved my life. It also scared me out of my wits. But I thank it.
