Digimon and Pokémon: Worlds Collide

By: Josh Hancock E-Mail: redmon@thevortex.com
CHAPTER ONE
Sora, Matt, Mimi, Joe, Tai, T.K. and Izzy along with their now-undigevolved Digimon met outside Gennai's house. Like the last time they were there, the stairs leading to it were surrounded by water. The house, which was one-level and spread out far and wide, was still surrounded by a pinkish fog. "Man, it's great to be back!" Tai said enthusiastically. "You said it." Joe agreed "It's nice to have someplace to go in the Digital World where there aren't evil Digimon trying to kill you." The others agreed and they entered the house. "Welcome children. I've been expecting this day for quite some time." Gennai said as he stepped into their sight. Koromon lept up onto the table and started throwing small snack cakes into his mouth using his giant rabbit-like ears. The others soon followed suit. "And what day would that be, Gennai?" Izzy inquired. "Why, the day some of you can finally go home, of course!" The others had a very startled look on their faces. Even the Digimon stopped eating out of surprise. "I assure you, in time, you will all return home." he said reassuringly, as if he had read their minds of the concern. "Huh?" Tai said, unbelieving the revelation. "What about the unbalance?" he asked. "The disturbance between our worlds has been fixed. You did your job. But I need four volunteers." he said, keeping mysterious on purpose. "Volunteers? For what purpose exactly?" Izzy just had to know. His curiousity would've killed him if he hadn't asked. "It appears some Evil Digimon were able to cross over to another dimension." Gennai explained. He sighed before he continued. "Some of which you've already fought." "What?" They all cried in disbelief. "Devimon and Etemon just to name a few. I need four volunteers to go to this other dimension and find a boy by the name of Ash." he explained. "Once you do, I want the four volunteers to join his team of Pokemon trainers." "Pokemon? Hmm... interesting. Are they anything at all like the Digimon? A distant cousin perhaps." Izzy offered. "I'm afraid that's for me to know and you to find out on your own." Gennai said with a half chuckle. "Pokemon are pets on the world some of you will be going to. The fight solely for sport and wish no real harm to anyone. At least, they used to." "Devimon's Black Gears probably changed that." Matt fumed. Devimon had done almost everything in his power to destroy his little brother T.K., which only worsened him in Matt's eyes. "I see the time here has been well-spent." Gennai said, pleased with the observation. "You're correct Matt, Devimon has corrupted a lot of Pokemon with his Black Gears. Which means T.K. and Tokomon will have to go." Matt immidiately looked at his ten-year-old brother and then back at Gennai. "I'd like to go to this world!" Matt said boldly. "I don't want to go home and relax while my little brother goes off and battles Devimon alone!" "YAY! Tai, will you come too?" T.K. asked hopefully. Tai, both glad T.K. asked and sorry he did, kneeled down beside him. "T.K., you know I'd love to come along. I mean, a new world to explore. New challenges to overcome, I'd be crazy not to want to. But...I have to get home. My little sister Kari is waiting and she's probably worried sick. Not to mention my parents." Tai waited for T.K. to storm off in anger, but he didn't. Instead T.K. smiled. "That's okay Tai, I understand. You miss them." T.K. said. "I'll go too!" Sora said. "Someone's got to keep Matt out of trouble." She had said it jokingly, and everyone but Matt laughed. When they had gotten there, Matt was a bit of a spitfire. But he had calmed down, somewhat at least. "I'd be crazy not to come on this sojourn. There's so much I could learn about these Pokemon creatures. Plus, I'm curious as to the cultural differences." Izzy explained. "Oh, silly me!" Gennai said. "I almost forgot. Pokemon aren't like Digimon. If they attack you, whatever you do, don't digivolve! They don't want to kill you. Besides, I don't want you to meet Ash and get off on the wrong foot by killing one of his Pokemon." "Thanks for the tip." Matt said honestly. Three hours later, Tai, Mimi, and Joe had taken their Digimon home to Tokyo, Japan through Gennai's Portal. Not long after that, Izzy, Sora, Matt, and T.K. had their Digimon through the portal.
* * *
It was nighttime when the four Digi-destined walked through to the other side of the portal. They hadn't walked half an hour when they smelled something. Something warm...familiar...and good! They recognized it as food and dashed closer to where the smell came from. They saw three bedrolls, each of which was occupied by a human. However, the travel through the portal had made them unusually hungry and they passed over the bedrolls quietly without waking anyone up. Motimon looked behind him and spotted what looked like, to him anyway, a yellow mouse the size of a hampster with a zigzagging tail. However, his interest in the sleeping creature was shortlived as he turned back to the others. What they had smelled was the trio's supper\breakfast. Fortunately, it was still warm enough to eat, which they did. Quite noisily too. So noisily, in fact, that the aforementioned sleeping yellow hampster, stirred. "Pika....?" Pikachu asked as the noise caused him to wake up. "Pika!" he said as he saw the sight. Thieves were devouring what his best friends Misty, Ash, and Brock were going to have for breakfast. Something had to be done. "PIKA...CHU!" he said as he jumped into the air and crouched up into a little yellow ball. His body sparked with electricity and sent a powerful bolt of lightning to the thieves. It hit one of the tinier ones, which caused a dark-haired kid to rush over to him. "MOTIMON! Are you alright?" Izzy asked as he rushed over to his Digimon friend. Motimon looked at Pikachu and groaned. "NOBODY DOES THAT TO MY FRIEND!" Izzy shouted with unexpected fury. "Motimon, digivolve!" As soon as he said this, Motimon transformed from a creature that resembled a Pac-Man ghost with arms into a larger beetle-like Digimon with spikes on his wings. "Motimon digivolve to...TENTEMON!" Tentemon said as he got the power upgrade. "Pika?" Pikachu asked out of curiousity. "Pika...chu?" He walked closer and looked Tentemon up and down. He then did this to the other Digimon. After he looked them up and down he said, "Pika! Pika pika pika Pikachu!" "Huh?" Matt asked, not understanding a word Pikachu just said. "Allow me to translate." Tentemon said. "He said 'Hello! My name is Pikachu.'" "Prodigious!" Izzy exclaimed happily. "Tentemon has a built-in Pokemon translator!" He then turned to Pikachu. "I'm Izzy, and that's Matt, Sora and T.K." "How's it going?" Matt asked. "Hi." Sora said. "Pleased to meet you!" T.K. practically squealed with that childish delight of his. "Thank you for not hurting Tentemon, Pikachu." "Pika? Pika pika?" Pikachu asked. "That would be me." Tentemon responded and flew over to Pikachu. "Over there is Tsunomon, Yokomon, and Tokomon. They're Digimon, like me." "Pika?" he asked, still confused. "Oh, never mind. It's complicated." "Pika pika pika pika." Pikachu said defeatedly. "Perhaps you could assist us, Pikachu." Izzy offered. Pikachu seemed to brighten up with enthusiasm at the mention of his name. "We're looking for a Pokemon trainer named Ash." Without giving him more time to explain the dilema, Pikachu jumped and sprinted over to one of the bedrolls. "PIKACHU!" he said as he started jumping up and down on a fourteen-year-old boy. The boy, Ash the Digi-Destined, quickly surmised, woke up immediately. "Huh? Pikachu what is...uh...hi." Ash said as he eyed the strangers standing before him. He then looked at Tentemon. "Hmm, I don't think I've ever seen a Pokemon like you before." "That's because I'm a Digimon. That's short for Digital Monster." At the mention of the word 'monster', Pikachu scrambled up Ash's body and hid under his hat. "Don't be afraid Pikachu, we're here to help." "Help? With what?" "It's a long story." Izzy informed him. "However, we are willing to tell you if you'd be so kind to wake up your friends so that they may hear it to." Ash fulfilled the simple request and woke Misty and Brock up. Izzy then went on to explain in detail what he knew to be the problem. "And you expect us to believe that?" Ash asked in disbelief. "I mean, come on, a 'shadow world?'" Tentemon flew over and hovered in front of Ash's face and asked "Ash, if we're lying, how do you explain our appearance?" "Simple, they're humans and you're...Pokemon who are suffering from an identity crisis." Ash rationalized. Misty walked over to Yokomon and looked her over. She then went over to the other undigivolved Digimon, inspecting them in them in the same manner. She finished her inspection with Tentemon. "Ash, these aren't Pokemon." she announced. This time, however, Ash took it more seriously. "Oh, that's what I've been telling him. But does he listen to me? No!" Tentemon complained. "Wow! Hey, I wonder if they eat the same foods that Pikachu does." Ash pondered. "PIKA! Pika pika pika pikachu pika pika!" Pikachu exclaimed. "I resent that! We're not gluttons! It's just that we don't get a lot of opportunities to eat, so we have to scavange for food." Tentemon explained. "So...this Gennai...said we have to work together?" Ash asked to reconfirm the statement. "Precisely." Izzy told him. "Well, the first thing you're going to need are Pokemon if you want to fight here." Brock said. "HEY!" Tsunomon said, insulted. "What are we? Chopped liver?" "You misunderstood what I was getting at. We're not fighters, we're Pokemon trainers. We don't use fists to solve our problems. We use something called our brains." Ash said. "Did he just insult us, Sora?" Yokomon asked her owner. "Of course not, Yokomon, he probably just thinks we're scavengers out to take his Pokemon." the tomboy Sora responded. "A very likely deduction, Sora." Izzy complimented. "However, we are not thieves." The next morning found everyone on better terms. Matt had wandered away from the campsite and was playing a mournful tune on his harmonica. He sat on a cliff overlooking the ocean with his loyal friend Tsunomon beside him. "It's lovely." Sora complimented as she walked over to him with Yokomon beside her. "Oh...thanks." Matt said, trying to keep his rebellious charade up. "Thinking about home?" Sora asked as she sat down beside him and put a hand on his back. "Yeah, plus I'm worried about T.K." he confessed. "All these adventures we go on, time after time, monster after monster, I'm just scared something bad's going to happen to him." "That's understandable, I have a cousin T.K.'s age and I worry about her sometimes too. And she doesn't even go on adventures." Sora confessed and smiled at Matt. She contimplated kissing him when Ash walked over to them. "Hey, we're going to go see Professor Oak." he announced. "Huh? Who's he?" Sora asked, a little surprised at the kid's tone of authority. She was easily two or three years older than he was, and he almost gave her an order. She was surprised Matt didn't go ballistic immediatly. "He's a Pokemon researcher who gives Pokemon to new trainers." he explained. "We don't need Pokemon...and we're not trainers." Matt announced. "Take it easy, Matt!" Ash said defensively. "I'm just saying that you should get some Pokeballs for your Digimon." "Pokeballs?" Sora and Matt both asked at the same time. Ash showed them one. It was a little smaller than a baseball, but not much. It was red on the top and white on the bottom, and it obviously opened up where the red and the white met. To their surprise, his Pokeball grew larger when he pressed a button on the front of it. "You put the Pokemon you capture into these and train them." he explained. "I'm going to be the greatest Pokemon trainer in the world!" "FOR THE LAST TIME, WE'RE NOT TRAINERS!" Matt exploded at Ash. But Ash's persistance for them to get Pokemon wasn't the reason he yelled, and Sora could tell by the expression on Matt's face. "Woah, you remind me of an unstable landmine." Ash said. "Ready to go off at a moment's notice with no regard for the people around you." That's when it happened. Matt punched Ash right in the jaw and the two got into a free-for-all. "Not again." Yokomon complained as they watched the fight. "At least he lasted this long." Sora said with a sigh. The two began rolling around on the ground. Ash didn't know why Matt had attacked him. The only reason he was fighting was to defend himself from getting pummelled into toothpaste, which Matt seemed determined on doing. However, their fight was cut short when a boulder landed a few feet away from them. "What was that?" Ash asked. The boulder had hit the ground with the speed of a comet and had made a crater. "It came from up there." Matt offered as he pointed up to the hills and saw an unusual sight. He couldn't see the figure's true size from where it stood, but Matt knew he had seen two sets of arms. The creature began running towards them, all of its hands balled up into fists and flying furiously. "It's a Machamp!" Ash cried the second the thought registered. He pushed Matt aside so that he could protect him. Unfortunately, this led to him getting a powerful uppercut from Machamp, which sent him right into Sora, who was knocked down from the force. "Are you alright?" Sora asked. Ash nodded in agreement. Then, the plantlike Yokomon transformed into the bigger pink-feathered bird Biyomon. "Yokomon Digevolve to...Biyomon." With the transformation complete, she took flight and launched her attack. "Spiral Twister!" she said as a green energy blast twisted its way out of her beak and hit the Machamp's chest. Unfortunately, this didn't even phase it. "Black...Gear..." Ash said as he faded out of consciousness. Sora looked at the back of the Machamp. Sure enough, down the length of its back was a Black Gear, imbedded so that only half of it could be seen. "Tsunomon Digevolve to...Gabumon." With that, the small brown creature turned into what looked like a Saint Bernard with a horn growing out of its forehead. "Blue Blaster!" Gabumon said and fired a blue stream of energy at the Machamp's back. However, the skin was too thick for this attack to work. This only succeeded in making Machamp angrier. He kicked Gabumon backwards. "GABUMON!" Matt cried as his Digimon friend hit the ground hard. Then the combination of the danger posed by the Black Gear Machamp and the power of Matt's friendship caused Gabumon to Digevolve again. "Gabumon Digevolve to...Garurumon." This time, the Saint Bernard with a horn turned into a regular-sized wolf with blue and white tiger stripes. His fur coat was like a coat of armor. He let out a roar and charged towards Machamp and bit one of his arms, only to get thrown off mercilessly. However, unlike before when he was Gabumon, Garurumon instantly got back on his feet. He started charging towards the Machamp at full speed and then he jumped and said "HOWLING BLASTER!" He shot out a very powerful burst of blue energy that hit the Machamp right in the chest. The Black Gear went flying out of the Pokemon's back and dissolved into nothingness like all the times before. Garurumon turned back into Gabumon. The Machamp laid on the ground lifelessly. A white light encased its entire body and he de-evolved all the way back to a Machop. "What the...?" Ash asked as he regained consciousness. "Machamps are the Fighting-type of Pokemon," he explained, "but they never attack people." "They do when they have Black Gears in them." Sora informed the Pokemon trainer. She went on to explain how the vile Devimon used Black Gears to turn good Digimon into bad Digimon. She then informed him of how they thought that Devimon had created the Black Gears, but found several more Digimon under its influence after his defeat at the hands of Angemon, the fully-evolved form of Tokomon. "Wow, you've been busy." Ash said in amazement. "You don't know the half of it." Gabumon commented. "So...where is this Professor Oak guy?" Matt asked. "He lives in Pallet Town, my hometown." Ash explained as Sora helped him up. Misty walked over with Pikachu beside her and tried her hardest not to look jealous. "ASH! Oh, are you okay?" she asked as she rushed over to him. "I'm fine." Ash said as he held his head. "That punch was nothing compared to that flock of Spearow that attacked me and Pikachu." "Pika." said Pikachu in agreement. "Well, come on then, what are we waiting for?" said Matt with an enthusiastic cheer. "Let's go!" "Hey, since when did you get Tai's eagerness?" Sora asked jokingly. "Look, if we just sit around and wait longer, chances are we'll get attacked again." Matt reasoned. "A logical deduction Matt, I agree. Our chances of avoiding confrontations will increase if we leave this place, which is obviously under the control of an Evil Digimon. Plus, I'm curious to see more of this world." Izzy commented.
* * *
"Lord Etemon! Lord Etemon!" said a Digimon that looked like a kid-sized grey rabbit who stood on its hind legs and had arms instead of front legs. This was a Gazimon, well-known for treachery and deception. They're also famous for doing the dirty work for their master, Etemon. Gazimon entered a room in the castle-like building he was in. In the room was a seven-foot-tall orange-furred muscle-bound ape Digimon with a teddy bear attached to his left hip. "What is it, you little grease monkey?" he asked, his voice still sounding like a bad Elvis impersonation. "Can't you see I'm rehearsing for a show that I've gonna put on for Pallet Town?" "Forgive me, Lord Etemon," the Gazimon shook with fear as he spoke. "But...well, it's the...Digi-destined." he said rather hesitantly. "OOH! Those blasted kids seem to follow me everywhere! The least they could do is ask for an autograph! Uh-ha-ha. Where are they now?" Etemon demanded. "They're heading for Pallet Town, and they seem to have befriended some Pokemon trainers." "OOOH! Listen here, long-ears, I want you to make sure that those Digi-brats don't get anywhere near that town! Do you understand?" "Yes Lord Etemon." The Gazimon groveled. "Who should I send out?" "Hmm...now let me think. Which of my roadies have they not beaten yet? Hmm...I've got it! Send out Tigramon. Ha ha ha, that oughta teach them not to mess with the great Etemon." "Wait, there's some good news too, Lord Etemon." The Gazimon said as he remembered. "Ooh, why didn't you tell me sooner, you overgrown carrot-eating varmit?" "Sorry, great one. It appears that the kid who defeated you originally isn't travelling with them." "So they're not at full strength? Why, that's great! Now I can destroy those brats and become this world's greatest rock sensation!" <
CHAPTER TWO
The seven kids walked on the road that led to Pallet Town. It was a long ways off, but they were on the right road. At least, that's what Ash had been telling them. "Hey Matt," Sora said as she stepped up closer to the blonde-haired would-be-rebel, "isn't it nicer travelling without Mimi and Joe? Without their constant nagging about how they wish they were home?" "Yeah, I guess." he said, a little unsure as to why Sora had become so nice to him. Now it was Izzy's turn to step closer to Misty. "Misty, I've got a hypothesis about Pokemon and Digimon, and I would like your input seeing as how you run a Pokemon Center." Misty saw how Sora was almost all over Matt and sighed with relief. "Sure Izzy, what is it?" she asked, only paying him half the attention he had coming. "Well, we know that the Digital World is a shadow world of the world where me and my friends came from orginally. I think that, just maybe, the Digital World is also a shadow world for this one. The Digimon, in effect, would be the Shadow versions of the Pokemon." "Uhh...can you repeat that in English? What exactly is a shadow world?" asked Brock. "That's a simple one, Brock." Izzy stated. Pikachu could swear that he saw Tentemon roll his eyes. "A shadow world is like a parrallel universe, but anything you do in the shadow world would have an effect on the world that it shadows." "So if that's the case..." Ash began. "There's more than one world in danger from these Evil Digimon." Brock finished. "Correct, I told you it was a simple concept." "Yeah, maybe if you're the kind of kid who takes his laptop to soccer camp." Matt said under his breath so Izzy wouldn't hear him. Tokomon walked alongside T.K. as usual and then looked up at him. "T.K.," the young Digimon began, "you wouldn't leave me for my Pokemon counterpart, would you?" "Of course not, Tokomon." The ten-year-old reassured. "We're best friends, but that doesn't mean I can't be a Pokemon's friend too." "Good. I'm glad." The pig-like Digimon continued to walk along. All of a sudden Izzy stopped, sat down and took out his laptop as if he just had to check his e-mail or something. "What's wrong, Izzy?" Matt asked, concerned. "Yeah, why'd you stop now?" Sora asked next. "Hmm? Oh, nothing. T.K. just reminded me of a new program I was going to install into my computer." "Gee, thanks T.K." Tentemon replied honestly. "Uh...what exactly is this new program Izzy?" "It will allow me to see if this world is shadowed by the Digital World." Izzy explained. "Ash, I don't suppose you have a map of your world, do you?" "Of course I do, why?" Ash responded. "I want to scan it into my computer to use a point of reference." Izzy explained. "Don't worry Ash, he's always like that." Matt said, reading the slightly intimidated look on his face. Ash handed the map to Izzy, which he promptly scanned into his laptop and hit several keys very fast and smiled widely. "PRODIGIOUS!" Izzy exclaimed. "My theory was right, the Digital World does shadow this world." "So...the problem that we had with the Digital World and ours..." Matt began. "Is the same one here?" Sora finished the question. "Yes, and because of the Pokemon counterparts, worse." Everyone, except for Izzy of course, gasped in surprise. Meanwhile, overhead, Tigramon watched them with an evil glare. He looked like a humanoid Siberian tiger in black leather pants with the knees torn out and a thick sword in a scabbard was attached to the belt. "The Digi-Destined, huh? Well, soon you'll be the Digi-Desserts! THUNDERBOLT STRIKE!" he said, ramming his sword into the rocks underneath him. A red light formed at the sword's hilt and ran down into the mountainside he stood on. Soon, the rocks were glowing red. He jumped backwards off the part of the mountain he stood on. As soon as he touched the ground, the rocks turned back to normal and exploded in an avalanche. "Huh? Do you hear that?" Gabumon asked. He looked up in time to see the tumbling rocks coming down. "AVALANCHE! MOVE IT!" he ordered. The group needed no further incentive. They all rushed forward. However, Ash was bringing up the rear and tripped on a stone in the road and a rock landed on his foot. "SPIRAL TWISTER!" Biyomon yelled, as she shot her blast at the rock that had landed on Ash's foot. It exploded into a pile of fine dust. Misty rushed over to Ash, even though she had to push Sora out of the way to do it. "Ash! Are you alright?" She crouched down beside him and helped him up. "Yeah, I'm fine." he said, looking at his slightly bruised ankle. "Just a little scratched up." Misty smiled and they continued on their way. "Those kids are faster than I thought. But that avalanche should've slowed them down at least a little. Perhaps I need to take a more...direct route." He said as he jumped down in front of the kids, Pokemon, and Digimon. "OH NO!" Tentemon cried worriedly. "It's Tigramon, one of the most vile Evil Digimon there is. You really don't want to get on his bad side!" "So you've heard of me, Tentemon?" Tigramon asked with an evil grin. "Leave this guy to me." Ash said as he took out two Pokeballs. He pressed the buttons and the balls sprang open, releasing Bulbasaur and Charizard. "GET HIM!" Ash ordered. Bulbasaur shot five leaves at Tigramon and Charizard spat out a stream of fire at him. He jumped and avoided both attacks. "Ha ha ha!" Tigramon laughed as he flew high in the air. He pointed his sword at them and said "THUNDERBOLT STRIKE!" Another red energy blast fired at the kids. They ran backwards and up onto the pile of rubble from the avalanche, avoiding the attack which created a huge gapping crater where it hit. "PIKA...CHU!" Pikachu curled up into a ball and launched an electric attack. "Now why didn't I think of that? SUPER SHOCKER!" Tentemon shouted, releasing a powerful lightning blot at Tigramon. Both attacks hit Tigramon, sending him to the ground. Tigramon chose this moment to retreat, but got stopped by Bulbasaur's Vine Whip attack wrapping around his ankles. He hit the ground with a powerful thud. "SPIRAL TWISTER!" Biyomon spat out her attack, hitting Tigramon in the back. Tigramon pulled his legs apart, tearing off the vines. Bulbasausr fell backwards. "Bulba!" he cried. "Biyomon digevolve to...BIRDRAMON!" The little pink-feathered Digimon turned into a great big phoenix made out of orange flames. She flew high into the sky and folded in her wings to start her attack. "METEOR WING!" She spread her wings out wide and launched two large fireballs. They hit Tigramon and sent him flying backwards, landing on his back. "Is that all you got, you one-trick blunder? I'll show you real power, DARK NETWORK CRUSHER!" he exclaimed and thrust his sword into the ground. Two black cables came flying out of the ground and wrapped around Birdramon. The cables electrocuted her and de-digevolved her back to Biyomon. "Tentemon digevolve to...KABUTERIMON!" The small beetle Digimon turned into a humanoid purple house fly with a helmet-covered head. "ELECTROSHOCKER!" He crouched up into a ball, let an energy orb build up and he fired it at Tigramon. This was almost enough to destroy him, but not quite. Izzy backed up and stood beside Ash. Ash was holding Pikachu's Pokeball and Izzy was holding his Digivice. When the two came in close enough contact, something very interesting happened. "Kabuterimon and..." Kabuterimon began. "Pikachu..." Pikachu continued. "Digibond and become...KABUCHU!" The small yellow mouse began to grow until he was the size of Kabuterimon. The Digimon's body became transparent as the Pokemon slid into it easily. When Kabuterimon's body became solid again, he had yellow stripes on his back and an enlarged Pikachu head. Tigramon knew he was in trouble now. He stood up and began to run away as Kabuchu took chase. "Get away from me, you vermin-mon!" Tigramon shouted as he fired a Thunderbolt Strike at Kabuchu. It hit its chest and had no visable effect. "Uh oh." "KABU...CHU!" Kabuchu cried out as its body turned a brilliant shade of white. The white light then fired at Tigramon. When it hit him, Tigramon dissolved into nothingness. Kabuchu landed and began to glow again. But this time, it shrank and took divided into two parts. The white lights took the forms of Pikachu and Tentemon. Soon the lights faded and Pikachu and Tentemon could be seen again. "Pikachu! Are you alright?" Ash asked as he ran over to his friend. "PIKA!" he exclaimed happily after Ash picked him up. But then he saw Biyomon and Sora bent over her. "Biyomon?" Sora asked uncertainly. "She won't wake up!" Pikachu hopped out of Ash's arms and scurried over to Biyomon and put his front paws on her body. "Pika...chu!" he said, using his body to send an electric jolt through her body. She shook as Pikachu did this and slowly woke up. "PIKA!" Pikachu said happily and kissed Biyomon.

"OOH! Those darn kids got away from Tigramon and will reach Pallet Town before I do! Don't they know it's rude to keep a superstar from his adoring fans? Launch the Dark Network!" "Yes, Lord Etemon." said the Gazimon as he hit three buttons and pulled on a small lever. Two long black cables shot out of both ends of the trailer and sank into the dirt-covered ground. The trailer, which was still being pulled by two Monochromons, moved forward to Pallet Town. They'd be there soon enough, but not before the kids were there.
CHAPTER THREE
Joe, Mimi, and Tai all gathered at the park that Saturday morning. They didn't have to say what decision they had all reached, but did anyway. "I can't stand this anymore!" Tai exclaimed. "I never thought I'd say this," Joe added, "but I miss the constant dangers. I guess it made me feel brave and important." If Matt were here, he would've cheered him on. "I just don't enjoy getting facials and manicures anymore. I just keep thinking about our friends in danger, and I have nightmares." said Mimi. "I should be there with them! If Etemon's there, they'll need Metalgraymon to beat him." Tai finished. They nodded in agreement. "It's just too bad that we can't e-mail Gennai and volunteer to go there." Mimi sighed defeatedly. "Who says we can't?" Tai said as soon as it dawned on him. "Izzy said that the Digital World was a shadow world to this one, right?" The others nodded, not seeing where he was going with this. "Well, if you ask me, all we have to do is reconfigure a computer to send a coded signal through the Internet and it'll show up on Izzy's computer." "And you think Izzy could just send it to Gennai for us?" "Sure, why not?" "Because he's not in the Digital World, Tai." They all sighed and then Joe thought of something "I once posted something on this website I was building, but it vanished." "What was it about, Joe?" Mimi asked. "Oh, it was silly, really. Just about a strange man who lived in a house in the middle of a lake and the house was surrounded by pink fog." Fortunately, Tai saw more relevanence than Joe did. "Joe, follow me!" With that, Tai jumped up, grabbed his friend by the wrist and led him back to his apartment. Meanwhile, as the rest of the Digi-destined, Ash, and his friends and Pokemon entered Pallet Town everyone looked at T.K. expectantly and smiled as if it was his lucky day. "Uhh...Ash..." T.K. asked innocently, "how come these people keep smiling at me?" "Well, that depends." Ash responded. "How old are you?" "Ten, but I turn eleven in the fall." T.K. answered. "Ten?" Misty asked. "You're old enough to start..." she began, looked at Matt and didn't finish the thought. "Old enough to start what, Misty?" T.K. inquired. Misty bit her bottom lip, decided to challenge Matt's fury and responded, "Old enough to start training Pokemon." "WOW!" T.K. and Tokomon responded simutaneously. Matt looked at T.K., smiled, and then he looked up at Misty and gave a nod of permission. Misty didn't quite understand his change of heart, but decided it best to let sleeping dogs lay. "Hey Ash, what kinda Pokemon should I get?" "Pikachu." Pikachu suggested. Ash chuckled and patted Pikachu on the head. "Ahh...those are pretty rare. If I were you, I'd start off with something fairly common. Say a Charmander for example." "I'd suggest a Bulbasaur, but I'm afraid he might get his confused with Ash's." Sora joked. They all laughed. From overhead Team Rocket watched with disgust. "We'll never get that Pikachu now." James complained. "Ooh, that blonde's kinda cute." Jessie said, her eyes practically glued to Matt. "JESSIE! Can you focus on the problem at hand here? We've got to get that Pikachu!" James screamed, a little jealous. She rarely paid him that kind of attention. "Sorry. Hmm...they're heading for Professor Oak's lab. That kid in the green hat must be ten." "Great, we've got a Pikachu ready to be nabbed, and seven kids gaurding it." James sighed defeatedly. "Forget it! I know when I'm beat!" James started to walk away. "We saw what that horned Saint Bernard did to that Machamp. No way I'm going anywhere near those kids. There has to be safer ways of getting a Pikachu." "Oh, really?" Jessie asked, unconvinced. "Like what?" "Well...we could break into the Professor's lab tonight, get a few Pikachu hairs from the cage he was in, and then have it cloned from that!" James offered. "Well...it's better than some of the other plans you've come up with." Jessie shot back. The kids entered Professor Oak's lab without noticing the little sideshow that Team Rocket just put on. "Hello Ash, to what do I owe this pleasure?" the old professor asked. "These are some friends of mine that come from another world." he explained. "And this is T.K. He's old enough to start training." T.K. smiled at the professor. "He's small for his age." Matt said, putting his powerful hands on his half-brother's shoulders. "So, what do you got?" "Well, I've got a Charmander that would be just right for your friend here." The professor offered. T.K. was like a kid in a candy store. Of course, the Pokemon he got had to pass Tokomon's inspection. He didn't want his two friends fighting all the time. It took them five minutes to find a Charmander. "My name's Tokomon, what's yours?" "Charm." said the Charmander. "Charm? What kind of name is that?" "Charm charm." the Charmander replied. "Tokomon, he's saying that he wants to be chosen." Tentemon explained. "Oh..." T.K. said in awe. "I forgot that you spoke Pokemon, Tentemon." he confessed. Then he looked at the professor and said, "I'd like to have this Charmander, if that's alright." "Of course it is T.K., of course it's alright." The professor unlocked the Charmander's cage and it jumped onto the ground. "Charm." said the Charmander as it dashed away. "HEY! He ran away." T.K. said, disappointed. "I see you chose the wild one. He hates Pokeballs, but I can't seem to figure out why." Professor Oak explained. "Don't worry, T.K., I'll get him for you." Tokomon offered and took chase. The two small and cute monsters chased each other all over the lab. It ends when Ash puts his hands down and catches the little Charmander and hands him to T.K. "Thanks Ash." T.K. said gratefully. Tokomon looked up at them. "Okay Charmander, no more running away!" "Charm!" it said and jumped out of T.K.'s arms, and accidently opened a door to a Flareon's cage. The Flareon, who was asleep, woke up and began to try to move so it could attack Charmander. "Tokomon, you've got to do something to help my Pokemon." said T.K. Tokomon nodded in agreement. "Tokomon Digevolve to...PATOMON!" The small white pig-like Digimon turned into a slightly larger hampster-like Digimon with ears that resembled bat wings. He inhaled and blew himself up like a ballon to do his attack. "BOOM BUBBLE...POW!" He spat out a large puff of air that hit the Flareon, knocking it out. "Charm!" said the Charmander. "You're welcome." Patomon said happily. "Hmm...first Tentemon learns how Pikachu talks, and now Patomon knows how Charmander talks...interesting." Izzy took the mental notes aloud. "What's that supposed to mean Izzy?" Matt asked. "I think that, everytime a Digimon Digevolves, their brain power increases a little more, allowing them to learn new things they couldn't before." Izzy concluded. "Of course, this is still just a theory and could very well be disproven." "I hope that theory's right Izzy, imagine what Gabumon will be able to learn in a few years." Matt said. "I think I'll stay as smart as I am, thank you." Gabumon responded jokingly.

"Alright Tai, calm down. Now what is it that you want me to do?" Joe asked. "I want you to put on your website, 'And as if by magic, Tai's computer and Izzy's laptop were connected and a clear and strong signal could get through.'" Tai answered. He watched as his friend typed, as he spoke word for word. Then Joe hit the preview button and watched as the words faded.

Suddenly, Izzy's laptop began beeping loudly, making some of the Pokemon go wild. He opened it up and saw Tai and Joe. "Tai, Joe, what's wrong? Why...more importantly, how, are you contacting me?" Izzy inquired. "Joe has a website that must have some kind of connection to the Digital World." Tai explained. "Whatever he puts on it ends up occuring in the Digital World. I'm guessing that..." "When I first connected to a computer in the Digital World, my laptop became a part of it? Brilliant deduction Tai, I only wish you had discovered Joe's ability sooner." "So do I. He and Mimi actually miss our adventures." Tai had to laugh when he said this. "I'll believe that when I..." Izzy got cut off by a voice hollering "NOVA BLAST!" and a large fireball hit the lab, blurring the signal for a minute, but it cleared right back up. "Izzy! What happened?" Tai demanded. "We're under attack by a Greymon." "What? I'll get there as soon as I can." "You do that, we'll try to hold it off." With that, Izzy closed his laptop and looked around. "Oh great, where's a good Greymon when you need one?" Meanwhile, from his trailer, Etemon watched with delight. "BWA HA HA HA! This is more entertaining than that time me and Concertomon held a Battle of the Bands! Uh-uh-uh." he said, gleefully pounding on a poor Gazimon's head. It was screaming protests, but Etemon was too happy and too loud to hear them. There was a large yellow T-Rex with black stripes on its back, and the top part of a T-Rex skull sat atop its head, giving the top of the tip of its nose a powerful horn. There was no Black Gear anywhere on him, or a piece of the Dark Network controlling him. This was just a very mean Greymon. It spat another Nova Blast and it rocked the lab. "Hmm...this professor's got better architechts than I thought. Oh well, a few more Nova Blasts should..." "HARPOON TORPEDO!" cried a very angry Ikkakumon voice as it fired three torpedoes at the Greymon. All three of them hit the Digimon. He turned and saw another Greymon, an Ikkakumon which looks like a white-furred walrus with a black horn on its forehead that the Harpoon Torpedoes were launced from, and a Togemon. Togemon look like large cacti with boxing gloves. The three Digimon combined their ability and easily defeated the creature. "WHAT?! Those Digi-brats are sharper than I thought. Hmm...now let's see...how can I slow them down...?" he pondered as he ordered his trailer to move forward. "I need some of Devimon's Black Gears so I can destroy that annoying Metalgraymon." he deduced.
