Latimer Co. Firefighters Association

Minutes -- September 11, 1999

The meeting was called to order by President Neal Wood at 2:05 p.m. Those departments represented were Ash Creek, Veterans Colony, West End and Wilburton. Minute were read and approved. Treasurers report was read. We now have an account at the Latimer St. Bank that all the incorporation papers have been received and filed.

Fire Reports: Ash Creek - 1; Veterans Colony - 1; Wilburton - several; West End - 2

Future projects were discussed by Neal Wood. Neal reported that he had been in contact with KEDDO and written a letter to Mike Mass to ask for financial assistance to build a classroom training facility to go along with the Hands on Training Center. Neal is also asking for funds to get a mobile training unit to help educate kids on house fire safety.

Neal also asked if any of the departments are interested in installing storm warning systems at the rural fire stations. It was decided to contact Gerald Downing before taking any more action on the issue.

Bob Dunlap reported that West End is in the process of installing another dry hydrant at John Wartick's pond.

Nikki Nix announced that National Fire Prevention Week will be the first week of October and suggested that the Association participate in this effort.

Bob Dunalp and Eric Glenn reported that the picnic is being planned to be held at Robbers Cave State Park. Burgers and Dogs are a covered dish will be the menu.

Training opportunities were discussed. Bob Dunlap requested that training on farm equipment rescue be considered for future training.

Old Business:

LCFA patches were discussed. Frances Dunlap had a brochure with various patches and designs. A committee made up on Neal Wood, Nikki Nix, Frances Dunlap and Bob Dunlap will bring a proposal for a patch design to the next meeting.
