Zac yawned loudly. He'd been up since five a.m. Mackie had woken up at four-thirty or so and decided to come wake Zac up. No matter how much Zac tried, Mackie wouldn't go back to sleep. It had been extremely frustrating.
Zac was laying on his bed reading Anthem. His mother had assigned it to him. He'd left the window open so Adia could get in.
"We have not written for many days," Zac read silently. "We did not wish to speak. For we . . . for we . . . " Zac dozed off, the book falling out of his hands. (*Excerpt from Chapter 9 of Ayn Rand's book, Anthem*)
Adia climbed in the window quietly. She heard Zac's snoring all the way down the street. He looked so cute, laying there fast asleep. He was almost smiling. She hated to wake him up, but she had to. She sat down on the bed beside him and brushed a strand of his blond hair out of his face. Then she leaned over and kissed him.
"Mmmmm . . . ," he murmured. "Adia . . . "
"Well, it's nice to know that you dream about me," Adia said smiling.
"Hmmmm . . . ," Zac groaned opening his brown eyes. "Good morning."
"Same to you, too," Adia replied. "I hope you had a good dream."
"Yeah, I did. You were in it," Zac said taking her tan hand in his.
"Oh . . . ," she said. "Well, I've done some thinking. About yesterday."
"And what's your decision?" Zac asked. He sat up, still holding onto her hand.
"Well . . . I figure that as long as Taylor doesn't find out . . . it's okay," she answered. She pushed him back on the bed and kissed him again.
"Come here," he said, cuddling her up under his arm. She rested her head on his shoulder as they stared at each other.
"Was I your first kiss?" she asked.
"Well . . . yeah. Why?" he replied.
"You were mine," she stated simply. He kissed her on the forehead. "You know, for being a first-time kisser, you did a pretty good job." He kissed her on the lips.
"You weren't so bad yourself, Blue Eyes," Zac responded. "Hey, what does your name mean?"
"It means ‘gift' in Swahili," she answered.
"Oh . . . well, even though it may sound incredibly cheesy, I guess you're my gift," he said. She giggled and kissed him on the nose.
"What does your name mean?" she asked.
"It means ‘God remembered'. My parents are kinda religious," he replied.
"Well, it fits you. A Zac by any other name just wouldn't be as sweet," she said softly. He touched her cheek gently.
"You've got . . . the most unbelievable blue eyes . . . I've ever seen," he sang in a whisper. She closed her eyes and put her arms around him. He was definitely falling for her. He kissed the top of her forehead, as he dozed off.

"Adia, wake up," he said.
"Hmmmm . . . what?" she asked, stretching and opening her eyes.
"My dad's home! You have to hide!" he exclaimed. She sat up quickly.
"Oh crap!" she exclaimed. She stood up and ran into the bathroom. Zac followed her. He shut the door behind them.
"Now be very quiet, okay?" he said. She nodded. She looked so scared standing there, and it was just more than he could take. He wrapped his arms around her and began to kiss her.
"Zac?" His father came into the bedroom.
"Yes?" Zac said between kisses. He pulled away from Adia, reaching over and flushing the toilet. He walked out of the bathroom.
"Have you been reading?" Mr. Hanson asked.
"Yes, sir," Zac replied.
"Well, keep on reading until about two o' clock. Mom should be home by then, and she needs you to watch Mackie while she runs some errands," Mr. Hanson said.
"Aw man! Again?!" Zac whined.
"Well, he'll probably be asleep the whole time, so it won't be too much of a burden," Mr. Hanson said. He left the room, Zac walked back into the bathroom. Adia was sitting on the edge of the bathtub.
"Nice whining," she said, smiling.
"Yeah, well I had to play with Mackie this morning already, when he woke me up and four-thirty. It's not something I cherish having to do again," Zac responded.
"Yeah, I know what you mean. My little sister is such a pain. And when Mom and Dad aren't home, she's worse," Adia replied. "Well, what do we do now?"
"I could think of a few things," Zac said mischievously.
"Oh, yeah?" Adia questioned.
"You bet," Zac answered. He grabbed her hand and pulled her into the closet. He shut the door.
"Zac? I can't see you," she said. Then she felt his lips against hers. Perfection.
