~~~~~~~~~~~~~~7 Days till the Wedding~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Daine couldn't believe it. She was going to get married in 7 days to be exact. She Daine Sarrasri was soon to be Daine Salmalin. Daine could remember the night Numair asked her to marry him with much pleasure.
They were on the top of his tower watching the meteors fall. Lighting the sky with their light as they slowly fell. Daine was in Numair's arms smiling contentedly as he held her tight. Suddenly he asked her something which pulled her out of her dreamlike trance.
"What?" Daine asked dreamily.
"Will you marry me?" he asked again.
Slowly Daine turned around to look him in the eyes. She gazed up at him, his face lit by the meteors' light which cast shadows around his dancing eyes. Which made him look the handsomest she had ever seen him. "Yes," was all she could manage before he swept her up into a passionate kiss.
"Mmmm," Daine thought back in her room at the palace.
"What are you thinking about?" asked Numair walking slowly into the room.
"I was just thinking about the night you asked me to marry you on the tower."
"I will always remember that as one of my most favorite times."
"Most favorite? Why not your favorite time?"
"Well my little magelet, that will come in just a few short days," Numair pulled her up and gave her a passionate kiss.
"I have to run down to the dressmaker, but I'll be back soon. I promise," Daine said walking out the door, "but first". She walked back over to Numair and kissed him. Not wanting to leave but knowing she had to she left for the dressmakers, but only after another kiss from Numair.
Walking to the dressmaker Daine found it VERY hard not to stop smiling. She remembered her dress to occupy the fifteen minute walk. It was a cream colored dress, which fell off the shoulder with a full skirt and 8 foot train. The skirt had a beautiful flower pattern woven into it. There was gorgeous hand beaded pearls sewn onto the edge of the top of the dress and some shiny cream beads sewn into the train which made it shine. She was borrowing one of Queen Thayets smaller tiaras to put in her hair. The brides maids dresses were a pale blue color. With no sleeves with not as full of a skirt as Daine's since she knew it was going to be hot, since the wedding was going to be held on the summer solstice. They also had the same pattern in the skirt but it was not as intricate.
Reaching the dressmakers she went inside for fittings. All of her brides maids were already there.
Daine greeted them as she walked in. Queen Thayets dressmaker, Fatima, ushered Daine onto a large pedestal and helped her into the dress. Onua, Daine's long time friend and maid of honor, gasped at the sign of Daine's dress. "It's gorgeous," she murmured circling her.
Queen Thayet grinned, "Whoever would have thought you and Numair…, whoever thought Numair would get married," she chuckled.
A boyish voice from across the room joined in, "Take it from me, I've been married, and I know Numair very well. Better than I'd like in fact," the knight stood up and walked across the room to see Daine. "You do look stunning," Alanna whispered as she hugged her friend.
Daine laughed, "And why do you think I shouldn't marry Numair?"
Alanna grinned devilishly, "Do I have to remind you about how vain he is? Or how the palace cooks are afraid of him? And that goes without even mentioning his temper, or the way he talks for hours or-"
"Enough!" Daine said laughing, knowing her friend was only joking.
Her last bridesmaid Miri smiled, "If you don't want him I'll marry him. He's still cute."
Fatima rolled her eyes, "Are we here to gossip, or get your dresses fitted?" The women stopped gossiping as the strict stream stress fitted their gowns.
