"Umm, I don't think that I know what you mean?" I stood there as Thayet was thinking.
"Hmm, think about it. You an almost unknown girl, no offense, and now you have come to be the only one who can wield a magic sword, that just so happened to try to kill the king and took swings at a few others... So just like Peters freaked out, trust me that there are some other blue-bloods that would react the same way." She paused and looked at me. "So, you can see my point..."
"Yeah..."
We both sat thinking for awhile as Sgt. Ezeko looked over Sharpie. "Can you hold him? I mean pick him up and swing him around." The shock of Ezeko talking surprised me.
"Uhh I don't know?" I reached over and gently picked up Sharpie only to find him kinda heavy.
As if the Sgt. was reading my thoughts he said, "Heavier than you expected?"
I awkwardly carried Sharpie over. "Yeah"
"This won't do." He and Thayet went over to a corner of the room talking.
I in the meantime, studied Sharpie. He was gold, but apparently spelled or something, because I highly doubt that he would be this light if he was true gold. All of a sudden a voice popped into my head speaking Spanish. '*Of course I'm gold, do I look gold to you, yes, shake your head, yes I AM pure 100% gold and thank you very much miss 'I'm so smart' I DO happen to be spelled so that people like yourself, if I choose, can lift me.*'
"Huh?" I said aloud.
'*They can't hear me, none of them can, but you. Interesting language they speak, I'll try to have to pick it up...*'
'Who are you?' I thought.
'*Well I'm right in your lap and you don't even notice me!*'
The sword, no it can't be the sword.
'* Yeeeeesss it caaan*'
"What's the matter?" Thayet had come over and was looking at me. "You look as if you'd just seen a Spidren and puked a goat."
"Oh nothing..." Interesting phrase.
'*Yes very*'
"Well, we've come to a descion... You will be taught swordsmanship. I think you might know your teacher. Riley of Finns Lake? He's an excellent swordsman and I think that he'll be an good teacher."
"Uh ok, but when do I start?"
"I think that you should be started immeadietly, however, Thayet thinks differently and you will start two days from tommorrow, which happens to now be today..." Sgt. Ezeko surmised. "Wow, we've been down here awhile... and we all need our rest, so if we may..." he gestured towards the door.
"What are we going to do with him?" I don't think that I could keep him in my room. Then where else would they keep him?
'*Locked up in some stupid dark safe, that's where. Eww, after the last 54 years locked up, I don't want to do that again.*'
"I could keep him in my room, since I'm the only one who can 'handle' him."
"No, we both think that it's safer to keep him locked up in a vault." Sgt. Ezeko came over and placed Sharpie from his place floating at my side, to the box he had come in.
'*What'd I tell you. Until we meet again.*'
Thayet turned to me. "You must be exhausted and to tell you the truth so am I, so let's head up to bed. It's still early in the morining, so I don't think that many people will be up yet."
Thayet and the two remaining men lead us through some underground passages. "You and Hamnet will go that way up into the gardens by your room and Richard and me will go this way," she jerked her thumb, "and go our own way." Hmm, in the torchlight, these men seemed familiar, but I brushed it off, it was just probably my fatigue.
Hamnet took me up some stairs, whick came out to a door that opened into the gardens from what looked like a wall. When the door shut, you couldn't even tell one was there, it blended into the stones on the wall. Not a lot of people out must have meant 20 to Thayet, more than I expected seeing as the sky wasn't even light yet, but Hamnet lead me back to my room and left me at my door saying that someone would send me a message tommorrow.
I went in and fell down onto my bed, and surprisingly found that I could not sleep. That voice was bothering me. How could it have possibly been the sword. I mean it was a sword, a little inanimate object. How could it possibly talk? Ya know? Oh well, whatever. I yawned, sleep had just started to be very inviting once again. Yeah, I reassured myself. I probably imagined the sword talking. I started to drift off to sleep.
'*No you didn't'*
My dream that night was disturbingly real. There were gaurds gaurding a room somewhere that I couldn't tell. All of a sudden there were noises coming from inside of the room. They went in and I guess that I went with them. There was something in a vault banging the door. They were holding it shut, but all of a sudden it burst open throwing the men back against the opposite wall. My view stayed near the door. Whatever had caused the rukus, had yet to come to where I could see it. All of a sudden Sharpie came out swinging as if weilded by an invisible person. He flew around the room a bit before aiming directly towards me and charging.
Back in my room my eyes flew open with a start. 'Ahh just a dream.'
I turned to go back to bed when I noticed a goldish light near my bed. Thinking I left a candle burning, I turned to blow it out, only to find Sharpie hovering by my bed.
"*Hi*"
