More Americana on the way November 20, 1998: The Offspring's home video will finally be released on December 8, with the same name of their newest CD, "Americana." The video contains 60 minutes of documentaries, live footages and sports videos. The video will have a few hard-to-find treats for diehards fans. Dexter Holland says the group's longtime friend Paul Cobb gathered footages on a Hi-8 camcorder from many stages of their career, including an appearance on The Wally George Show, which Holland believes was in 1991 (George is a religious zealot in Los Angeles). Along with these rarerities from the band, Guttermouth appears making some comedy, where they go on a beer run. While showing the beginning of the band through their limelight sucess, the video features lots of pro borders (skate, wake, snow and surf) and finest bikers (BMX and MOTO-X) with the band's music as background. "It literally took (Cobb) two years to do it in his spare time," told Holland on interview with Music Boulevard. Dexter describes the video as "short- attention- span theatre." "He (Cobb) went on a few tours, we did some skits, and he put pro boarder stuff in there. I've watched live videos before that bands put out, and they're not that interesting, so we only go for the first 30 seconds of the song or so, then cut into board stuff set to music and things." The video was screen on their official website on November 14th, and will probably be showed again on November 24th. |
