COURSE DESCRIPTION:
United States History is a course that begins at the reconstruction of the Civil War, explores the political, social and economic development of our country as it builds to a world power, crashes in a Great Depression, rises to a world police state in the second World War, struggles internally within a Civil Rights movement and fights the Cold War of communism.

GRADING POLICY:
Each assignment has a possible total points. Divide the points you earned by possible points and you will receive a percentage score for that assignment. You will receive a print out of your grades every 2 weeks. For accuracy, it is wise to keep a list of assignments and points in your notebook. ALL WORK SHOULD BE KEPT IN HISTORY NOTEBOOK until end of semester. Do not throw work away.
LATE POLICY: 1 LATE = 1 DETENTION
MAKE-UP WORK POLICY
:It is a student’s responsibility to find out what work has been missed and what assignments are to be completed. ANY work not completed within 2 weeks of excused absence will count as ˝ credit. No late or make-up work will be accepted after posted quarter due date (with the exception of absence at end of quarter).
DO NOT ATTEMPT TO BLAME TEACHER FOR WORK NOT COMPLETED BY STUDENT! Student must accept responsibility for assigned work.
EXTRA CREDIT
: Extra Credit will not be assigned at the end of a quarter. Extra credit points will be offered MANY TIMES throughout the marking periods – take advantage when it is offered. DO NOT ask for extra credit work to boost a deficient grade.
START UP:
Each student is expected to be seated in assigned seat at the end of the late bell. Students will begin start-up task from chalkboard immediately. START-UP sheets are located front of class next to door and will be collected on Friday.
CLASS PARTICIPATION:
To earn 5 points daily a Student MUST….
Student Seating Arrangement: Class seats will be changed more than once during the semester to ensure each student a different and fresh perspective of the class. Students are to remain in assigned seats unless otherwise directed.
