"Sorry about them guys. They are little snot nosed rugrats. Plus, in this house, seniority rules." Kate explained. Kate had an extremely neat house, considering how many kids were living there. It was almost immaculate. Kim figured Kate’s mom was a neat freak. "Sit down on the couch over there. I’m gonna go grab some sodas. Dr. Pepper okay?"

"Uh, yeah, that’s cool." Kim and Nicki plopped themselves onto the big leather sofa. Once Kim sat down, she heard a squeak. She sat up startled. It was one of the little kids toys.

Kate came in with three cans of soda and sat down in the big recliner. "So, you like it so far in Tulsa? It’s not boring you yet, is it?"

"Uh, yeah, it kinda is boring us...." Nicki replied, half-joking.

"Nicki!" Kim gave her sister a strange look. "No, it’s not boring. Not yet at least. We haven’t been here long enough for it to get boring I guess."

"Oh well, you two pretty much already fit in. I have already heard a few guys talking about ‘the new girls’." Katie said in a weird tone, "I’m figuring they mean you, since, well, there aren’t any other new girls at our school..."

Nicki laughed. "So, the guys, are they, uh, cute?"

"Yeah, I heard Ian, who’s like, THE hottest guy in our grade talking about you two. That’s a good sign, but I wouldn’t get involved with him." Katie warned. "He kinda has a girlfriend."

Kim thought out loud, "Are there any cute guys our age in this neighborhood?"

Kate just looked at Kim. "Wait, you weren’t told about the teenage guys on the street?"

"What?" Kim and Nicki said innocence.

"Uh, sit down for this one..."

"We already are." Nicki said, not trying to sound like she wanted to make Kate feel stupid.

"Well, you aren’t gonna believe this, but oh man, here it goes: You know the band Hanson?"

"Hell ya!" Kim grind, "Nicki here is their biggest fan!"

"Well, uh, they, um, ah, um…" Kate wanted to get something out but just couldn’t.

"WILL YOU STOP BLABBING AND SAY IT!" Nicki wanted to know what she was talking about. Anything that had ‘Hanson’ in the sentience she wanted to know about.

"They live across the street from you!"

Nicki’s jaw dropped. Kim’s did too. Neither knew quite what to say.

"I can’t believe they didn't tell you that when you bought the house. See they just moved into that house a little while ago. Something about their other house being bombarded by fans, plus they have a new baby and nowhere to put her, so they made a private buy and moved in a few months ago. Every one in the neighborhood had to sign an agreement that they wouldn’t reveal to the press about their ‘famous neighbors’. My parents signed it, and I’m sure yours must have to."

"Why didn’t mom or dad tell us? They know we love the band.... That was our motivation for moving here." Kim just smiled at Nicki when she said this, "We thought we’d be closer to them but not THIS close! This is unreal." Nicki didn’t know how she was supposed to react. She was excited, but nervous and happy and mad and all of these other emotions she didn’t know how to express.

"I’m sure your parents were gonna tell you soon. It’s not something they want to say ‘Oh yeah, that band Hanson lives across the street, just in case you wanna know...’ It’s not that easy. They were probably gonna tell you at dinner tonight or something."

DINNER.

They had forgotten about dinner.

"Oh, shit, we have to go. Sorry Kate." Kim said fast while she was getting up and heading to the door, Nicki right behind her.

"Thanks for having us over. Bye!" And with that Nicki and Kim ran out of the door.
