Arnhem (135.000 inwoners) is de hoofdstad van de provinvie Gelderland.
Na Apeldoorn en Nijmegen is het de grootste stad van Gelderland.
De stad Arnhem werd al vernoemd in 893, destijds Arneijm genoemd.
De stad kreeg in het jaar 1233 stadsrechten.
Een van de belangrijkste herkenningspunten van Arnhem is de gotische Eusebiuskerk.
De kerk werd gebouwd tussen 1452 en 1560.
Het provinciehuis bevindt zich tegenover de Eusebiuskerk.
Belangrijke musea in Arnhem zijn de Burgers' Zoo en het Openluchtmuseum,
beiden ten noorden van Arnhem, en het Gemeentemuseum.
Arnhem staat bekend om zijn parken. Het bekendst is het Sonsbeekpark,
in het hart van de stad.
Arnhem heeft diverse hogescholen. De HTS bevindt zich in de wijk Presikhaaf
en in het noorden van Arnhem bevindt zich het CIOS (Centraal Instituut voor
de Opleiding van Sportleiders). Bovendien bevindt zich in Arnhem een afdeling
van de Hogeschool Arnhem Nijmegen. Arnhem heeft geen universiteit. Tot slot van dit verhaal mogen twee dingen niet onbesproken blijven als we het over Arnhem hebben. Enerzijds is dat de Korenmarkt, het populaire uitgaansgebied van Arnhem, en anderzijds voetbalclub Vitesse. Arnhem (135,000 inhabitants) is the capital of the Dutch Gelderland province.
Arnhem is the third biggest city of this province.
Arnhem is recorded as early as 893, in those days called Arneijm.
In the year 1233 Arnhem was granted city rights.
The gothic Eusebius Church is one of the most striking buildings of
Arnhem. The church was built between 1452 and 1560. The County Hall
is situated in front of the Eusebius Church. Important museums in
Arnhem are the Open Air Museum and the Burgers' Zoo, both to the north
of Arnhem, and the Municipal Museum. Arnhem is well-known for its parks.
The best-known park is the Sonsbeek Park, in the heart of the city.
There are many schools of polytechnics in Arnhem. The HTS (Higher
Technical School) can be found in the Presikhaaf district and the
Institute for Sport Instructors is located to the north of Arnhem.
Furthermore there is a division of the Higher School Arnhem Nijmegen.
Arnhem does not have a university. When talking about Arnhem we must not forget to mention two more things. The first is the Korenmarkt, the popular square with all its pubs, and the second is the FC Vitesse. Güeldres. Arnhem es una de las ciudades más grandes de
esta provincia. La ciudad Arnhem fue mencionado por primera vez en
893, la por aquel entonces denominada Arneijm. La ciudad
recibió derechos de ciudad en el año 1233.
La gótica Iglesia de Eusebius es uno de los edificios
más importantes de Arnhem. La iglesia fue construida entre
1452 y 1560. La Casa de Diputación Provincial se encuentra
enfrente de la Iglesia Eusebius. Museos importantes en Arnhem son el
Museo al Aire Libre y el Zoo de Burgers, ambos en el norte de Arnhem,
y el Museo Municipal. Arnhem está afamado por sus parques. El
parque más conocido es el Parque Sonsbeek, en el centro de la
ciudad.
En Arnhem hay unas escuelas superiores importantes. En el barrio de
Presikhaaf se encuentra la Escuela Técnica Superior y al norte
de Arnhem se encuentra la Formación de Monitores de deportes.
Además hay secciones de la Escuela Superior Arnhem Nimega.
Arnhem no tiene universidad.
Hablando de Arnhem, no podemos pasar por alto dos cosas. La primera es
el Korenmarkt, el barrio popular donde se encuentran los bares, y la segunda es
el Vitesse. Este club de futbol se instaló en el nuevo estadio Gelredome
