CHAPTER ONE: THE DISAPPEARANCE
Ash, Misty, and Brock had found a cottage in Route 18, and decided to stay for a few days. They really needed the R&R. Right now, Ash and Brock were Pokémon dueling and Misty was watching. Misty was stirring a big bowl of white rice. Ash was badly losing. "Round 22, guys!" called Misty. "That's it! My Pokémon need a break." yelled Ash. "OK, I'll stop too." said Brock. "Great timing!" said Misty. "I'll go get the bread, red sauce, and cider." She went in the cottage nearby and brought back the food. Everyone stuffed their faces, especially Pikachu, for Misty had given him a plate of ketchup. Brock fed his, Ash's, and Misty's Pokémon with his special Pokémon food. "Man, I'm hot!" said Ash. "Hey, how about a swimming contest?" There was a river nearby. Everyone agreed. First they had a breath-holding contest. Misty's turn was last. She went underwater, and when she came back up she was holding a Pikachu grasping a dead Magikarp. At first they thought it was Ash's Pikachu, but he had gone back to the shore and was drinking the ketchup bottle like soda pop. "A wild Pikachu?" questioned Brock. "I didn't know they lived in these parts." "PIKA!" cried the Pikachu, leaping out of Misty's arms. "Pi?" said Ash's Pikachu. "CHU!" both said, ran towards each other, hugged, and ran off into the forest. Misty and Brock looked worried, but Ash just said, "Don't worry about it! He just hasn't seen another Pikachu in a long time. If I know my Pikachu, he'll be back by sundown." But at midnight, Ash was still awake. Pikachu hadn't returned. Getting up, still in his clothes, he went out to search for Pikachu.
CHAPTER TWO: THE TRIBE
"PPIIIKKKAAAACCHHUUUU!!!" yelled Ash. "HHEEERRREE PPIIKKKAAACCHHUU!" He had searched almost the entire forest. Where was Pikachu? He stood on a cliff. "PPIIKKAACCHHUU!!!" he called. But Ash's weight was too much for the unstable cliff. It broke away, taking him with it! "AAAAHHHHHHH!" screamed Ash. WHUMPH! He landed on the ground-hard. His leg hurt so much, he instantly knew it was broken. He was so deep in the forest, he would freeze before Brock and Misty found him! FWOOOOSH! A blazing light appeared in front of him. It was Pikachu, holding a torch! He stuck it in the dirt. "Oh, Pikachu!" cried Ash, hugging him. "PI!" yelled Pikachu angrily. He lept out of Ash's arms. It was then Ash noticed Pikachu had only one stripe. It was a wild Pikachu. Then Ash spotted four other Pikachus in the distance. One was his. "Cha!" Pikachu raced up to Ash and gave him a big hug. "Please come back to the cottage." said Ash. Pikachu shook his head, then all of the Pikachus ran off into the darkness. "Hey Ash, is that you?" Ash recognized Brock's voice. He and Misty came racing down to him. "You're lucky Misty woke up to get a drink and noticed you were gone." said Brock. "You're also lucky we noticed your torch." said Misty. Both managed to lift up Ash and drag him back to the cottage. Ash sighed. It appeared Pikachu had found himself a nice, new home, and he would have to work overtime to bring him back.
CHAPTER THREE: THE BREAK-IN
Ash's leg had been bandaged by Brock, at least until they found a doctor. Misty and Brock had gone out on a nature hike, and Ash lay on his bed, eating a breakfast burrito. Pikachu always liked breakfast burritos, he thought. "Pika!" came a voice. Ash turned to the tiny window at the left of the cottage. A very tall Pikachu was opening the window. He opened it, and landed on the floor. A short Pikachu was right behind him, followed by a Pikachu with black stripes and a fat Pikachu. One-Stripe came next, and yes! His Pikachu came last! The Pikachus walked over to the shelf where the food was kept and began grabbing everything their little yellow paws could hold. "Hey!" yelled Ash. But his leg prevented him from getting up to stop them. At this point, Misty and Brock came through the front door. "What the..." yelled Brock. He ran over and grabbed a Pikachu. "KA CHU!" it cried. Brock fell to the ground, electricuted. "Oh my goodness!" cried Misty. She pulled out a Pokéball. "Staryu, go!" She knew Staryu wasn't a great fighter on land, but what else could she do? She had to chase the Pikachus away. "Staryu, Swift attack!" she yelled. It was about the only attack he could do on land. "Hi ya!" yelled Staryu. Tiny stars shot out from his rainbow core. WHAPH WHAPH WHAPH WHAPH WHAPH! They hit the Pikachus repeatedly. The Pikachus decided they didn't want a fight, dropped the food, and bolted for the window. Staryu was getting weak on land, so Misty recalled him. "Staryu, return!" she yelled, and a bolt of red light sucked him back into the Pokéball. As Brock got up, Ash began to cry. He had been so close to his Pikachu-would he ever get him back?
CHAPTER FOUR: THE DISCOVERY
"My leg feels better." proclaimed Ash. "I'm going to look for Pikachu." "Wait for me!" said Brock. "Yeah," said Misty, "you're not leaving us out on any adventures!" Later, deep in the forest, Ash came up with a plan. He called out Bulbasaur. "Bulbasaur," he told the Pokémon, "use your sense of smell and experiance in a forest to find the Pikachu tribe's camp." "Bulba." nodded Bulbasaur, and then ran off into the forest. 15 minutes later, Bulbasaur came racing back. "Saur! Bulb bulba!" he yelled. "He wants us to follow him." said Ash. A Butterfree flew over their heads, and a Primeape watched them from a tree. Tears came to Ash's eyes as he thought about his Butterfree and Primeape, long gone. But he shook it off. "Bulb!" said Bulbasaur, twisting his head towards large wooden gates. A stone statue of a Pikachu holding a basket was out front. The basket was filled with grass. "PI KA CHA KA PIKA CHU" was carved on the Pikachu. "It says 'Grass Pikachu Tribe.'" translated Ash. He pulled out his Pokédex. "Dexter, more information." commanded Ash. "Pikachu tribes." Dexter said. "There are three other tribes: The Rock Pikachu Tribe in Mt. Moon, the Raichu Pikachu Tribe located elsewhere in this forest, where all Pikachus go before they evolve into Raichus, and the Water Pikachu Tribe, located in the Seafoam Islands. Right now each tribe only has five members because the rest are out on a month-long hunting journey. Normally, each tribe has about 30 members." "Let's climb up into that tree." suggested Misty. "We can get a better view." "Bulba?" asked Bulbasaur. "Good work, Bulbasaur." said Ash. "Now, return." A bolt of bright red light sucked Bulbasaur back into his Pokéball. They climbed up a tree. The camp had about 30 Clefairy fur tents up against the back wall. One was dyed red. On the left wall were two Clefairy fur tents. One was dyed blue and one was dyed yellow. In the middle was a bonfire area. Beside it was a wooden stand, the type presidents make announcements behind. On the other side was a table that looked like you would eat at. "The red tent is the leader's tent." said Dexter. "The blue tent is a weapons tent where spears, bows, and arrows are kept. The yellow tent is the medical tent where sick or injured Pikachus go." "Their intellegence is amazing, isn't it?" commented Misty. "Let's be quiet now, before they hear us." said Brock.
CHAPTER FIVE: THE POACHERS
Without warning, the red Clefairy fur tent opened. All five Pikachus walked out. "PI!" yelled One-Stripe loudly. The Pikachus began walking all over the camp, sniffing the ground. "I think they smell us." said Brock. "Of course!" said Ash. "Who else is here?" "Prepare for trouble!" came a voice from a tree at the other side of the camp. "Make it double!" "To protect the world from devestation!" "To unite all peoples with our nation!" "To denounce the evils of truth and love!" "To extend our reach to the stars above!" "Jessie!" "James!" "Team Rocket! Blast off at the speed of light!" "Surrender now or prepare to fight!" "Meowth! That's right!" Team Rocket jumped down from the tree and faced the Pikachus. "PI KA!" Tall-Pikachu and Fat-Pikachu lept at Team Rocket, cheeks sparkling. James calmly pressed a button on a remote control. A rubber net fell on the two Pikachus. Black-Stripes and Short-Pikachu backed up and ran for it. Jessie pressed a button on a remote control and a rubber net landed on them too. One-Stripe raced away. Meowth pulled a rope lying on the ground. The ground fell away beneath One-Stripe and he landed in a pit. Ash's Pikachu was left quivering. "Hey," said James, "it's the little boy's Pikachu!" "But where's the little boy?" questioned Jessie. "Who cares?" said Meowth. "This can't get any easier!" James pressed a button on a remote control and a rubber net landed on Ash's Pikachu from the tree above. However, Ash, Misty, and Brock were in that tree and they came tumbling down too. "There's the little boy and his friends!" yelled Meowth. James and Jessie pulled out rocket launchers and aimed them at Ash and his friends. "Get in the net." commanded Jessie. They crawled into the net. All of the Pikachus were captured...and them! What were they gonna do now?
CHAPTER SIX: THE CONFLICT
"Get that Pikachu with one stripe out of the pit and load him into a net!" commanded Meowth. Jessie and James put on rubber gloves and walked over to a pit when they heard voices. "Prepare for trouble!" "Make it double!" "To
infect the world with devestation!" "To blight all peoples within every nation!" "To denounce the goodness of truth and love!" "To extend our wrath to the stars above!" "Cassidy! "Butch!" James and Jessie exchanged surprised and angry looks. "Team Rocket, we circle the Earth day and night!" "Surrender to us now or you will surely lose the fight!" "That's right!" "Raticate!" "What are you doing here?" demanded Jessie. "Giovanni sent us." shrugged Cassidy. "He wouldn't do that! We were already on the job!" yelled James. "Guess he wanted someone who could actually do the job." laughed Butch. "Leave!" yelled Meowth. "These Pikachus are ours!" "No," said Cassidy, "they're ours. And we're willing to cut you down to size to get them." She drew a sword. Butch quickly drew his. "So it's a fight you want, is it?" laughed James. He drew his rocket launcher and Jessie drew hers. Meowth and Raticate decided it isn't good to be unarmed in a battle and scampered away. James and Jessie both fired and hit a tree behind Butch and Cassidy. The tree fell down. Butch lept out of the way. Cassidy also jumped out of the tree's path but was hit by a falling branch. She fell on top of the rubber net Ash, Misty, Brock and Pikachu were in. Her sword fell on it, too, and sliced part of it off. She didn't even notice, picked up her sword, and resumed battle. Ash and his friends crawled out and silently freed all of the Pikachus. Team Rocket was so busy fighting they didn't even notice Ash, Misty, Brock, and 5 Pikachus slip into the night.
CHAPTER SEVEN: THE GOODBYE
Pikachu waved a tearful goodbye to the Pikachu tribe, who in turn thanked Ash and his friends for saving them. Then they disappeared back into the forest. "Pi ka cha. Chu pi." said Pikachu. "What did he say?" asked Misty. "He said that he never intended to stay with the tribe forever, he just wanted to get back in touch with his roots." translated Ash. "Everything's all packed up. We can leave anytime." reported Brock. Pikachu hopped up onto Ash's shoulder, and they left the abandoned cottage for the next traveller in search of a place for some R&R. "I wonder who's cottage that was?" asked Ash. "Who knows?" replied Misty. "Maybe the Pikachu tribe's." Pikachu sighed and leaned up against Ash's head. Ash smiled as they followed the path to who knows where.
