Battle at T.A.E. Gym

Author's Note: This story was created for the winning gym trainer in the Create-A-Gym-Trainer Contest.
Ash and his friends are on the road to their next Pokémon challenge. "So, where's the next gym?" asked Ash. Suddenly, they were stopped by a Channeler. A young Gengar was at her side, grinning happily. "What do you want?" growled Ash. "If it's a Pokémon battle, I'm ready!" The Channeler shook her head. "My only Pokémon is this Gengar, and it's too young to battle. I just want to inform you of the opening of a new gym." "Where?" Ash asked gleefully. "Route 2." the Channeler replied. "Route 2?" cried Misty. "That's too far away!" "I can help." smiled the Chaneller. "Gengar, go!" The Gengar lept in front of Ash and his friends. "Gengar!" he grinned. "Gengar, Hypnosis!" called the Channeler. "What are you doing!?" cried Brock. But it was too late. Within moments, Ash and his friends were sawing logs.

They woke up quickly. "Where are we?" asked Misty. "Pewter City's over there." Brock said, looking around. "We must be in Route 2! Let's get to the gym!" yelled Ash. "Pika pika." Pikachu said, pointing to a large building. "T.A.E. Gym." Ash read the sign. Suddenly, a buzzer rang. A large group of Jr. Trainers came out of the gym. Brock stopped a male one. "Tell us about this place." he asked. "This is the new T.A.E. Gym-Trainers Against Evolution Gym. None of the trainers here want their Pokémon to evolve. The gym leader teaches Jr. Trainers how to be great Pokémon trainers. Class just ended, that's why you heard the buzzer. The gym leader is now taking challenges." "Tell us about the gym leader." asked Misty. "Her name is Tammy. She's 18, with 6 Pokémon. If you beat her, you'll get the Stubborn Eevee Badge." Then the Jr. Trainer ran off. "OK Pikachu, let's go!" called Ash. They walked inside the gym. There were two doors: Classroom and Gym Trainer. Ash pushed open the Gym Trainer door. A girl sat in a chair on the other side of the room. There was a long, wide, but shallow pit between her and Ash where the Pokémon would battle. "So you're my first challenge." she grinned. "I am Ash Ketchum from the town of Pallet!" called Ash. "It will be a two-on-two battle, three rounds." Tammy said. "For my first Pokémon, I will use Bulbasaur and Squirtle!" Ash cried, throwing two Pokéballs. "Then I will use Ditto and Porygon!" she called. The two Pokémon came out. "Be careful, Ash." said Brock. "That Ditto is at Level 40, and that Porygon is at Level 25!" Squirtle decided to fight Ditto, and Bulbasaur decided to fight Porygon. "Ditto, Transform! Porygon, Psybeam!" Suddenly, standing right in front of Squirtle was....another Squirtle! A bright beam hit Bulbasaur, and knocked him backwards. "Squirtle, Bubble! Bulbasaur, Vine Whip!" cried Ash. Several vines hit Porygon, who was hardly affected by them. Ditto popped Squirtle's bubbles and laughed. Tammy grinned. "Ditto, Bite! Porygon, Tackle!" Ditto bit Squirtle's head, and Porygon slammed into Bulbasaur. "Bulbasaur, Squirtle, return!" cried Ash. "Porygon, Ditto, return!" called Tammy. "Go, Psyduck, Eevee!" "Go, Charizard, Pidgeotto!" called Ash. "Evolved forms." spat Tammy. "I'll make them pay!" "She might, Ash!" whispered Misty. "Her Psyduck's at Level 61, and her Eevee's at Level 50!" Charizard went to take on Psyduck, and Pidgeotto went to take on Eevee. "Eevee, Take Down! Psyduck, Hydro Pump!" A large blast of water hit Charizard. It fell down, moaning. Eevee lept up and hit Pidgeotto, knocking him to the ground. "Charizard, Fire Spin! Pidgeotto, Wing Attack!" Charizard yawned, and fell asleep. Pidgeotto hit Eevee with its wings. Eevee bit Pidgeotto's wing, and tossed him around and into Ash. "Pidgeotto, Charizard, return!" sighed Ash. "Psyduck, Eevee, return!" called Tammy.

Team Rocket was watching the battle from the gym's skylight. "Her Pokémon are incredible!" James grinned. "And she sure is cute." he quickly added. "They're not even evolved!" cried Meowth. All three Team Rocket members looked at each other and said at the same time, "Let's snatch 'em!"

Ash had called out Krabby and Pikachu to take on Tammy's Level 50 Farfetch'd and Level 57 Bulbasaur. Pikachu was taking on Farfetch'd and Krabby had been taking on Bulbasaur, but a beaten-up Krabby and a confident Bulbasaur had been recalled. "Pikachu, Thunder!" yelled Ash. "Farfetch'd, Slash!" yelled Tammy. Before the Pokémon could do their attacks, the skylight broke and the room was filled with smoke. "Prepare for trouble!" "Make it double!" "To protect the world from devestation!" "To unite all peoples within our nation!" "To denounce the evils of truth and love!" "To extend our reach to the stars above!" "Jessie!" "James!" "Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!" "Surrender now or prepare to fight!" "Meowth! That's right!" The smoke cleared. "It's Team Rocket!" cried Ash. James was holding a sack filled with Ash, Misty, Brock, and Tammy's Pokéballs. Jessie was holding a tied-up Farfetch'd and Pikachu. "See ya around, Pokémon-less trainers!" laughed Meowth. "You won't get away with this!" cried Ash. "Pikachu, Thunder!" "PIKA!" yelled Pikachu. "We should have made the ropes rubber!" yelled Jessie as Team Rocket was electricuted. "Farfetch'd, Peck out of those ropes and Slash Team Rocket!" Farfetch'd used his sharp beak to gnaw away the ropes, and scratched Team Rocket with his stick. Team Rocket dropped the bag of Pokéballs in the confusion. Misty ran over and grabbed it. "Pikachu, Thundershock!" cried Ash. The force of the electric shock sent Team Rocket flying out of the broken skylight. "Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" called Team Rocket as they disappeared in the sky. "We did it!" cried Ash. "Pi pikachu!" grinned Pikachu. They both did the peace sign.

Ash and Tammy stood outside T.A.E. Gym. "For courage in battle, I present you with the Stubborn Eevee Badge." Tammy said, holding out a round, gold circle with an Eevee kicking away an evolution stone painted on it. "Wow, a Stubborn Eevee Badge!" cried Ash, pinning it on his vest with the other badges. "Good luck in your journey!" called Tammy, as Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu walked away. Suddenly, the air around them turned wavy, and they seemed to fly through time and space.

Ash and his friends woke up. They were in the same place they were before that crazy Channeler used her Gengar to put them to sleep. "What happened?" asked Ash, dazed. "I dreampt I was in Route 2." All of his friends nodded. Misty looked at her belt. "We still have our Pokémon, she wasn't a thief." "Maybe she's just weird." shrugged Brock. "Pika pika." grinned Pikachu. As our heroes walk away, no one notices the strange badge on Ash's vest.
