BASS LAKE SAR JUMPS 16-19 June 98

Each year, our SAR crewmen ar required to perform annual SAR water jumps. This really works out great for all the the people at OMD/SAR, aircrew or maintenance crew. We pitch our tents at Bass Lake and begin a great week of intense training and recreation. This is a great time for us to bring our families together and build bonds. Being a small division, the close knitness of our group helps us all to work effieciently and gives us greater pride in seeing our professional goals met and surpassed.

All photos taken by Michael Lea.

Jim Furlong assumes the classic water entry position while Jim Barrailler and Ryan Pedersen prepare to follow as the Crewchief,Jason Holmes, supervises the jump sequence from the back of the HH-1N.

The Crewcheif blows the whistle and the jumpers enter the water in pairs.

Once everyone is deployed, the helo circles the group, and moves in for a water hover recovery.

Once everyone is on the skids and inside the aircraft, Roy Edwards uses his god given signal mirror to let everyone on shore know that everyone is A-OK!!!

Once everyone is back onboard, the cycle is repeated 5 more times.
