Norm St-Aubin and I

A Doctor from Quebec City laoned this vessel to the Warner Brothers movie set. Norm St-Aubin pictured here with me on the Sail Boat was responsible for purchase and delivery of most of the boat props used in making this segment of the film. Norm was our previouse Rear Comadore at the Sailing club and my favourite employer at the time.

Andre Couture and Norman St-Aubin

Andre and his lovely wife Madelaine (whom I hope to get a photo of soon) were the people assigned to sail this vessel to Montreal from Quebec City. They lived aboard the vessel for nearly 6 weeks. This part of the movie was being filmed just down the street from where I live in Ile Perrot

Full Length

The interior of this boat is all of beautifully crafted wood. One addition to this boat is the deck that was entirely redone at the cost of Warner Brother's. It has been replaced by solid teak. Also added to it is very old hatches..

Added Props

The chrome railings were completely removed from the boat and replaced with these brass railings for the movie. Railings were removed and replaced by the originals after they were through using the boat. It is not recommended that Brass be used on the boat because of corrosion and especially upkeep..

Special Props

This solid teak platform was added to the stern for camermen and additional stunts. A great deal of money was put on to this boat, only to be removed later because these extra additions would serve no purpose to the original owner of the boat. This platform is also much to heavy for the balast of the boat while sailing.

"Action"

Here is an actual take with Gene Hackman and the Sailboat set adrift behind him. Norman St-Aubin and I attended the Premier Showing in Montreal and Norman was pleased to see his name for his efforts in the transcripts of the Movie.

I had waited so long to see the final results of the movie. While searching the internet to try to find information, I came across a site where I requested the starting date and theater locations and along with a response I was issued two free passes to attend the Premier of "Heist" at the Eaton Cinima Complex which was being presented on the very same day. I rushed to contact Norman St-Aubin to invite him to share the passes with me. The movie is very well done with the exception of violence. Very funny and Gene Hackman was as usual exceptionally super.
