HBK Speaks On D-X, Vince Russo, Bret Hart, & More Posted by PWS Journalist Ryan Clark on 06/21/2002 PWS DISCUSSIONS: Discuss This Story w/ 1000's Of PWS Fans >>>! The following is a recap of HBK's appearance on Byte This! from Kevin Gregg: Tom asked Shawn if he watched much WWE during his time away? Shawn said that he didn't, to be honest. It's been about 4 years since he left and for the first year and a half, he watched. When he and his wife found out they were having a baby, he sort of lost touch with it. The last couple of weeks, he's done his best to watch the monitor and he's been around a lot of guys he hasn't seen in a while and even though he's been back for three weeks, he's still just trying to get his bearings again and get his feet right and get back into the groove of what's going on. Shawn wasn't climbing the walls, wanting to come back because if he wanted to come back, he would have been back already. When he met his wife, it put his life at peace and it went another direction. It's not to imply that wrestling isn't still important, but it's just that his life went in another direction and he's thrilled about it. He's glad to be back and it's fun to be doing it again but he just needs to take some time to be able to get back into the groove and try to get a feeling on where the business is and where he's at and how he can help in his role. They talked about Confidential and Shawn said that no one spoke to him about it and he said that he wanted to tell the truth about this. He did it because he was told to give an answer and he gave it. He did that because he was a good soldier following an order. He's been accused of downplaying the incident, but it's not that. He knows it was he and Bret and they had a history but on that day, it had nothing to do with he and Bret. They talked and put their stuff behind them. That day was between Bret and Vince and he was lucky enough to be the guy that had to be on the other side of the ring. He wanted to finally tell the truth and it wasn't anything earth shattering because everyone figured he knew. Tom asked Shawn how he feels about Vince Russo coming back? Shawn said that he's actually in favor of it for a couple reasons. They have a lot of old timers and Russo knows most of them. When they did Confidential on Shawn, the individual had to do research on Shawn because they didn't know who Shawn was. He says that light heartedly because it's funny. He's glad he's researchable. Russo knows the older guys and he feels that most of the current writers don't come from a wrestling background. Russo's background is all wrestling. Everyone can talk about Russo's demise in WCW, but Russo was good because he had McMahon to lead him. Everyone is always good under McMahon. Russo always wrote some good stuff for DX and Shawn feels it'll be a step in the right direction.
