Concert Reviews
The B96BASH October 30, 1997:
I was a loner for this concert...Well, it was just me and my cool parents.
ha ha ha... But i did see one of my really good friends there and we were
together till the concert started.
As soon as I arrived all i noticed were Hanson t-shirts and posters and
about 25 billion pre-teen/teen girls! It seemed like no one was even there to
see the Backstreet Boys, or Robyn, or Aalyiah, or any of the other groups!
I think i was sleeping till Hanson came on because I had to get up the next
morning at 5:00.
Anyways, I do remember Eddie and Jobo singing the "Ken Doll" song right
after they played the "Barbie Girl" video....Well, I'll cut to the chase, when
Hanson walked on stage I gasped! I couldn't believe I was actually seeing them!
I can't remember EXACTLY the songs they played, but i can tell you Zac was
looking mighty cute in his motorcross costume but he seemed to be the only one
getting into the whole "Halloween" thing. Taylor had on a red "blouse" thing
with a white shirt underneath and it seemed to be laced up with brown leather
strings..well it was weird, but it looked cool on Tay! (like most things!) Isaac
was wearing a cheap brown leather jacket that couldn't have cost more than ooh...
say about $2.50? Just joking, but that HAD to be the most HIDEOUS thing he's
ever worn. (sorry to be so critical) Well, I think they played about 12 songs.
MmmBop was the first and the last with no encor. Zac had fun dumping his
"Evian" water on the hansonites in the front row. Then when he was trying to be
Mr. Macho he tripped over a speaker but made a quick recovery. (poor Zaccy!)
Well, they left the stage...never to be seen again! Actually they
were! (See Below Line)
On July 25th in Milwaukee WI (about 2 1/2 hrs. from my house):
For this concert I was actually prepared...I had binoculars for both, but my
seats wern't really half bad! I brought my friend, Ginger, and we were both
EXTREMELY excited! (next time, Marikit, I'll take you and Katie!!!!) We both had
on Hanson t-shirts and I painted my face/arms with "I love Zac" "Hanson Rules"
etc.
In the van windows we had t-shirts and posters and signs reading, "Headed
to see Hanson LIVE!" etc. WE recieved MANY honks and looked out the window and
saw a carload of Hansonites flashing the peace, thumbs up, or I luv you signs!
It was awesome!
We walked in the gates and heard aboout 32.9 billion girls screaming
blood-curdling murder. And we were all like,"Ohmigoodness..is Hanson out there?!?"
WEll, ***OBVIOUSLY*** they wern't...We made our way to our seats and patiently
waited while they played REALLY corny oldies songs and kept flashing the Spice
Girls on the overhead screen (which EVERYONE booed at).
About 5 years later Admiral Twin started playing. *Go Jarrod Gollihare* and
they were actually pretty cool. They sounded like a weird mix between the
"Cherry Poppin Daddies" and "Smashmouth"...dun ask! Anyways, after about 20 min.
Hanson walked onto the stage as everyone burst into hestatic screams. They
played "Gimme some Lovin" and a few others and then left... Then they came back
on and did an acoustic set in this "living-room" get up. Seriously, there was a
couch and a lamp and a love seat! I think they need some explaining to do on
this one.
Then.. Zac and Tay left and Ike did a solo... Then they ALL came back on,
then they whipped out the squirt guns and drenched the audience. You'll see in
one of my pics. Zac is pointing while Tay is standing behind him and Zac is
saying,"hey tay, check out that girl! her sign says squirt me!" So they both
squirted her...a lot!
Then they did more songs and Isacc started jammin on the keyboards while Tay
kicked it on the drums and Zac had his fun squirting people!
They finished with Mmmbop and ran (really) off the stage. But the crowd didn't
give up. Chanting,"Hanson Hanson Hanson Hanson..." encouraged them to come back
and finish with an encore of "Man from Milwaukee" and Taylor dedicated to
everyone there (since it was a Milwaukee show).
We rushed out of the stadium and passed this big parking like that was
really close and it was open to the back of the stage. And there were about 3
tour buses. (one of which appeared on Fox news the following week while in
Chicago) So i figured if i stood there long enough Hanson would HAVE to come out
and we could scream their name and they would come over.
My dad was stubborn and DRAGGED me away from the rail. It was
fun. It was REALLY fun. It was the best time I've ever had in my entire life!
Hope you enjoy the pics!

Yet -another- review, this time from the second Tulsa concert.
Well...how many times can you read the review of a concert and get bored
with it? Ok, I've read close to a hundred and I'm still not sick of it, but
here's more of a rundown of what other things happened to Melissa besides -just-
the concert.
Anyways, as you know,
recently (last Sept.) I went on a short 3-day trip to Tulsa. We went to all
the usual "Tulsa-trip" spots. (E.G. Blue Rose, Zats, Rex's Laserquest, their
HOME!) WEll, we went to the concert and it was great!!!
Afterwards, we left
before the encore was over. Good thing for that cause my friend Chelsea and I
went down to where the back exit was and we were the only 2 there so far.
Anyways, we saw Diana walk RIGHT past us w/ all the JAMZ. It was great.
Jessie kinda hid Mackie -n- Avie so I didn't get that good of a glimpse of
them, but I did see Diana carrying Zoe. We were like. "HI DIANA!!!" really
loud and she smiled and waved to us. WEll, I didn't get any pics. cuz I was
saving what I had left for when Hanson came out. I thought that I did take
pics, but when I got them develpoed, they wern't there. Oh well! Cuz then,
Hanson ran by (literally) and I snapped like MILLIONS of pics. Of course,
they all came blurry!
Anyways, i thought that was like the best thing
ever..then the next day came. We went to Hanson's home 2x. That's when we met
John, the house-sitter and we saw Wickett. John took all the b-day ballons
and flowers we brought for Zac into the house. He promised he'd give the to
him a.s.a.p. He said the guys wouldn't be back for awhile, but "we didn't
hear this from him" but if we wanted to, we could come by later that
afternoon. So we did and after standing around with a few other fans for like
10 min, their white van came pulling down the street!
AGHHH! Of course, it
was only Walker, Diana, and Zoe, but Hey! That's better than nothing! So
Walker started loading some stuff into the van when we heard Zoe crying.
Walker said, "It's okay Zoe!" and then Diana came up and talked to us. She
seemed pretty impressed that we came all the way from Indiana. It was a
short, but sweet chat. We colleted some grass and leaves and laminated them
while we were at their house.
Oh, we also gave Jon the sign we were holding.
It said, "From: NW Indiana TO: Tulsa, Oklahoma..WE just wanna see Hanson!" It
looked like a big envelope. Anyways, we also took a pic with it and after
we got home, we sent letters to them with pictures of us w/the sign. Okay, so
that's a condesed version of my story! =)
