"Conflicting Emotions"
Deep inside my soul,
my emotions run so free,
constantly conflicting,
going their own way.
Sometimes I feel like singing,
my heart so full of praise.
But then I feel like screaming,
my life so full of rage.
I can find myself crying so hard,
praying for something to free me.
Then I’ll turn my back,
and try to handle it alone.
My life can seem so empty,
so void of any purpose.
The only thing I feel inside,
are my emotions running wild.
Conflicting, confusing, consuming,
driving me insane.
I never know how to feel,
or how I’m supposed to act.
I know that help is out there,
just waiting for me to ask.
They’re waiting to give me peace,
a stillness in my soul.
The kind I long for,
the kind I need.
But until I learn to ask,
I’ll have these conflicting emotions.

'To hold a Child'
9/22/98
Marikit Schwartz
One of the most amazing things happened just today, I was working in the
nursery at church, and I got to hold a young child who is only three months old.
He fussed some, mostly he was quiet, but he had his moments, such as these.
He started to pull away from me and cry a little bit which broke my heart, I
can't stand the sound of a child crying, much less a child I'm holding and feel
responsible for. Somewhere down in my heart the sound of a child crying just
plays with my emotions, it almost makes me want to cry.
After walking him around for a few minutes I had another one of the children
hand me his blanket, which I gently placed over myself and him. After he calmed
down I took a seat and began to gently rock him, he started fussing again until
I started to hum a couple of songs, then he settled down and just laid against
me.
I could hear his breathing slow down and take on a very rhythmic pace, soon
his loosened his grip on my collar and fell asleep. As I just sat there rocking
him, I could feel my heart also slow down to almost match his. A few minutes
later, I could feel him breathing against my shoulder, and I could hear his
heart beating against the sound of my own. The room slowly faded to just me and
him, even though there were three other babies as well as another worker,
nothing mattered at that moment except for what was happening right then and
there.
A child is a precious thing, and all too often taken for granted, so I
treasure any chance I get to work with kids. Some of the highest compliment I
have received concerned me working with kids, because it makes me glad that my
love for children shows through with how I work with them.
I will always continue to work with kids. Nothing is the same as the love
you feel for them, and the love they show in return when they come to see you
as a shelter, someone they feel comfortable with.
To me, one of the most wonderful things I take part in, is to hold a child.
"Hanson: the Meaning"
Life without your music
Would be life without a reason
Everybody needs it.
Every week of every season.
When you're feeling lonely
or when you're feeling blue
Just skip to #9
"I Will Come to You"
Or when you've got some Kleenex
And think crying would do you great
Just listen to the ballad, "Lucy"
(That's track #8)
And when you've got a friendship
that's falling to the pits
Just listen once to "Mmmbop"
One of Hanson's greatest hitz.
And if a loved one's passed
and it's realer than it seems
just skip on over to #12
"With you in your dreams"
And if you feel alone in this world
and you need some comforting,
Track #1, "Thinking of you"
is the cure for just that thing.
And then sometimes we're a bit confused
we're in a faceless crowd.
"Weird" will reassure you
it will make you feel proud.
And if you feel hatred
and you wonder, "Where's the Love?"
#5 is heaven-sent
a message from above.
And if you've got the time
to step into some shoes,
"Look at you" lets you bust a move
in any way you choose.
If your boyfriend's acting strange
and you're wondering what's up
Just listen once to "Speechless"
that should clear things up.
And if there is a mystery,
you cannot figure out
Then "Yearbook" is the type of song
you cannot do with out.
And if, by chance, your relationship
is on a merry-go-round
Well, "Madeline" has been there
#11 is where she's found
And then there is the bonus track
This song is kinda wacky.
"Man from Milwaukee" is a 'different' song
written by little Zaccy.
You see? These songs have meanings
and they're sure to help you out.
But the voices of the Hanson's
we couldn't do without.
