My story
As you may have noticed from these pages, my Faith is very important to me. I believe that every
good thing in my life has come to me as a gift from God.
Ever since I can remember, my parents took me to church and Sunday School. I learned a lot about
God there: how great He is and how He loves us. I sang songs about Jesus, memorized Bible verses and
learned many Bible stories. I even thought that one day when I was grown, I would like to serve God
in some way. But my Faith was limited. I didn’t know that it was possible to have a personal
relationship with God. I really didn't believe that anyone could truly say - with confidence - " I know for certain that I am going to Heaven."
There are 6 kids in my family and my parents loved us all. When I was a teenager, I found that I had
a tremendous amount of freedom. My mother was very sick, loosing a long battle to cancer, and the
attention of all the family was devoted to her care. As for me, no one was watching. I made friends I
shouldn’t have and did things that I’m not proud of.
I met Phil shortly after my mom died, in 1970. He was a senior at the high school where I was a
sophomore. Since he played piano at his church each week, I would go there to hear him play. For
the first time, I realized that it is possible to really KNOW God: to know Him like you know your
friends and family. I could finally see how far away from Him I was, and I knew that it was my sin
that was between us. How could I ever be good enough for God?
At last I could see the truth. I would never be good enough. It was right there in my own Bible all
along: The payment for sin is death. That is why Jesus came to Earth: to take the payment for my
sin. He died and rose again so that I might live. It really could be a personal relationship with Him.
That was when I truly put my trust in Jesus and asked Him to take away my sin.
At last I can really say - with confidence - that I know for certain that I am going to Heaven.
For all these years, God has been faithful to me. My wonderful husband, my beautiful children, our
home and health, our jobs and the money we need to go on from day to day... all these are the proofs
I see of God’s love and His care in my life. There have been crises, and trials, but He has protected
and comforted us.
The Lord has blessed my marriage. Phil and I enjoy a special closeness. I am so happy to have a
loving, caring husband. I love him so much. We’ve been married for 25 years!
As my children have grown, It has encouraged me to see that they have each one trusted Christ. I
rejoice when I see their Faith grow, and that they take their life as a Christian seriously, sharing their
Faith, and volunteering in Church responsibilities.
At my own Church, I teach Sunday school for grades 4 and 5, and help with the Bible memory/summer
camp program. Phil is music director, and plays the piano for worship services. With God’s help I
write a little article for the Ladies Newsletter from time to time.
I am confident, loving the Lord, and trusting Him to continue to work in my life, providing and caring
for me and my family. The future is bright for me.
