Interview- Bill (Muchmusic), Liam and Noel (seperately)

Bill- Was that maybe what got the band the 1st deal, was that confidence? You didn't need a manager, there was no tape involved..

Liam- Yeah..just confidence and music. See...theres no point in having...you gotta have music in all. You know we sounded good and we have you know. And everyone says it was a bit of luck, well I don't believe in luck its a load of bollocks.

Bill- Most of that even...

Liam- What?

Bill- Looking back, a lot of it had to do with luck

Liam- I don't believe that. He's wrong. (points to the camera) You're wrong.

Noel- Like I say, it was a bit of luck really...so...

Bill- Well you know what Liam said about that...

Noel- What?

Bill- He's said that there is no luck involved

Noel- Really? (scratches his chin) What would he know..

Liam- I don't believe in luck. Whats luck? If your fuckin good your good if your shit your shit....Even bands who are really fuckin shit, got fuckin signed somewhere. Now thats fuckin, thats fuckin luck. Well...*looks for his drink* we got to wherever we went.

Bill- Your MTV awards performance. This has something to do with what Alan said about you, and your perception in North America. Maybe particularly the US, not particularly Canada and your perception in England. Like he said, Americans don't get Liam

Liam- Who said that?

Bill- I think Alan Mcgee did

Liam- I don't think many people get me. I think you get me. But I don't know. I don't get meself.

Noel- Liam doesn't even get Liam. Nobody gets Liam. Not even his wife gets Liam. Who would want to anyways?

Bill- Do you have a different personna between the 2 countries do you figure?

Liam- In England y'know the English in the England don't even fuckin get me so fuck it. And the day they do get me is when I'll start worrying, because I'm not doing me job proper.

Noel- People in America don't like him (Liam), because he's a bit confrontational. You know, there's nothing to get, I mean, a singer sings songs. Thats all there is to get. I play guitar and write songs. Theres nothing else to get about me. I'm quite boring as you know, really.

It must be boring to be difficult ALL the time. It must be boring to be that confrontational all the time but then again...you know...nevermind.

Bill- When you say confrontational, he wouldn't, like, pick a fight with anyone..

Noel- *laughs* I don't think we're talking about the same person here are we? Of course he does. He'd pick a fight with his own toenails. But he's always claiming to be picking fights with people. But he's a pussycat really.

Liam- You've got a brother you have fights, fuck, you got another brother, you human!
Bill- Do you read your own press?

Liam- Oh yeah.

Bill- Just because..?

It's like, it's like, it's like reading thsi stuff, right, I'll sue you, and I'll sue you and then I'll sue you.

See thats the reason why we read it y'see. Just go ah, what'd they say today, *pretends to open up a newspaper* ah, thank you very much, couple of fuckin thousand pounds of you, couple of thousand pounds off you, couple of thousand pounds off you.

Bill- Especially during the new record, every day there was a new Oasis story out there.

Liam- Yeah I know, ridiculous isn't it. You'd think they'd get fuckin sick of us and then go and fuckin *mumbles* something or other *laughs*.

Bill- Does it worry you that one day that the press won't be there, won't be writing about Oasis this much?

Liam- Suppose so, yeah. Something else will pop on.

Y'know what I'm talking about here, they're always writing about me, 'cause I'm mad fer it. I don't mind, y'know, as long as we're doing something. I don't mind them writing about the band, when we're doing something. But writing about what I had for dinner last night is not fuckin, who gives a fuckin shit?

Bill- A true Oasis fan wouldn't care?

Liam- *shrugs* Who wants to know what I'm fuckin doing. Who gives a fuckin shit whether you're an Oasis fan or not, y'know what I mean, no ones interested.

You can write about the album, do what you fuckin want.

Bill- It was Mel C. that issued that challenge to you at the Brit awards, what was all that about?

Liam- *mumbles something* I don't know what. I think they're lovely girls, great, really talented and I wish them all the best in the world.

Bill- But in reality..?

Liam- Oh it was true.

Bill- Yeah?

Liam- Yeah.

Bill- What was that challenge about?

Liam- I don't know, I don't know. I don't get into it 'cause y'know, don't start getting in a scrap with them.

Bill- So you saw it when it was happening?

Liam- Saw what?

Bill- That little challenge.

Liam- I didn't say it, I don't know where they were coming from saying I was gonna slap them, I don't hit girls. Someone said it, and made it up, as usual, and then someone went and told the press or whatever and all that and that was it. I don't know what it was all about.

Bill- The press had a hay day last fall when you missed the first few dates of the tour, in reality that band was supposed to

Liam- *interrupts* Split up, we're never gonna split up. We'll just call it a day, shake eachothers hands, go to the pub.

Bill- Do you know playing for someone else's audience? Last time I saw Oasis was opening for Neil Young.

Liam- I don't mind as long as we're great, and sound good.

Bill- Is there a sense of converting, maybe, them?

Liam- Maybe, yeah. They pay us well, that's all we're fuckin doing it for.

Bill- Electronica, techno.

Liam- Oh fuck that, shite innit? I don't know anything about it so I can't really comment on it. I've never had that in my worlds, d'you know what I mean. It's just over there innit, to me.

Bill- So what do you think of the Chemical Brothers?

Liam- Alright, alright.

Bill- And Noel.

Liam- Our kid? On our kids great but uh...no I don't, I don't like them. Nice lads and that, but I don't like their music. I'm a rock'n'roll one.

Bill- You have no problem singing someone else's thoughts?

Liam- Nah, I don't, I dont' care its the same thought as me, I mean thinking the same thing, and we both live the same lives. So obviously we're both in the same, y'know what I mean...something happens..y'know...we're both walking down that same road aren't we. So obviously we're thinking the same. Well I think that, y'know, everything he writes, I can relate to.

Bill- Rock'n'roll fans can be fickle, and a lot of people went and bought the 2nd album cause its Oasis. Is there any worry that that mentality won't be there for the 3rd one?

Liam- I'm not particularly, I don't particularly matter whether you buy it or not, I don't fuckin give a shit. 'Cause I love it, I'll buy it. Y'know what I mean, play another great album, it's one of the best. It's the best we've ever done.

They'll buy it. You can't not buy it. Thats what music does to ya.
