CNN Interview (White Horse Tavern)
(the interviewer was REALLY trying to piss off the Gallaghers in the interview...it worked on Liam, but not on Noel...GOOD JOB NOEL)
Commentator- They make more than music, that has sold cds by the milions in England and America, Oasis make headlines that keep British Tabloids flush. Fueds with other bands, shameless boasting, boyish behavior, fights between the brothers at the helm, Noel and Liam Gallagher.
Last time we spoke with them, Liam was a no-show. This time he turned up at a tavern, and didn't disappoint.
Liam- "I'm not finished my bit, me"
Commentator- He was just beginning
Liam- "No no no no no, let's get it right, I never said we were gonna be BIGGER than the Beatles. I don't wanna be BIGGER than the Beatles. Y'know, I said we were gonna be as IMPORTANT as the Beatles, in this day and age"
Commentator- But sagging US sales figures suggest the new album 'Be Here Now' might not sustain the bands popularity.
Liam- "(holding Be Here Now pointing to the tracks) D'You Know What I Mean is a great fuckin song, It's Gettin Better Man, All Around the World, Don't Go Away, come on of course we're..The Girl In The Dirty Shirt, can we sustain that? Of course we can fuckin sustain it, we do that in our sleep"
Commentator- 30 year old Noel Gallagher, 5 years older than Liam and considerably more reserved, claims the new album may have been 'overhyped'.
Noel- "Came out in a blaze of press coverage which is something I don't particulary like, y'know what I mean..It's uhh...
Interviewer- "(raising his voice) You don't like press coverage?!? What do you mean?!? You don't like attention?! Come on!"
Noel- "Well...well..we used to but I mean..it's like kinda over innit?
Commentator- Oasis plans a tour of North America this winter, their last one was abruptly halted. Liam rejects the impression, some have, of a band that shoots itself in the foot, when not shooting off it's mouth.
Liam- "If we shot ourself in the foot then why the fuck are YOU *points* talking to me *does a cocky smile with his teeth to the camera*. You want me, big time.
Interviewer- "Yeah, not me personally"
Liam- "Not you personally, I know, but CNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN wants it"
Commentator- Theres a reason, by the way, the brothers don't do joint interviews.
Noel- "We argue too much basically...and you probably wouldn't get a word in."
Commentator- No argument there.
