Poetry Search
Go to
https://www.angelfire.com/ok/freshenglish/apoet.html
to find a copy of this assignment. At this address
you will be able to click on the links you need to
complete this assignment.
1. Go to http://www.homeworkcentral.com/files.htp?fileid=93870. Click on one of the letters of the alphabet at the top of the page. This will take you to a list of poets. Click on the titles and read a
few. When you find a poem you REALLY like, print it.
If you don't like any of these poets' poems, return
to the alphabet list at the top of the page and find another poet. You must
print three poems that you like--but no more than
three, please. Try, too, to find a picture of the poet. Return to the link above and scroll down the page to the list of poets. If one of the poets you like has a picture available, print it out.
2. Look at the tree favorite poems you have printed.
Which is your favorite? Who wrote it? You are now
to do some research to learn more about that author.
Click on "Search" in the tool bar and type the
author's name in the text box. Find out about the
author's life. Find out where the author was born or
lived most of his or her life. Write the post
interesting details about the author below.
3. So where did/does your poet live? You can see a
live camera shot of this place right here on the
internet. Go to http:
//dove.mtx.net.au/~punky/World.html. Click on
the map to find a list of live camera's in your
poet's country. If the city you are seeking is not
of the list, click on a camera in the same country.
See if you can print out a live picture of this
location.
4. If you finish early, research another poet. You
must work on this until the bell rings. Bring all of
your findings and poems to class tomorrow. Also, if
you have o ther favorite poems or poems you have
written yourself, you may bring them to class to
share tomorrow. Don't forget the poem you began
writing on Tuesday is due on Friday.
