The Powerful Principles of FAITH!
Part 1 "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1). Since this is the most widely used scripture to begin describing what FAITH really is, I'm not one that will deviate from that. I would simply like to dig a little bit deeper into the meaning of the word FAITH, and all the principles and aspects of it. I am not trying to change to meaning of the word FAITH. I am not trying to change what YOU think FAITH is. I am simply wanting to talk with you about this most powerful word that we believe is our basic existence from God's Word. The Bible says in several places, "The just shall live by FAITH." The Bible also says that we should live by the FAITH OF the Son of God. (Galatians 2:20). Thus indicating that we should live by the SAME EXACT FAITH that Jesus, the Son of God has. Is this possible? Is it possible that God has given us the same faith that He has given to JESUS, His only Son? Well, if the Bible says this, it must be possible. Let's look at it. Turn to Romans 12:3 in your own Bible. "For I say, through the grace of God given unto me, to every man, (and woman) that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly , according as God HATH dealt (HAS given) to every man (and woman) THE measure of FAITH." You have heard some people say in the past, "God has given us "A" measure of faith." This indicates to me that they don't even open their Bibles, and if they do open them, they don't read them. This would also indicate to me that God would be a respector of persons. It means that He would give one person a measure of faith and another person another measure of faith. Well, that's just not so, because He is NOT a respector of persons. God's Word says that He HAS already given to us THE measure of faith. He has already given to us the correct measure of faith that it will take to get anything done on this planet. He has already given us HIS faith and HIS FAITH IS QUITE SUFFICIENT! Through the Grace of God, Paul is saying, "Hey, this is hard for me to even believe, nevertheless, only through the grace of God, can I even possibly say this to you. This is the reason you need to think soberly about this. What I am trying to tell you is that God HAS already given to us the SAME EXACT MEASURE of FAITH that He has given to His Son Jesus, and that is THE ONLY MEASURE OF FAITH THAT WE HAVE TO MEASURE BY! HIS FAITH is the only yard-stick we have! It is THE only measure of faith and WE HAVE IT, Praise God! He has already given us THE measure of FAITH with which to believe Him for the faith to use to be an overcomer in this life. Listen to me, child of God, You couldn't make it on this planet without God's personal FAITH ! The devil would wipe you out in a heart-beat if it were not for God's FAITH. The only reason you have obtained as much as you have in the realm of God's Word is because of HIS FAITH. Peter said to Jesus in reference to the fig tree, "Look Jesus, the fig tree that you cursed yesterday is already withered away." (Mark 11:21). Then Jesus told him, "Have faith in God." Jesus was not telling Peter to have faith in God. Peter and the other disciples already knew they had faith IN God. The literal translation from the original Greek text says; "You have the FAITH OF God" Jesus was telling Peter, "You have the FAITH OF God in you, You can do the exact same thing with the exact same faith that I have." "NOW, faith is the substance, of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." (Hebrews 11:1). Look at that word, "NOW." If you'll stop and think for a moment with me, you will see that the word, "NOW" always updates itself to be current whenever it is spoken. Go ahead and say it, NOW! See there. It means exactly what it says. It means NOW! The word, "NOW" means exactly what it says, "NOW!" Say it again. "NOW!" NOW, let's read that verse with the word "NOW" in mind. "NOW faith is!" "Faith is NOW!" That word FAITH is always NOW! Every time your read this verse it is always up-dating itself to be current. That verse is always updating itself to be NOW! Do you see what I'm trying to say? Your faith is always current. Your faith is always NOW. Your FAITH is a NOW-kind of FAITH! Your FAITH is always ready to go into action. Your FAITH is always ready to change circumstances! Your FAITH is always ready to get someone healed! Your FAITH is always ready to bring someone to Jesus! Your FAITH is always ready and set on GO! Your FAITH is always ready to act on God's Word! What you do with YOUR FAITH is up to you. You can sit on YOUR FAITH ~ You can sit back and watch other people get sick, die and go straight to hell! OR, You can do something about it. You can activate your FAITH and do something about it NOW! Because YOUR FAITH is the victory that overcomes the things of this world. AND, YOUR FAITH is what will bring healing, prosperity, and freedom to the hurting people of the world. The message of FAITH in God's Word is the only thing that will save them from these things. USE IT ! Let's go on. "Now faith is the SUBSTANCE of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." Look at the word, SUBSTANCE. Webster's Dictionary defines SUBSTANCE as: The real or essential part of anything; Essence; The matter of which a thing consists; Material; Solid or substantial quality; Consistency; body; The real meaning; Wealth. Isn't that interesting? Your faith is a material. Your faith has body. Your faith has substance. Your faith is the essential part of anything. Your faith is the matter of which a thing consists. Your faith has solidity and quality of matter. Your faith can change anything on this planet and bring it in line with the Kingdom of God, because your faith is actually God's faith that He gave you to believe Him with. Look at what He did with His faith. He created the worlds and changed things. You can do the same thing. You have the same measure of faith as He does. "Now faith is the substance of things HOPED for, the evidence of things not seen." HOPED is defined as; An expectation of something that WILL happen. Right NOW your faith is the real matter of the thing that you are expecting to happen. Right NOW your faith is the material; the substance of the thing that you are expecting to happen. Now let's think about something. "The just shall live by changing things from what they are now, into what they fully expect them to be very soon." "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the EVIDENCE of things not seen." Evidence is defined as: The state or condition of being evident or obvious. To be plainly seen or observed. It is quite obvious. "Now your faith is the real material of the things that your are expecting to happen, and your faith is the plainly seen material of the thing you can see, but others can't." Let's look at another very popular verse of scripture on FAITH ! "Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God." (Romans 10:17). I have heard many people say over the years, "Oh, God, Increase my faith!" ~ "I wish I had more faith." ~ "If I had as much faith as Oral Roberts, I could heal the sick, too!" ~ "Kenneth Copeland has more faith than anyone I've ever seen." Many people have said many things about FAITH and what they would do if they only had as much FAITH as someone else. But the fact of the matter is they have the exact same amount of FAITH as everyone else, including God. Remember what we talked about just a few moments ago? We have been given THE measure of FAITH. We all have the exact same measure of FAITH. None of us are different. Let me use an illustration here. If you have a baby born to you, that baby has the exact same amount of muscles as you do. But why is that baby so small? That baby has not yet begun to develop those muscles. As that infant grows into a young man or woman, you can obviously see that their muscles are growing. Their body is not only getting larger, but they are developing their muscles. You begin to see signs of their physical strength increasing. Then, when they are maturing into a man or woman from a teen-ager, you also see another increase. Even though they are now full-grown, they still have the potential of growing even more physically fit, and developing and toning their muscles even more as they mature even more. Now think about FAITH for a moment with me, if you will. Think about FAITH in this same manner. Since we have all been given THE measure of FAITH muscle. God is not a respecter of persons. He will give you the same amount of muscles as He did to your neighbor, John. John is a large strong man. He can lift up the front end of his car while someone changes his oil for him. What is the difference? We said just a moment ago, it's the development of those muscles. Since we have all been given the exact same measure of muscles and the exact same measure of FAITH, why is it then that some people appear to be stronger than others? As we discussed, Your neighbor developed his muscles more than you did. He practiced lifting the front end of his car several times a month. Then he practiced some more, and now, he's got it down to where he can lift up the front end of his car just any ole' time he wants to! Your neighbor on the other side, goes to another church and you hear him talking about all the things that God is doing there. He also talks about the things that God is doing in his own personal life. He's not bragging, he's just testifying of the works of God. But, you hear him say some things that he's done and you are wondering, "How can this man do so much? He must have tremendous FAITH!" This man has the same exact measure of faith as you do. The difference is that he deliberately puts himself in a position to hear the Word of God at all times. He hears good "Word of Faith" preaching, he listens to "Faith" tapes on his tape player in the car and at home. He is constantly reading to himself to hear the Word of God all the times. "But, Brother Fred, that's extreme!" Yes, you're right. He is extremely well, he is extremely prosperous, he is extremely led by the Holy Ghost, he is extremely filled with the joy of the Lord, and everything in his life seems to go extremely well! You have to get extreme if you are going to make it in this life. God has designed for you to be an overcomer in this life and if you are going to be an overcomer, you are going to have to do it by FAITH. You are going to have to KNOW what FAITH is and how to use it. "Whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and THIS is the victory that overcomes the world, even OUR FAITH. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?" (1John 5: 4-5). YOUR FAITH is your victory! The more Word you hear, the more YOUR FAITH will increase, and the more VICTORY you will have in your life. Because this is the victory that overcomes the things of the world ~ YOUR FAITH! YOUR FAITH is directly related to YOUR VICTORY! YOUR VICTORY is due to YOUR FAITH! So, you see, it is when you deliberately get into reading and hearing the Word of God that you will increase and develop your FAITH. It is when these other people, like Oral Roberts, and Kenneth Copeland, have gotten into the Word of God and deliberately set themselves in a position to hear the Word of God, that they increased their FAITH. They determined in their heart that they were going to develop those FAITH muscles to a point where they would definitely be overcomers. As you can clearly observe by just these two ministries and by their lives, that FAITH works when it is developed. Can you imagine what would happen when you lay hands on a cancer patient and that cancerous lump falls out on the floor? Sure you could you imagine things like that all the time, if you'll only admit it. You would like to lay hands on the sick and see them healed right in front of your eyes. All you have to do is increase your own FAITH. Don't go to God and ask Him to increase your FAITH. He's going to tell you to READ and LISTEN and HEAR His Word. A very good friend that I met in the very first "Word of Faith" church I ever went to, said to me, "My husband Darryl speaks the Word to himself every day, sometimes he speaks it all day long. He says that he seems to build his FAITH more when he does this, so he just does it all the time." This one conversation so impressed my thinking that I was compelled to do the same thing. And you know something? I got the same results as Darryl did. My FAITH began to increase. The more that I deliberately set myself into a position to hear the Word, The more that I deliberately spoke the Word of God to my self to cause myself to hear it, the more my FAITH increased, and now I am overcoming more in this world than I did several years ago. I still speak the Word of God to myself everyday, all day long, in this world, and I am still overcoming more and more everyday in this world. It was done with EVEN MY FAITH! THE same measure of FAITH that my Father, God gave to me when I was born-again! "So then, FAITH comes by HEARING, and HEARING, and HEARING, and HEARING, the Word of God." (Romans 10:17) Now with this said, I'll say something that will make you stop and think a little more about what you believe. What you BELIEVE, What you FAITH, is what you have heard all the years of your life. If you want to change what you are receiving, you're going to have to change what you're hearing. THE same measure of FAITH that my Father, God gave to me when I was born-again!
YOUR FAITH is directly related to YOUR VICTORY! YOUR VICTORY is due to YOUR FAITH! So, you see, it is when you deliberately get into reading and hearing the Word of God that you will increase and develop your FAITH. It is when these other people, like Oral Roberts, and Kenneth Copeland, have gotten into the Word of God and deliberately set themselves in a position to hear the Word of God, that they increased their FAITH. They determined in their heart that they were going to develop those FAITH muscles to a point where they would definitely be overcomers. As you can clearly observe by just these two ministries and by their lives, that FAITH works when it is developed. Can you imagine what would happen when you lay hands on a cancer patient and that cancerous lump falls out on the floor? Sure you could you imagine things like that all the time, if you'll only admit it. You would like to lay hands on the sick and see them healed right in front of your eyes. All you have to do is increase your own FAITH. Don't go to God and ask Him to increase your FAITH. He's going to tell you to READ and LISTEN and HEAR His Word. A very good friend that I met in the very first "Word of Faith" church I ever went to, said to me, "My husband Darryl speaks the Word to himself every day, sometimes he speaks it all day long. He says that he seems to build his FAITH more when he does this, so he just does it all the time." This one conversation so impressed my thinking that I was compelled to do the same thing. And you know something? I got the same results as Darryl did. My FAITH began to increase. The more that I deliberately set myself into a position to hear the Word, The more that I deliberately spoke the Word of God to my self to cause myself to hear it, the more my FAITH increased, and now I am overcoming more in this world than I did several years ago. I still speak the Word of God to myself everyday, all day long, in this world, and I am still overcoming more and more everyday in this world. It was done with EVEN MY FAITH! What you BELIEVE, What you FAITH, is what you have heard all the years of your life. If you want to change what you are receiving, you're going to have to change what you're hearing. You will have to change what you're speaking. You need to speak and hear the Word of God!
