Christie has easy access for boating, hiking, swimming and loads of picnic areas so if it's summer or winter 'relaxation' your after need we say more. There are also 9 Fishing Ponds each stocked with Trout, although so far we have only caught Largemouth Bass and Carp, along with the obligatory Sunfish, of course.
Valens is spread over more than 275 hectares, which is a lot of hiding space for the creatures that live here so the observation towers come in real handy, of course you could always sneak up on them by canoe but there's that decision again, admire the wildlife or hunt the pike. Personally for us the wildlife wins, unless we're feeling mean.
This is a view across Valens Reservoir, it looked very inviting as the temperature was over 30 degrees centigrade. We opted for a short walk around the water looking at the wildlife.
There were lots of "tent" caterpillars in evidence and Dragonflies by the thousand, some with beautiful iridescent blue bodies and some as big as Helicopters, really!!!!
This little guy is a Leopard Frog we met with several dozen of his relatives as well. The size 7 in the background just missed him.

All cater for camping, group picnics and are open all year, so there's no excuse for missing out on the splendor the seasons have to offer.
However, if it's the call of the wild your craving, your best bet is to pack a hearty lunch, your rod and licence and head out to any one of Ontario's 250,000 lakes, and the river count is pretty big too.
Once you hit the lakes that's when you will need your Regulations Summary. The Guide to Eating Ontario Sport Fish (FREE from the Ministry of Environment and Energy at 1-800-820-2716) comes in real useful too.
