Taylor

I walked to my mailbox, as I had so many times before. But this time it felt different. As if I was expecting something. I stuck my hand inside and pulled out a stack of envelopes.

I went through the stack swiftly. Most of them were bills for my parents, a couple of "dear occupants," and one or two "win instantly" sweepstakes, but the last letter was addressed to me. The return address was to the North Carolina Detention Center. I ran inside and dropped the other envelopes onto the table and ran upstairs, ignoring the shouts of my mother to not run in the house. I shut my door and tore the envelope open and pulled the letter out and started to read.

Dear Taylor,

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to write to you. They've kept me so busy here. They hardly let us sit down.
We have to wake up at 6:00 in the morning. And from 6:10 to 7:10 we have to run laps around the entire camp. Then from 7:15 to 7:30 we get a break for breakfast. After that, we have to run the obstical course, which is hard as hell. Then they have us do a whole bunch of harder shit, then we finally get a dinner break at 8:30. And lights are at 10:00.
Enough with my problems. I want to thank you for that song you dedicated to me. It was very sweet. I knew exactly what you were talking about.
I want to apologize about how I treated you. You didn't deserve it. I was a bitch and I hope some day you will be able to forgive me.

Katelyn

I smiled to myself. Maybe there will be a chance for Katelyn and I after all...
