Chapter Three

The next day thery were off to the airport to catch their flight to Paris. While Michael worked, MIndy walked the streets with a hired tour guide. Shopped, ate, and saw the cities. They hit Sidney, Australia, and Vancouver, Canada. They flew back to the states, visiting New York, Washington D.C., Oklahoma City and L.A. for a week each. Then they flew back to Oklahoma City.
"Mindy, I want you to meet your uncle Chris and aunt Cindy."
"Hello uncle Chris, aunt Cindy." Mindy replied politely.
"Hi Mindy." They said. "We want you to meet our children and your cousins. This is Nick. He's twelve too. And the other boy is Austin. He's fifteen. The youngest is Stephanie. She's six. The last one is Lindsay. She's thirteen."
"Hi. Nice to meet you all. I'm Mindy. I just turned twelve."
"Nice to meet you." Everybody said.
"Lindsay, show Mindy to her room."
"Okay."
"Mindy, I have to catch a flight, so I'll be leaving now. You be good, and hopefully I'll be back in less than three weeks. Thanks for taking her Chris and Cindy."
"We love having her."
"Good-bye Mindy."
"Bye dad." And Michael was gone again.
"Lindsay. Austin, Nick, take Mindy's bags upstairs to the guest room."
"Yes mom." They each grabbed a suitcase and led Mindy up to the room. Nick and Austin left as soon as they dropped off Mindy's bags, but Lindsay stayed.
"So you came from Charlotte, North Carolina?" Mindy and Lindsay sat on the bed.
"Yeah. So, what do you do around here for fun?"
"We go to the mall, movies, rollerblade tons. What do you do in Charlotte?"
"Basically the same things. Do you have a boyfriend?"
"Yeah. He doesn't live here. His name is Zac. He's super duper cute. Here. I have a picture of him." Lindsay handed Mindy a small picture in a gold frame. Zac had long golden hair to his shoulders, these amazing brown eyes and the cutest gap toothed smile in the world. "He's a musician. Plays the drums. Cutest boy in the world. He's in a band with his two older brothers."
"He is cute. You're lucky to have him."
"He's sweet too. A ton of energy."
"I bet. To be a drummer- that takes a lot of energy. Where is he, how long have you been togeather, and how did you meet?" Mindy set the picture back on the nightstand.
"He's in Tulsa. And since we're on the outskirts of Oaklahoma City, it's not too far away. Lives there. We've been togeather for three months. We met at one of his early concerts. We've been friends for a long time. We finally started to go out, and we had to move. Do you have a boyfriend?"
"No. I did pierce my stomach though." Mindy showed her ring.
"Awesome! I'd love to do that, but my parents would kill me."
"So would mine. But my dad doesn't know about it."
"Really? You're so sneaky."
"Do you mind if I change real quick? I hate these clothes." Mindy motioned to her torn jeans and blue tee shirt.
"Yeah. Sure. The bathroom's through that door." Lindsay pointed to the door next to the closet.
"Great." Mindy picked up her backpack and dashed into the bathroom. A couple minutes later, Mindy walked out of the bathroom in a white tank top that tied in the middle, cut off jean shorts and strappy heeled sandals. "I hate wearing those kinds of clothes. They're so... so... concealing."
"Oh. Maybe we can arrange for my boyfriend and his family to come over. Nick is best friends with Zac and Austin is best friends with Tay."
"Who's Tay?"
"One of Zac's brothers."
"How many brothers does Zac have?"
"Three brothers. And three sisters too."
"Wow. Big family."
"Yeah. You know what?"
"What?"
"You look like you could be a sister to them."
"Really?"
"Yeah. Your long blond hair, blue eyes and skinny frame run in their family. Except your hair is fuller and wavier. You're a little small though."
"Oh."
"But you look like them an awful lot. Maybe we can arrange for them to come over this afternoon so you can see exactly how much you look like them."
"Alright."
"Now, I'll let you unpack, and I'll go arrange something."
"Is it a lot of trouble for them to come over?"
"No. They do it all the time."
"Fine."
"Come down when you're ready."
"Kay." Mindy unpacked slowly, admiring the purple and ble room. "It won't be so bad here." She said to herself. "Besides. I guess I already look like the people here, so it can't be too tough." Mindy heard the door open downstairs, and about a hundred people came in. "I must have taken longer than I thought."
