Set Adrift on Memory's Bliss Chapter 7
“So, where to now?” Nick asked. “We’ve only 2 hours until we meet up with everyone else.” He frowned.
“Oh, really? Time is just going too fast.” Lia frowned also.
“I know, I don’t want this day to end.”
“Me neither.” Lia sighed. Nick reached his arm out, and pulling her close he hugged her. Lia smiled to herself.
“What do we do?” Nick asked.
“Let’s make this day memorable.” Lia took his hand.
“Okay, how?”
“Umm.. I dunno. All I know, is that we’ve got 2 hours to do it!”
“Yeah.” Nick got an idea.
“Where to?”
“I dunno, all of the lines are pretty long.”
“I know, we’d probably only be able to make one ride. And with all those grouchy people, we’d never be together.”
“I know.”
“Oh.” Lia let out another sigh. They sat silently, thinking.
“I’ve got it.” Nick said, a smile forming on his face.
“What?”
“Just come on.” Nick said, and pulled her along with him. They walked for a long time. It felt as if they had walked across the whole park. Nick stopped in front of a round building.
“What’s this?” Lia asked confused.
“It’s, well, different. I remember going on it as a kid. It’s like a look through time.” Lia just left a confused look on her face. “Just come on.” Nick pulled her into the line, which was very short. They got inside of the ride thing right away.
“Okay, now explain this to me?” Lia asked. Nick was quiet, and pulled her into the farthest back row, away from everyone else.
“Okay, well it’s like a look through time. It’s kinda a movie, and a play, it’s got robotic people or something and there’s like 4 different scenes.”
“Okay, and why are we here?”
“Like I said, it’s like a movie.” Nick put his arm around her shoulder, and pulled her in for a kiss. Lia got the picture and kissed him back. His hand gently swept across her cheek and then he laid it there. Their kisses grew longer and more passionate. Nick’s hand slipped down to Lia’s thigh, and Lia’s arm wrapped around his neck.
“Excuse me, we’re going to ask you two to leave.” A man waved a flashlight in their faces. “This is for the public’s enjoyment to watch, not to make out.” The elder man was getting furious. Nick and Lia asked no questions. They got up and walked out.
“Oops!” Lia said. As soon as the two were out, they began laughing so hard that their sides hurt.
“Did you see the look on his face!” Nick laughed.
“Okay, well so much for plan ‘A’.” Lia joked.
“Come on.” Nick grabbed her hand, and led her through the park.

“Kevin, do you even know where we’re going?” Jaci asked. Everyone was becoming irritable with Kevin’s leading them half-way across the park.
“I only worked here for how long! I think I should know my way around by now.” Kevin replied, he too was becoming testy.
“Well, all I’m saying is that this is crazy! Where are you taking us? We’ve only got 1 hour and a half until we meet up with Nick and Lia and I’m not sure we’re gonna make it back to them in time.” Jaci tried to calm Kevin down.
“Trust me, I know where we are going!” Kevin, still upset with everyone else replied.
“I do! Will you just stop biting everyone’s heads off?! You’re the one who needs to learn how to trust people!” Jaci got fed up with Kevin’s attitude and took a nasty tone.
*****FLASHBACK*****
“Oh Nate! I’m so happy to see you! How have you been?” Jaci asked her former boyfriend, and best friend of 5 years, Nate. They had just bumped into eachother while in line to get some food. She hugged him.
“I’m happy to see you too Jaci! I’m very well, and you?” Nate said. He had gone off to Harvard after graduating at the top of his class with Jaci.
“I’m good! What are you doing here?”
“I’m visiting family and friends for the summer. I’m here with my brother, John. Do you remember him?” Jaci nodded. “Well, I came to Disney Land with him, his wife Sandra, and my 2 neices Delilah and Rebeka Lynn.”
“Oh yes! I remember them! You’re neices are so adorable!” Jaci moved up with the line. Only 2 more people and she would finally get to order.
“Well thanks! They take after me!” Nate smiled.
“So, how’s Harvard?”
“It’s going along good. It’s a lot more work than I thought. But it’s good practice for a lawyer to be!” Nate had always wanted to become a famous laywer. He use to share his dreams about it with Jaci when they were going out.
“That’s great.”
“Yeah, so are you here with Alicia?” Nate asked, changing the subject.
“Yes, but she’s off with her boyfriend.” Jaci giggled.
“Oh, well are you involved with someone?” Nate asked, somewhat quietly.
“Yes, actually, I am. He’s out there.” She pointed through the door.
“That’s great!” Nate sounded happy. “I’m happy for you.”
“Yes, well thanks. How about you?”
“Well, I’m with someone.” He paused, choosing his next words carefully. “Actually, I’m engaged.”
“Oh really, that’s wonderful.” Jaci tried to be as cheerful as possible. She knew she had to adapt to it, she and Nate had broken up more than 2 years ago, and also stopped being best friends with the break up.
“I know. She’s also going to Harvard, to become a teacher.”
“Oh, I’m so happy for you!” Jaci loosened up, remembering she had a wonderful guy of her own. She hugged Nate, and then kissed his cheek.
“Can I help you?” A rude worker from behind the counter said to Jaci, sparking her attention. She ordered her food, and made small talk a little bit longer with Nate while she waited for it to come.
“Well, it was great to see you again! I’m so happy for you! Don’t be a stranger, come and see me next time you’re down here!” Jaci smiled, taking her food from the workers.
“Of course not! We can try to get together sometime when Kim’s down.” Nate stated. They said their good-bye’s and Jaci hurried out to Kevin.
“What was that?” Kevin asked rudely.
“What was what?” Jacinda replied with a question, herself confused.
“That guy. You know the one you hugged and kissed.” Kevin said.
“What do you mean? He was my ex-boyfriend and best friend.”
“Since when do you go around hugging, kissing, and touching your ex?” Kevin’s voice got sharper. The tension between the two mounted.
“What the hell is wrong with you?! I told you, he’s just my ex. We’re just friends now.”
“Oh okay.” Kevin said in a sarcastic voice.
“What? So you don’t think you can trust me?” Jaci asked, her voice raising this time. She usually was the one who remained calm.
“I didn’t mean it like that!”
“Oh yes you did. And if you don’t think you can trust me, maybe we shouldn’t see each other anymore.” With that, Jaci took one of the drinks she had just bought and splattered it across Kevin’s face, and ran off to find her friends.
“Jaci!” Kevin cried out, but Jaci didn’t pay him any attention.
“Jaci?”
“What?” Jaci asked sharply after remembering their troubles last summer.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to blow up at you.” Kevin said apologitically.
“I understand. But don’t you remember last summer? How it all ended because we blew up at eachother and someone not trusting the other one.”Jaci said. Kevin quickly recalled last summer’s argument in his mind.
“I know. I’m terribly sorry for everything, especially last summer. I’ll promise to control my temper, and I especially promise to trust you.” Kevin said in a trusting, more open voice.
“Okay, I’m sorry too for everything.” They kissed quickly.
“Okay, I thought you guys made up earlier, what was this little shanogan?” Brian spoke up.
“Well we never talked any of it out.” Kevin replied.
“So you gotta do it in front of us??” AJ laughed.
“Okay okay, we get the point! Sorry!” Kevin said. They all laughed at Jaci and Kevin.
“Alright, now that that’s done with, can we please go and do something? This is turning out to be nothing more than a terrible excuse for excersise.” Howie whined.
“Geez Howie, have some patience!” Kevin said back, mocking his whiney voice.
“Okay okay, everyone stop arguing! Let’s go shopping or something.” Jaci broke up the conversation.
“Okay, where to?”
“The main street! It had a lot of cute shops in it.” Jade said, with a sparkle in her eye.
“And we’re off.” AJ joked, as the group turned and headed in the total opposite direction as they started off in.
