Chapter 6

Chapter 6 - Yet Untitled

Since I already knew she was beating me to the door, I slowed down my pace and checked myself out in the long hallway mirror.
“Oh damn, what if I’m too dressed up?!” I started to worry, but I didn’t have much time.
“Audree, Nick’s here.” Angie said, in a teasing voice.
“I’m coming.” I called back, as I walked out of the hallway into the living room, where Nick was standing with a bouquet of mixed flowers. His eyes looked like they nearly bulged out of his head when he looked my way. Is this good or bad?
“Um.. here, I brought you these.” He said, handing me the flowers, stuttering. How cute.
“Thanks.” I took them smiling. Nick kept staring.
“You look nice.” He said, after clearing his throat.
“Thanks, I’m not too over dressed, am I?” I asked, hoping I wasn’t. I would feel like such a fool, and that was something I definately didn’t want.
“No, you look really nice.” He smiled, his eyes sparkled.
“Thanks.” I remembered my sister was standing right beside me. “Oh, I’m sorry! Angie, this is Nick Carter from school. Nick, this is my sister Angie.” I got the two aquainted. “I’ll be right back. I’m gonna put these in some water.” I said, and turned and walked into the kitchen. I hope Angie doesn’t embarass me.
“I think I’ve seen you at school, just not in person.” Angie laughed. “I’m not sure where.”
“Oh.” Nick laughed. “I’m on the basketball team and the football team, if you’ve seen those pictures around school.”
“Yeah, I think that’s it.”
“Well then I guess you’ve seen me.” Nick said. The conversation was rather dull between the two, from what I could hear in the kitchen. I tried to hurry to get back to Nick.
“Okay, sorry about that.” I said, walking back to Nick and Angie.
“It’s all good, ready to go?” He asked, pulling his charming smile.
“Yep.” I looked back at Angie on the way out. “You’ve got Amy then?”
“Yeah. Good luck!” She whispered and winked. I laughed, and winked back, then shut the door behind me.

“Well, what would you like to see first?” Nick asked, driving down Alamon Rd. I had no idea where I was already, without the street signs. I laughed.
“To tell ya the truth, I’m lost already. So, where ever you like sounds good to me!” I said, looking over at him and smiling.
“Okay, we’ll try Rocky’s. It’s this really good pizza place, although it can sometimes be busy on Fridays.” Nick looked at me, asking if it mattered, by the look on his face.
“It doesn’t matter to me! I’m not planning on going anywhere later.”
“Okay.” He turned up the radio. It was an R&B station, playing R. Kelly’s old “Bump & Grind”. Ten minutes later, we turned into a big parking lot, that had a huge sign that read ‘Rocky’s Pizza Place’. He was very gentleman like, and opened my door for me, pulled out my chair, the whole deal.
“Okay, what should we get?” He ask. I think to myself. ‘He seems so sweet. There’s gotta be some sort of catch, can he really be this perfect?’
“Um...” Was my answer. Yeah, I’m smart.
“I like it all! So, you pick!” He smiled. Both his smile and his attitude made me calm.
“Okay, well I’m a big pepperoni lover.” I laughed, he joined me. The waiter came five minutes later and took the order of a medium pepperoni pizza and two Cokes. Over thirty minutes went by, as we talked and ate. It was rather good, both the food and the conversation.
“I’m about done.” Nick said, patting his stomach and then laughing. “I’m with you!” I laughed and pushed away my plate that had a half-eaten slice of pizza on it. “So, where to now?” I asked, hoping there was going to be lots more, tonight was already going great.
“Let’s see.” He looked up at a Coca-Cola clock hanging on the wall. “It’s only 5:30. Wow. The nights still young, what would you like to do?” He asked, a gleam in his eye. I smiled, I was becoming quite fond of that gleam or sparkle.
“Hmmm...” I sat and thought for a minute. “I have no clue! You’re suppose to show me around! I don’t know where anything is yet, silly.” I laughed, at the same time, a soft smile formed between his cheeks.
“How about we go to a movie? Then, after the movie, I’ve got a suprise for you.” He grinned bearingly.
“Oh really? A suprise! Well, let’s hurry up and get that movie over with!” I laughed. “What do you suggest we see?”
“I don’t really care. It’s up to you.”
“Um.. I like lots of movies... especially scary ones.” I laughed. I saw an evil grin form on his face. I see he’s thinking the same thing I am. Wow, great minds do think alike!
“Okay, well that new one, ‘Disturbing Behavior’ is out. How about that?” He said, standing up and pulling out money for the bill. I blushed, I hadn’t even thought about that.
“Oh, here.” I said, grabbing my purse. Nick put his hand on mine.
“Don’t, my treat.”
“Oh,” I blushed, “thanks!”
“No prob.”
After Nick paid the bill, we were on our way to the Ruskin Township Theater. It was a big building, that looked rather new. Nick told me it had 12 screens inside it. I laughed, to see that “Titanic” was still playing, although I know it was a good, tear-filled movie.
“Two for ‘Disturbing Behavior’.” Nick said. The man behind the window rung up a toal of $15.
“Wow. Here let me atleast pay for mine.” I started to reach in my purse again. Again, Nick’s hand stopped me.
“Don’t worry about it!” He said, assuringly. I smiled. It did sort of bug me that he wouldn’t let me pay for anything, I wonder why that is. Oh, I’ll ask him another time. No point in trying to spoil a can’t-get-any-better-night.
Nick led me through the doors and pointed to a spot on the far end in the back row. I smiled and nodded. Damn, he must be reading my mind, I grinned an evil grin to myself. He might have noticed, cuz I caught a smirk on his face.
Through out the whole movie, I jumped, screamed, and burried my face in Nick’s chest, as his arm was around me. I don’t know about him, but I was really enjoying those scary parts. Before I knew it, though, it was all over and the credits were rolling across the screen. “Now for that suprise.” Nick said.
