-Chap. 4-

“Hey, I thought you said you were from Rochester, New York? You said that you were from Milwaukie, WI. in lunch?” Nick asked me confused, as he was giving me the grand tour of the school.
“Oh, well I did just move from Milwaukie. But, I lived in Rochester, before that. I was born there, and I lived there til I was about 5, then I moved to Milwaukie. It was my dad’s job that had us move to Milwaukie, and I’d lived there eversince 5 years old. I really adapted. Then, two years ago, my parents got divorced. My mom had trouble managing 3 kids, the house, and all the bills. She then got offered an upgrade in her job, the problem was, it was all the way down here in Ruskin. We all understood, and so we told her to take it.” I stopped, realizing that I’d never planned on telling him that much, not my life story anyways.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” He sad, as we walked into the gym.
“Don’t be. Moving down here hasn’t turned out to be that bad!” I said cheerfully.
“Good. I’m glad.” He smiled at me. While we were walking through the empty gym, he stopped. I looked at him, waiting for him to say something, but he didn’t. He just stood there, and gazed into my eyes, and then I did the same. For a moment, I felt as if he was going ot lean in and kiss me. He didn’t though, he blinked quickly and turned back around, walking again.
“Ugh!” I thought to myself. “I wish he woulda kissed me. Great, he doesn’t like me.” I thought to myself. From that moment on, I wasn’t really paying any attention to what he was saying.
“And, over there is where we lock up students who don’t listen.” I just nodded. Nick stepped in front of me and I looked up at him. “What’s the matter with you? You haven’t even been listening half the time.”
“Yes I have.” I lied.
“Okay, what did I just say?” He asked, accusingly.
“Um..” I paused to think.
“I said, ‘And, over there is where we lock up students who don’t listen.’.” Nick repeated himself.
“Oh, I’m sorry.” I apologized for not listening, then I grinned. “I guess I belong there then, don’t I?”
“I suppose so.” Nick said, and thought for a minute. Before I could ask what he was thinking. He bent down, and grabbed me by my knees. I was over his shoulder in seconds.
“WHAT? Put me down!” I cried frantically in fear of falling.
“Why?” Nick asked, teasingly.
“Because, I’m not a bird, I don’t belong in the air.”
“Are you sure?” He asked.
“Of course, I’m not a bird!”
“Okay, well, I’ll put you down, but only on one occasion..” He paused. Setting me down carefully, he looked at me.
“What would that be?” I asked him, grinning.
“That you’re still going to let me take you on a tour of the town tonight.” He finished, with what looked like a hopeful gleam in his eye.
“I dunno! You already put me down!” I joked. “Sure, I’d love that! I dunno how many times I told you!”
“Okay, kool. So should I come and pick you up? Or would you like to meet somewhere?” He asked. I laughed, not on purpose, but it just came out. “What?” He asked.
“I don’t really know where anything is, so I don’t think meeting somewhere is possible!” I laughed some more. He laughed.
“Oh yeah, huh? Oops, my bad! Well, shall I come and pick you up then?”
“That’d probably be a good idea.” I said, flirtatiously.
“Okay, would you mind giving me directions, cuz that’ s probably the only place I’m going to have trouble finding!” He laughed, in an adorable, sweet, quiet, shy way.
“Sure. Let’s go to our lockers so I can write them down.” I said. We walked to our lockers pretty much in silence. I didn’t know what to say. “Am I falling for him?” I asked myself, and then answered my own question, “Honey, you fell for him a long time ago... Okay, earlier ths morning.” I giggled to myself.
We walked to our lockers in silence. It felt somewhat awkward. When we got to our lockers, I opened mine up, grabbed a peice of paper.
“Wait, you might already know where it is.” I told him my address.
“Yeah, but give me your number just in case I need to call.” He grinned.
“Okay. Here ya go.” I wrote it out and handed it to him. We just stood there, in silence for a moment, again. The bell ringing soon fixed the awkwardess.
“Okay, I’ll give you a call when I get home, and we can decided on a time and everything.” Nick said, doing the combination to his locker.
“Okay.” I’d already gathered my things and was headed out. “See ya tonight.” I turned around to say.
“Yeah, you bet!” Nick smiled again. I was happy, I got to see a lot of his smiling face to day. I walked out to my car. I must have been in a dreamy gaze, cuz Angie walked up to me and snapped her fingers right in front of my face.
“What?” I asked.
“Hello! I’ve been calling you name!”
“Oh, sorry.” I guess I was in a dreamy gaze. “So, tell me about your day.” I said, opening the door to my car.
“Well, I met sooo many cute guys! I got lots of their phone numbers, and well, let’s just say I gave a few of them ours.”
“Oh great!” I joked.
“Anyways, I met some really cool people, my classes are okay, and I scored a date for Friday night.” My sister went on proudly. “How was yours?”
“GREAT!” I said happily and went on to tell her every last detail.
“WOW! Go Audree!” She started cheering for me. I laughed.
“So now, I gotta hurry home and get ready!” I said. All the way home from there, I popped the Sugar Ray cd in and blasted “RPM” (LOL M&M) all the way home!
